BIR’s VAT collections up 4% to P121B in 10 mos

     My 2 cents.

    1. I think there could have been more than just a 4% increase if only the underlings collecting taxes are not SO greedy as to pocket 60% of the total collection from a certain company and send only 40% back to the bureau.

    2. If a company has been paying a certain amount of tax for a period of time and it goes down because SALES WENT DOWN, the underlings would think that the company is cheating their tax computations. The underlings always want companies to pay high taxes because they want to be able to pocket MORE MONEY.

I don't hate the bureau. I hate the people working under it. The sad thing is that there is no one to protect us because everyone would want something IN RETURN.

1 - Open the white pages of the phone book and look up under Philippine government the number for the office of the ombudsman in Manila. There should be a customer service number listed.

2 - Using your cell phone call the number listed and ask to speak with the manager on duty. Tell this person you have confidential information regarding anomalies in the BIR collections and would like to meet with them in person.

3 - Would be a good idea if you have your attorney present when you meet with the BIR representatives and let it be known you are merely acting as a responsible private citizen and are not someone with a malicious ulterior motive so that this can be documented during your interview.

    Good Luck to you!

The Ombudsman is another sick entity of our government. There are tons of cases buried under the seats of Ombudsman offices across the country. We all know the reason behind that scenario, but let's continue to hope for a change.

If that's true, then the office itself needs to be revamped and replaced with seminarians. Pampanga Gov. Eddie Panlilio had the same idea with the treasurer's office in Pampanga that was in charge of collecting quarry taxes from the gravel and sand companies that have been removing lahar in dump trucks from the province. In his first 28 days in office Among Ed collected more quarry taxes than the entire previous year when Mark Lapid was governor. Goes to show how much corruption was going on in Pampanga. Next stop is jueteng lord Bong Pineda who is actually in cahoots with Vice-Gov. Joseller "Yeng" Guiao and the corrupt mayors/vice-mayors of the province.

Btw, "hoping" for change is not the same thing as doing something concrete to effect change. Stamping out corruption is not the same thing as "hoping" corruption will go away. To stamp out corruption, you just go ahead and do precisely that.
