After the cebu hospital scandal, here's another unethical nursing student making headlines.

    Hi guys,

I'm just irritated with the way this nursing student acted on her posts.  I think that the pictures posted in her multiply site (which can be PUBLICLY viewed on the web through this site. http://sallydatgirl.multiply.com/photos/album/161/papsmear_day_ ) are unethical.  You guys can be the judge of her actions if its ethical or not.  Para sa akin, nakakahiya. Ewan ko na lang sa inyo.  Thanks!

I don't think it was unethical.

First of all, the author did say that the pictures were taken with the patient's consent.

There was no violation with the right to privacy. It didn’t show the patient’s face or personal information. They were careful not to expose the patient's identity.

There was no violation on sterile technique. Everyone wore gloves.

Overall, that link didn’t suggest any form of physical or emotional harm done to the patient.

Pictures like that are common in medical field. Medical books are even worse.

unethical nga ang mga pics....para sa mga nurse at med student ok lng un pro dapat maging sensitive cla sa opinion ng ibang tao....pervert lng ang gumagawa ng ganyan!!!!

wen you say unethical 8 means morally unaceeptable....so u see, 8 has nothing to do w/ wether taking those pictures w/ consent or not. those students shud be sensitive enuf to the public eye...u cud say that bcoz i guess ur a nursing or a med student...but for ur nformation, every profession has this so called social responsibility.....got that?!

I understand what you mean. In my opinion, this may be a case for internet censorship but not ethics. On TV, it is like watching ER, Niptuck, Discovery health, etc. If you didn’t like it, change the channel. The Cebu hospital scandal, however, was DEFINITELY unethical.

There are certain people who wants to project moral high ground  at any oppurtunity just to gain symphaty and social contract.

It other words, I am SUPERIOR, says the COMPLAINER, and you are INFERIOR, referring to NURSES in the complain,  is nothing but a trick  really to gain POWER over the nurses.

Good thing is the students were acting professionally and careful enough not to reveal personal details of their patients.

In short, PROSECUTION FAILED! No social contract and symphaty gained by the complainer. PERIOD.

ano ba muna ang purpose ng pictures? educational ba? may pinirmahan ba na consent iyong pt na puedeng ishare sa public at may record ba na inexplain sa pt ang true objective nito? besides the pt may approval ba sa dept like risk mgt, ethics committe or school advisors? BTW, wearing gloves does not mean sterile...nakamask din ba sila?

    To Prince:

Again, it is only my opinion based on what I know about ethics and what I’ve seen in that link. I found that link interesting and educating. I’ve never seen a cervix before! Personally, I still believe that this is an issue of internet censorship and not ethics.

Are you saying it was unethical because the link didn’t have a purpose, consent, and approval? Based on what you saw alone, how did you know? If that link was unethical, please explain why?

first of all, if you are in the medical field, you already know the importance of consent, privacy, respect, and dignity of the patient. here in the US, we have a strict law and policy about it and maybe read something about HIPAA so you will understand. no consent (explaining to the patient about the purpose of the pictures and make sure that he/she agreed to it---same token dapat ok ang orientation at pagiisip ng pt) from the patient or family members meaning you can't post it anywhere....if you wanna learn about the cervix go look at the atlas, medical books, and medical journals. for sure they are legal.

since you mentioned that the link is educational, can you share to us more about it?

I'm sorry but I didn't see any HIPAA violation here. As I said before, there was no violation with the right to privacy or confidentiality. It didn’t show patient’s face or personal information. They were careful not to expose patient's identity. There was no physical or emotional harm done to the patient.  The viewers may have been violated but not the patient. So, I believe it is an issue of internet censorship. If this was a movie, it should be flagged as Rated R or even X.

I'm sorry but there was no HIPAA violation here.

siempre dahil wala namang hipaa sa pinas....the point is dapat malinaw nga kung may consent ang pasyente...sabi may consent, then anong details nito?

Oh speaking of bading hehehe. medyo di related pero insert ko pa rin.

A few weeks ago my friend went to a confession with a priest. Right after my friend's confession as we got out the Church, my friend was wondering and asked me what does it mean by the priest's one question during the confession. Tinanong daw nung pari KUNG NAG-MAMASTURBATE DAW SIYA. Sabi nang friend ko, "Pati ba naman yun tinatanong?". Ako nga din naguluhan din. Sa loob loob ko, di ko maiwasan na bigyan nang malisya, na baka naman bading ang pari hehehe.

I guess next time, he will think twice before he enters that same church again. Good thing it was not the church we regularly go.

I guess they've learned their lesson there. Dun naman sa situasyon na yun, , relatively big size, old church na nasa heart of the city mismo, working day, mainit at noon time pa yun, at may 5-6 church goers, in short, kung sino man ang nan dun sa simbahan na yun at that time, hindi magtatagal kasi nakakaboring that day.
