What's next for Marian Rivera on ABS-CBN

MANILA -- ABS-CBN viewers will see more of GMA-7 star Marian Rivera in the coming weeks, as the actress gears up for the premiere of her Star Cinema-produced film, "Kung Fu Divas."

At the sidelines of a bloggers' conference held Thursday for the action-comedy flick, the 29-year-old actress confirmed she is set to appear in at least one Kapamilya program as part of the movie's promotional campaign.

Asked if there is a particular ABS-CBN show she wishes to appear on, Rivera said, "Kahit saan naman pwede, basta papayagan ako ng network ko."

A prized contract artist of GMA-7, Rivera made headlines on Wednesday when she visited the ABS-CBN compound to attend a meeting about "Kung Fu Divas," which she co-stars with Ai Ai delas Alas.

The Onat Diaz-directed film, which opens on October 2, marks the first team-up of both actresses. This is also the first time Rivera is starring in an ABS-CBN-backed project.

The film is a co-production among the two lead stars, Star Cinema, Reality Entertainment, and The O&Co. Picture Factory Inc.

On Thursday, Rivera related that her recent visit to ABS-CBN isn't the first time she has been inside the Quezon City headquarters.

She recalled being an intern in the human resources division of the Kapamilya network in 2004.

Mag-si-xerox, mag-ta-type, so 'yun 'yung na-experience ko," she said, laughing.

As to her experience returning to the same ABS-CBN building as a sought-after actress, Rivera said, "Syempre, nakakatuwa dahil ang sarap ng pagtanggap nila, ang babait ng mga tao sa akin dito, so nakakatuwa."

Asked if she felt nervous about her visit, the actress added, "Hindi siguro kaba. More on na-excite, more on saya 'yung pakiramdam dahil finally eh makikilala 'yung mga taga-rito."

Noting the numerous starring roles of another GMA-7 star, her long-time partner Dingdong Dantes, in Star Cinema projects, Rivera expressed confidence that this won't be her last time collaborating with ABS-CBN.

Kaya nagpapasalamat ako na may mga ganitong pagkakataon," she said.

No animosity between Angel, Marian

Posted at 09/18/2013 2:34 PM | Updated as of 09/18/2013 3:04 PM

MANILA – Angel Locsin denied rumors of an animosity between her and Marian Rivera, who was once her rival when they were still in the same television network.

For the first time, Locsin opened up on what happened when she met Rivera for the shoot of the cover of the September 2013 cover of Rogue Magazine.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Locsin said it was a very pleasant meeting that was meant to happen.

“Nakakatuwa na nagkita kami. First time namin magkita after mag-move and all. Sabi ko kailangan naming mag-usap. Tumawa siya tapos sabi niya, ‘Oo nga eh.’ Niyakap ko siya, niyakap niya ako, tawa lang kami ng tawa,” she said.

While they really didn’t have issues with each other, Locsin admitted that their relationship somehow became affected because they were always being pitted against each other in the past.

“Sa amin, wala kaming issue, wala kaming away. Siguro naging aloof kami sa isa’t isa kasi laging naco-compare. Kahit anong gawin namin, may manlalait sa akin na fan niya, or may manlalait sa kanya na fan ko,” she said.

She added: “Wala namang ginawa sa aking masama si Marian. Nung ‘Shop and Share,’ humingi pa ako ng donations sa kanya – mga gowns and bags. Pinuntahan ko siya sa bahay niya.”

Proving she really has nothing against the Kapuso actress, Locsin said she is open to working with her in a project when the right time comes.

Baka hindi pa naaayon pero wala kaming problema,” she said.

Locsin said she is just happy that they were given the chance to bond during the magazine pictorial.

Aside from Locsin and Rivera, the cover of Rogue’s September 2013 issue also featured Anne Curtis, Judy Ann Santos and Charlene Gonzales.

Wearing pieces from Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter Collection 2013, the ladies were styled by Pam Quiñones for the cover, which was photographed by Mark Nicdao.

Ai Ai says it will take time before she heals

ABS-CBNnews.com

Comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas

MANILA – Comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas said she is still far from the finish line when it comes to her healing process following the failure of her marriage with businessman Jed Salang.

“Sa 100%, nasa 35% to 40% pa lang ako. Malayo pa. May mga times na [umiiyak pa rin ako sa gabi] pero not about the person but about the situation,” she told ABS-CBN News in an interview.

Delas Alas said her heart grew tired after what happened and she is giving it time to rest before she falls in love again.

“For the record, hindi pa ako ready for anything. Mga three or four [years pa siguro bago ako maging ready],” she said.

Delas Alas shocked the public when she broke down on "The Buzz" last May as she confirmed that she and her husband for a month have already separated.

Delas Alas revealed then that Salang physically abused her, making her decide to leave him last May 2.

Because of this, the comedienne said her children have become more protective of her, adding that they have vowed to screen her future suitors.

“Sinabi ni Sancho na ‘Ngayon I think mas mahihirapan sila maka-penetrate sayo kasi pahihirapan namin sila.’ Kawawa naman kung sino 'yung sila. Naging overprotective sila, may screening committee. Si Nikki hindi masyado pero 'yung dalawa mahigpit,” she said.

Delas Alas said her children never intervened in her past relationships. But due to what happened, they felt the need to protect her against people who would also hurt her in the future.

Isip isip lang kapag may time,” she said.

Despite this, delas Alas said she is open to forgiving Salang in the future.

Ai Ai gets 'anti-negativity' ring from Kris

ABS-CBNnews.com

MANILA - Host-actress Kris Aquino once again showed her generosity to her celebrity friend, comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas, by giving her a ring.

On her morning show "Kris TV" on Thursday, Aquino willingly gave her aquamarine ring to delas Alas, saying that it helps ward off negativity.

"Okay lang, gusto mo iyo na? Hindi siya ganoon kamahal, promise. Kunin mo na para ma-happy ka lang. True 'yan, 'di 'yan fake, ha," Aquino said.

"Alam mo why, 'yung batong 'yan daw perfect for you.

To which Aquino replied, "Oo nga, para lumayo silang lahat sa'yo."

Delas Alas broke up with her husband, businessman Jed Salang, one day before they celebrate their first month as a married couple.

She admitted in a previous interview that their fights were becoming more physical.

The comedienne recently spent a month-long vacation in United States with her children to help her cope with the separation.

Meanwhile, delas Alas put an end to rumors saying that she is dating anew.

This after a photo of her and a certain "Brazilian guy" made the rounds online.

For first time, Marian appears on 'Kris TV'

MANILA - Actress Marian Rivera made a guest appearance for the first time on the ABS-CBN morning show "Kris TV" hosted by Kris Aquino.

Rivera, a prized talent of rival network GMA-7, appeared on "Kris TV" with comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas to promote their film, "Kung Fu Divas."

One of the producers of the film, Rivera said she got inspired by the successful projects co-produced by her boyfriend, actor Dingdong Dantes.

"Well siguro isa 'yan sa dahilan, pero ang dahilan ko ay gusto ko talaga maging producer," she said.

Rivera shared that she and Dantes have been dating for five years, and only laughed when Aquino said that they are planning to tie the knot soon.

While they are doing well as a couple, Rivera said she would rather not do business with Dantes.

"Ayaw ko, ayaw ko. Kasi maano si Dong sa ganyan [sa business], so sasabihin ko ikaw na lang," said Rivera, who is into the apartment business.

"30 doors [puro sa] Bacoor, Cavite," added the actress, who said that her business is being handled by her mother.

After Marian, Dingdong magiging madalas din sa Kapamilya!

Ni Salve V. Asis (Pilipino Star Ngayon) | Updated September 22, 2013 - 12:00am

MANILA, Philippines - Sabay na tumapak sa bakuran ng ABS-CBN ang Kapuso Primetime King and Queen Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera the other night.

PSN ( Article MRec ), pagematch: 1, sectionmatch:

Kailangan talaga siyang panoorin.”

Na-enjoy ko yung film. =)

May slapstick elements yes (for example yung paglangoy ni Madam Gluta (Nova Villa) papuntang Chin Chan Su, anlakas lang maka-Wenn Deramas ng peg ), pero I can say na may depth talaga story-wise and visuals-wise.

I like how it depicted the concept of beauty na prevalent amongst us Filipinos. How Samantha (Marian/Cacai) thought na it's her ticket for true love, while how Charlotte (Ai Ai) thought na it's something that would make her belong sa pamilya niya. And how Kojic's dad preserved his by taking the eternal youth elixir.

And I like din how it contrasted destiny vs. action. Sa simula, Samantha disdained the concept of destiny, something na kinakapitan naman ni Charlotte in her quest to finally win the Hiyas ng Dalampasigan after like 17 tries. Pero sa bandang huli, Samantha finally believed na destiny is a factor, just as Charlotte finally showed na she did something when she saved her dad and sister and she earned the crown sa tribe nila.

For me, Marian stood out acting-wise. She's a natural comedienne and she deserves materials like this. Ai Ai has elements na pinakita na niya in her other films, pero good to see na nagbibigay siya kay Marian.

Edward Mendez is love, I mean both his body and portrayal of dual roles. And talagang ang hirap bitawan ng post-credit scenes. :))

This is one film na I don't mind na gawan ng sequel. May hints eh. :D
