MANILA -- The highly anticipated film version of the "kilig-serye" starring Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap is no longer competing in this year's Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), organizers announced Thursday.

"Be Careful With My Heart: The Movie" has been withdrawn as an entry to the annual event, according to Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairperson Francis Tolentino.

Speaking with radio dzMM's Dennis Datu, Tolentino said he received Star Cinema's letter formalizing the withdrawal on Thursday afternoon.

The ABS-CBN film production outfit, in its letter, explained that the decision to pull out the movie is due to the "tight schedule" of the cast and crew of "Be Careful With My Heart" in shooting the ongoing series.

Directed by Jeffrey Jeturian, who also helms the daytime soap, "Be Careful With My Heart: The Movie" was billed as the continuation of the love story of Maya (Sta. Maria) and Sir Chief (Yap) as seen on television.

Sta. Maria, in an earlier interview, explained that the series was to end temporarily to lead in to the movie version, with the story resuming on TV after the annual film fest.

It is unclear whether Star Cinema will still push through with the production of the film on a later date, after the MMFF.

According to Tolentino, the slot of "Be Careful With My Heart: The Movie" is now vacated, which means a film among those that have been submitted as early this year may be tapped to complete the eight-film line-up in time for the festival's Christmas Day opening.

Several changes

The withdrawal of "Be Careful With My Heart" from the 39th MMFF is the latest shake-up among the official entries to the annual event.

Director Joyce Bernal was originally credited to helm the Kris Aquino-produced "Torky and My Little Bossing," but eventually had to pick the Robin Padilla-starrer "10,000 Hours" over the comedy film.

As per MMFF rules, a participating director can only helm one competing project.

Lead roles in two other entries have also undergone a recast, with Sam Milby replacing Piolo Pascual in "Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel," and Rocco Nacino replacing JM de Guzman in "San Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martir."

Gabby Concepcion was likewise originally attached to co-star in the Wenn Deramas comedy film "Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy," but has since been replaced by Joey Marquez.

Before "Be Careful With My Heart: The Movie," the film entry starring Bong Revilla, "My Super Kap," was also pulled out from the MMFF, citing the conflicting schedules of leading ladies Toni Gonzaga and Ai Ai delas Alas.

Be Careful with My Heart Movie No Longer Part of MMFF 2013

Posted on September 12, 2013 | 10:29 PM

The movie version of ABS-CBN's hit daytime drama Be Careful with My Heart will no longer be part of this year's Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF 2013).

The continuation of Maya and Ser Chief's love story via Be Careful with My Heart Movie will no longer be seen on MMFF 2013

MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino confirmed in a report by Dennis Datu on DZMM that Be Careful with My Heart backed out of the annual festival. According to the said report, the MMFF 2013 organizing committee received Star Cinema's letter formalizing the withdrawal on Thursday afternoon.

Star Cinema, in its letter, explained that they decided to pull out the movie due to the "tight schedule" of the cast and crew of Be Careful with My Heart. Apparently, it was difficult to shoot for the movie while everyone's still busy taping the ongoing series.

There are no confirmations yet whether the production of the film will still push through even after this year's Metro Manila Film Festival.

With Be Careful with My Heart's withdrawal from MMFF 2013, one slot is again vacated and ready to be occupied by a film to be chosen by the organizing committee from among the 15 shortlisted ones to complete the eight official entries.

Before Be Careful with My Heart, Bong Revilla's My Super Kap, which is suppose to bring the senator on the big screen opposite Ai Ai Delas Alas and Toni Gonzaga was also pulled out from the MMFF due to conflicting schedules of the Kapamilya leading ladies.

MANILA – Actress Jodi Sta. Maria admitted she is also sad that the film version of her hit daytime series “Be Careful With My Heart” had to withdraw from this year's Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

Despite this, Sta. Maria told ABS-CBN News that she can’t do anything but follow the orders of the management.

Iyon talaga ang naging problema,” she said.

But asked if a movie version of the “kilig serye” is still possible on a later date, Sta.

Last week, Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairperson Francis Tolentino said he received Star Cinema's letter formalizing the withdrawal of the film.

Maria) and Sir Chief (Richard Yap) as seen on television.

Jeffrey Jeturian says Be Careful With My Heart movie version to push through next year
by Julie Bonifacio posted on November 3, 2013  STATS: 8349 Views | 8 Comments

Wala kaming pondo for airing.

“Sa akin pareho, e, either way.

Kasi nga, at least, maalagaan din yung TV [show].”

It could have been Direk Jeffrey’s second time na mapasama ang pelikula niya sa MMFF.

“In a  way disappointed ako kasi exciting yung ano, e, may entry ka sa filmfest.

Matatapos na ba this year ang Be Careful With My Heart?

“Parang hindi, haha! Oo, tuloy pa rin,” ngiti niya.

Kumusta naman ang ratings ng show?

“Ah, malakas pa rin. Consistent naman  kami. Maintained yung rating.

Be Careful With My Heart. Ano’ng masasabi niya rito?

“E, kasi lahat in preparation for the wedding. Pero ikakasal naman na, e.  Ie-ere ang kasal  ngayong November. Then next year, honeymoon, mabubuntis, magkakaanak.”

Kahit ‘di natuloy sa MMF this year, may possibility ba na matuloy pa rin ang movie version ng Be Careful With My Heart next year?

“Ah, oo. Hindi naman binibitawan yung plano na magka-movie.”
Isasali ulit nila sa MMFF next year?

“Hindi ko alam. Pwedeng sa regular run or sa filmfest.”

What’s the best date for him na ipalabas ang movie version ng Be Careful With My Heart?
