If and when ex Speaker Joe de Venecia testify in the senate, his testimony will be "credible" because it will also be his "act of contritions" for all his sins! I don't see any way he can come out clean! If he tries to cleanse himself, distance himself from numerous China funded projects, his "credibility" will suffer and suffer beyond repair! The only thing that JDV could hope for..."is get even" and "to ligthen his conscience a bit!"

Simple lang he was the "insider", plus kasama siya sa China noong pirmahan.

NO..hindi sya credible as a witness para sa NBN deal investigation sa senado..maaring alam nya lahat ang mga nangyari pero imposibleng sabihin nya lahat ang katotohanan unless idadawit din nya ang sarili nya...kung magsasalita man sya ay siguradong pili lang yon at hindi ang buong detalye..

Re: If former Speaker Jose de Venecia testifies in the Senate on the allegedly overpriced national broadband project with China's ZTE Corp., will he be a credible witness?
How can anyone answer 'yes' or 'no' to this question? We haven't heard his testimony yet. Any witness is credible only if they tell the complete and whole truth. Sometimes it is difficult to sort out the political rhetoric from actuality. Just look at what has been done so far. Even after all is said and done; what will happen? A report written by a very junior senator to the GMA controlled Ombudsman stating that a few disgruntled 'ex' government employees have made some accusations that needs to be investigated further. Maybe in the year 2030 after all parties have been forgotten, the office of the then sitting Ombudsman will finally address the complaint. So what has happened? The tax paying public of the Philippines has again subsisted Media hungry politicians in their quest for recognition. Wake up citizens of the Philippines, a democracy is a government "OF THE PEOPLE AND BY THE PEOPLE". IF YOU WANT 'CHANGE', THEN YOU HAVE TO START AT THE GRASS ROOTS OF SOCIETY. Stop voting into office people that have a history of corrupt and immoral practices.

Don't be so eager to shout praise for Sen. Obama. What you see is not always what you get/ People are like onions in that they have many layers. Do a little research on his antics during his campaign for State Senator. You may be surprised that he is not completely ethical in his political dealing. Remember what you got the last time you followed the "Circus Wagon", with its loud music and gala festivities. Billions of your pesos in graft and corruption deposited in fictitious bank accounts under assumed names.

JdeV helped Gloria weather the Garci tapes. Whatever his reasons then, it could not have been to help out the truth. This, despite Gloria's apology. Why should we think he is championing the truth this time?

i couldn't say yes nor no, until i hear or see what he has to offer. right now, i suspect he fears on losing everything and ending up just like most whistleblower (got my point?).

there's more than meets the eye. JDV lost all credibility as a politician the moment he was caught between his career and his son. since he's got nothing left to lose, it's about time he went public with what he knows. whether he blurts out only half-truths to limit his involvement in the fiasco is still a step forward considering we have zero information to indict the arroyo regime at this point.

is there anything new? the man is old enough to know, what to do or say. i believe he isn't going to do something that will get him losing what he attained after all those years. it's just time to let people know that we should be more careful about who to pick in elections. did you vote for the guy?

prince:although I am for Gun control hey as long as you are responsible enough and have proper permits, why not...
after the rcbc cabuyao massacre, what protection do ordinary citizens have when our policemen are just reactive to every incident? if i were unarmed, do i wait for someone to just kill me or should i be more proactive? i'll choose the latter. this is enough reason why the gun ban doesn't make us feel secure. if criminals have guns and they can kill senselessly and mercilessly, citizens must arm themselves. yeah, i know the endless rhetoric by those who promote a gunless society, blah, blah, blah. the fact remains: there are more people killed by drunk drivers, than people killed by guns.
