ABS-CBN News Partners With Knights of Rizal to Promote Hero's Values

ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs formalized its partnership with the Order of the Knights of Rizal (KOR) Friday to create public awareness and support for the month-long celebration of the life and heroism of Jose Rizal this December.

ABS-CBN News will help the KOR via a social media campaign for activities during the Rizal Month, and certain related endeavors after that.

The activities will be anchored on the theme "Buhayin si Rizal sa Bawat Pilipino".

The centerpiece activity shall be the Twitter social media campaign encouraging Filipinos to identify values or characteristics of Rizal they empathize with or want to emulate.

These tweets carrying the hashtag #justlikerizal shall appear on the abs-cbnnews.com/joserizal -- a site put up by ABS-CBN to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of the National Hero -- which is being refurbished for the Rizal Month.

"Our main purpose is to inculcate and promote the ideals and life of Rizal not only to the youth but to all classes of society," KOR Supreme Commander Reghis Romero II said.

Romero signed the MOA for the KOR, along with Deputy Supreme Commander Jeremias Singson and Supreme Exchequer Diosdado Santos.

He said his group aims to educate the youth on how they could participate in nation-building and inspire them to be leaders through the values taught by Rizal.

Ging Reyes, who signed for ABS-CBN, said she personally advocates promoting the values of Rizal.

Also present as witness to the signing was News Digital Media Head Anna Rodriguez-dela Cruz.

ABS-CBN News' citizen journalism advocacy program, Bayan Mo iPatrol Mo: Tayo Na, will also participate in the Bloggers' Day on December 1, which kicks off the month-long celebration, and the 50th National Rizal Youth Leadership Institute Conference on December 13 to 16.

On December 30, the KOR is set to do a reenactment of the transfer of the National Hero's urn from Tondo to Luneta to commemorate the 100th anniversary of this historical event.
