    Re: On Beijing 2008 Olympics

just being able to participate in the Olympics is already an achievement of the Philippines!

lets augment our support our players morally, spiritually and most specially, financially. kulang lang tayo sa supporta ng govierno. lets put also those coaches, trainors and staffs that are committed and passionate in sports and stay away those who are only interested in enriching themselves.

CONGRATS TEAM PHILIPPINES!  we are proud of you...

    Re: On Beijing 2008 Olympics

i i don't think you're right on this bro. As far as i can remember, we were able to collect silver medals (at least) in the previous olympic games. Lalo na yung kapanahunan ni marcos, we dominate in the ASEAN games. Ang problema ngayon, bukod sa ibinubulsa nila ang pondo for the proper training of our athletes, napasukan na rin ng politika ang larangan ng sports sa ating bansa. WALANG BENEFITS ANG MGA ATHLETES! A good examble is that of Jaime Sebastian......no one else beat his records in the ASEAN GAMES when it comes to Weightlifting. Do you have any idea kung nasaan siya ngayon??? NASA ZAMBOANGA, PARALYZED! WALANG TULONG NA NAKUKUHA FROM OUR GOVERNMENT. PABAYA ANG GOBYERNO! PURO BULSA NILA ANG INIINTINDI NILA!!! SO DON'T SAY NA SAPAT NA ANG MAY ENTRY LANG ANG PINAS SA OLYMPICS!!!

    Re: On Beijing 2008 Olympics

yep its time for a revamp... infact every sport official shouldve been given a term of 4 years then after every olympics their performance should be evelauated... if they fail they should leave their post if lets say they gained something or improve their sport association then give them an extention in their term and provide them more financially... if a sport association did not qualify for the olympics then cut their term and put on a new person to head the nsa... if the sport association is not an olympic sport then find the biggest competition and use it as the basis of evaluation instead of the olympics...

these sports leaders say that we can win this medal and that medal in this sport... then all of a sudden the athletes will loose and not even reach the medal stage.... it's pretty dissappointing... all these heads are like releasing press releases almost everyday before the olympics then after the results came out of olympics most of them suddenly kept quiet... an example probably would be swimming... before the olympics they all said we can win this and that and that our athletes is this good and that good... well c'mon... yeah they are good, yeah they qualify for the olympics and yeah they trained abroad... but hey look at their best time... does their time near the time of their oponents? is their time near enough like lets say a second or 3 second from their top oponent that a few more training would push them past the top athlete in their sport? worst our swimmers does not even wear the best swimming suit... if you want to win then wear the best suit that can possibly help the athletes win... is it because you have a sponsor that stops you from wearing the best suit or gear? c'mon in fact most country even the US and i also think japan had found a way not to follow their sponsor and instead wear the best possible suit because they know it's the best and it could help them win....

we are filipinos, our country are like surrounded by waters, how come almost all our swimmers are fil foreign... it doesnt seem like there is a grass root program for athletes... if we want to win.. these sports associations should start from the bottom which is the kids... put on local competitions, pick the best and train them, spend like crazy money for these kids if they want to win in the olympics... how come when pacquaio was an amateur he did not compete in the olympics? were are the sports officials? who should have seen him box and train him and send him to compete in the olympics and maybe we already have a gold by now...

    Re: On Beijing 2008 Olympics

    Re: On Beijing 2008 Olympics

I used to work for the Phil Sports Comm for almost 13 yrs under 4 Phil. presidents and up to Chairman Butch Tuason's time.  Pa ulit ulit na lang tayo.  Every Asian, SEA games, Olympics we always call for revamp, stricter monitoring, accountability, resignation, etc.  Almost all sports leaders have the same aspiration naman.  The problem I see is alam naman natin kung ano problema pero pag may naupo ng iba nagpapa pogi kung ano-ano gagawin kunyari na programa pero iniba lang pangalan.  Accept it. You don't need to go to Harvard or UP to know that.  Example, Ibang-iba ang sports program dito sa US at Developed countries so baka (sigurado pala)  kulang tayo sa infrastructures. Ganoon ba yon?  Bakit Indonesia & Thailand kahit saan country OK sila.  Please stop or minimize support for the non performing NSAs.  But don't meddle with their officials.  They get what they deserve.  Sila nagboboto ng mga leaders nila so Bayaan mo silang ngumawa!  Ex. of NSAs with very little chance for an Olympic gold  are  Football, Table Tennis, Swimming, mga team sports,  etc. Yun lang pwede and maybe we should focus on the 2016 olympics or mga Asian games lang muna.    Why not bring back Philip Juico or Cecil Hechanova.  Question is, gusto pa kaya nila?

    Re: On Beijing 2008 Olympics

One more thing,  Nagtataka lang ako kay Mr Ramirez, (Chairman, wala tayong masamang tinapay) ang tagal mo na sa PSC bago ka nag Chair tapos sinasabi mo ngayon na let us find out or identify the sports na may talagang may potential.  You can ask  Algodon or yung mga SGRO nyo or Boy D or any old timer sa PSC and they can answer that.  Maybe the right term is "let us start and be serious" tamaan ang tamaan. OK ba Chairman.

Big Boss, you must be a politician or corporate executive. You wrote three paragraphs, approximately five hundred words and said absolutely; "NOTHING". What is needed in all non-professional sporting programs is for the 'politicians' and 'sports media' to stop interfering.

The majority of the public elementary schools (out side of Metro Manila) don't even have enough text books to provide one copy for each child. The class rooms are little more than "cow sheds" and there is no provision an for athletic competition. A very few have enough space for any type of athletic program. I won't even mention that the teachers are shamefully under paid, therefore most of them are sub-standard.

    Re: On Beijing 2008 Olympics

Talagang sinuportahan at ginstusan nila malayo pa man ang Olympics game. Sooner is always better than later.

    Re: On Beijing 2008 Olympics

ZERO, (0), NONE, WALA, medals for the Philippines.... Buti pa ang Malaysia and Indonesia. Looks like Indonesia will get more medals this Olympic event than the number of medals the Philippines got since they start  attending  Olympics.  Buti pa ang Thailand and Taiwan...  Kasi pag magsalita and Senate or Congress akala mo kung sinong pinakamagaling sa mundo. Buti pa ang Afghanistan may medal. Its obvious that this war-torn country is showing some progress. Pinas ZERO, (0), NONE, WALA!!!!!

    Re: On Beijing 2008 Olympics

The International Olympic committee should add "Pointing Fingers Event" as a sport in the Olympics in London for 2012. I guarantee the Philippines will SWEEP all the medals; probably two will tie for the silver and bronze. That makes FIVE or SIX medals in one Olympic event for the Philippines. Thats the only event that medals will be awarded to Philippine -"wanna be"- athletes. Pimentel, Lacson, Escodero, and LEgarda will probably get the 400m IM relay for "Pointing Fingers Event" breaking a World Record.

    Re: On Beijing 2008 Olympics

My 2 kids are into taekwondo.

    Re: On Beijing 2008 Olympics

i agree with the suggestio above.. kasi sayang talaga yung kay tsomlee. he should have won the match... tsk tsk.... yan tuloy ala tayong medal.. eh muka pang di pumasok sa finals tumalo kay toni para man lang may repechage...

sana next olympics mas solid yung support ng government para man lang ganahan yung athletes. kasi if not for the private companies na nagsponsor sa kanila di din ganun katindi yung naging training nila ( the jins was supported by MVP i think)

    Re: On Beijing 2008 Olympics

we should change the whole system, the program that our Olympic committee is already becoming a relic of an ancient world, and its becoming a cycle already. we may point our fingers to politics( since they are half the blame of what goes on in our Olympic program), but we should also face the fact that most of our athletes still do not have the "Olympic-genetic-make-up", the talent is there but not the build. I'm proud of our athletes, we just need to find something better. lastly, our pockets don't run deep like other countries. winning the Olympics is not just about athletic prowess, its also about "who's-got-the-money-to-run-the-whole-show". Economics 101 - USA, China, Great Britain - they make the world go around....

    Re: On Beijing 2008 Olympics

bakit may mga bansa na mahirap (sudan) at maliit lang (jamaica) pero nanalo sa olympics...i look at the diving competition, ang liliit ng intsik pero dominante nila ang laban? maraming laban na hindi luge ang mga pinoy so bakit walang umubra? gov't support and financing maybe?

    Re: On Beijing 2008 Olympics

Definitely there is a need for a change especially leaders of NSAs.

NSAs are mostly ruled by politicians who doesn't have a deep knowledge to the sport they are tasked to handle. Their seats should be offered to people who know the sport by heart and to those who possess a deep passion for it.
