what the hell IS Dennis Roldan doing out of jail?

Dennis Roldan raises eyebrows at ISAFP
WHAT was former Quezon City Rep. Dennis Roldan doing inside the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP) yesterday morning?

Highly-placed sources told People’s Tonight  that Roldan graced the regular flag-raising ceremony and addressed the uniformed and non-uniformed personnel in ISAFP  compound in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

Roldan is the prime accused in the kidnap of a three-year-old boy two years ago in Pasig City.

The reliable source inside Camp Aguinaldo revealed that Roldan, Mitchell Gumagao in real life, even led a prayer before addressing some 100 personnel at the flag ceremony.

“After leading a prayer, he spoke in front of the personnel and explained that he was innocent in the kidnapping case against him,” the source told People’s Tonight.

The source added that several ISAFP agents were demoralized with the presence of Roldan, as they said that the former QC official has “no business” in their unit.

Roldan allegedly even told the ISAFP personnel that the policemen erred in arresting him as he was not involved in the kidnapping of Kenshi Yu last Feb. 9, 2005 in Pasig City.

The source also disclosed that ISAFP chief Brig. Gen. Arsenio Arugay was also present during the flag ceremony last Dec. 3. Roldan was allegedly personally invited by a ranking  ISAFP official.

“Tumagal ng halos limang minuto ang pagsasalita niya,” the source noted.

ISAFP members were earlier investigated for their alleged participation in the controversial Hello Garci scandal. They were also questioned regarding the disappearance of several activitists, including Jonas Burgos.

Meanwhile, Teresita Ang See, of the Movement for the Restoration of Peace and Order and Citizen’s Action Against Crime and Corruption, fumed upon learning about the incident.

“Ano ba ’yan? It is really an insult to our flag and to the Filipino people. Naturingang intelligence sila pero wala silang intelligence; they are oxymoron,” See said in a telephone interview.

See told Tonight that her sources inside Camp Aguinaldo also confirmed to her Roldan’s presence.

“Na-confirm ko na talagang he graced the flag raising. Ang hindi ko lang alam, kung sinong nag-invite sa kanya. Nakakahiya ang ISAFP, hindi ba nila alam na ang kaso ni Roldan ay versus the people  of the Philippines kaya dapat ’yung tao ang protektahan nila hindi ’yung criminal,” she said.

See also questioned what  Roldan was doing inside the ISAFP compound. “Anong ginagawa niya du’n (ISAFP)? Hindi siya dapat nandu’n,” she stressed.

The anti-crime crusader added that their group will write a formal letter to the ISAFP chief and ask for an explanation.

In earlier court proceedings, a witness testified that Roldan personally negotiated with the parents of the kidnapped three-year-old boy for the release of millions of pesos in ransom.

Anthony Luen Fernandez, an official from the Smart Telecommunications, was able to open the SIM card of the cellphone recovered in possession of Roldan.

The cellphone revealed text messages from the boy’s mother, Jenny Yu, pleading to the abductors to accept the family’s offer of P2,639,500 as they cannot raise the P200 million demanded from them.

Fernandez revealed the incriminating evidence against Roldan and co-accused during the continuation of the hearing before the sala of Judge Rodolfo Bonifacio last Nov. 27.
