Sheryn admits being sore at Erik
IT'S been two years since Sheryn Regis became runnerup to Erik Santos
in the first "Star in A Million" contest. "Marami na kong naipundar
since then," she says. "I was able to buy a condo unit herefor my
family and get my parents from Cebu to live with me. Inamin ko na
ring I have a husband and a baby. Dati walang pumapansin sa 'kin.
Ngayon marami ng humihingi ng autograph ko and I enjoy it."
She admits she was sore when she lost to Erik. "But we're now the
best of friends. When we do shows abroad, we help each other at nagba-
back up pa ako sa kanya."
Erik has a debut album and a CD lite. Sheryn has now released her
second full length album, "What I Do Best," launched at Bagaberde.
When her first album was launched at Dish, we noticed her projection
was like that of a female faggot. This time, she is more refined on
stage and even her singing is more polished.
"I'm a more mature singer in my new album. Sa una kasi, pa-tweetums
pa ako. In the second album, I have no fast songs, only love songs,
most of which aretouching and I think I'm more able to internalize
andexpress the emotions in each song this time."
How come she's now dubbed the Crystal Voice of Asia. "They say it's
because my voice is crystal clear and di ba I won in the Voice of
Asia contest?"
Her second album has ten songs. The first single is the title track
itself, "What I Do Best." So what does she do best? "Making music, of
course. Singing from my heart."
Three Tagalog songs are potential hits: "Sa Piling Mo" by Marlone
Silva, "Dahil Nagmamahal" by Ricky Sanchezand "Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan
Ka" by Vehnee Saturno. The album has "Sabihin Mo Sa Akin",the theme
song of "Kampanerang Kuba." Other English songs are "I Don't Want You
to Go," "On My Own," "If Ever I See You Again," and the songs which
won for her the first prize in many amateur contests, Diana
Ross' "When You Tell Me That You Love Me."
