Why I think I can't be an actress...
By RACHELLE ANN GO
"Search for a Star" champion Rachelle Ann Go has a new hit
single "Here I Am Again," written and produced by Jimmy Antiporda for
her self-titled debut album. It is the fastest rising new release in
the charts these days. She recently shot the video for the song with
leading man Carlo Aquino and the award-winning director Martin
Aviles, whose work with Anton Diva's "6 Feet" won him the grand prize
in the music video category of the Levi Music Festival a year ago.
Here below, in her own words, Rachelle Ann recounts the experience.
We shot at the Tivoli Royale Clubhouse in Commonwealth, in Quezon
City. Nice place. Quiet, dark and romantic. But it started out funny
because there was not enough light for the make-up artist to do my
face. Madilim kasi. Super tingala ako while Mama Rudy Adriatico was
doing my make-up. Ang sakit ng leeg ko after.
The director wanted me to have curly hair for the video. Another
sacrifice. Sobrang dry ng hair ko. No effect ang curling iron. It
took us two hours to finish my hair. I felt so lanta and we haven't
even begun shooting.
The video is about two lovers who cannot be because the parents of
the girl are against her boyfriend. May acting daw! That was why they
asked Carlo Aquino to be my leading man. He is a good actor. But we
laughed all throughout the rehearsal with the acting director Miguel
Vasquez. Ang hirap mag-emote. Niloloko ako ni Carlo. Grabe makatitig.
Nako-conscious tuloy ako. Hindi yata ako puwedeng artista.
It was hard but we managed to get serious na rin. He was so good.
Honestly it almost felt real. I think I was able to show what the
director wanted. I should look at him as though I love him very much
but my body should push him away because I couldn't go against my
parents. As for Carlo, he was so intense. Feel na feel ko. Parang
totoong he didn't want to lose me. Nakakadala ang acting niya.
Retouch. Retouch. It was so hot in the hall and my hair was going
limp kaya poor Mama Rudy had to curl it again and again.
The set was beautiful. It was a masquerade party with lots of guests
who were smoking everywhere! I couldn't breathe. I was going dizzy
but I told myself, don't, don't. Pinapaganda nila ang video mo. Do
you think this mask would keep the smoke away? Di bale na kung hindi.
Feel ko naman ay si Hilary Duff ako sa "Cinderella Story." Now all I
need was my Prince Charming. Nasaan kaya siya?
It's a take! Shiny nose. Limp hair. Ano kaya ang labas ko nito? Maybe
they should just listen to the song and look at the gown by Nono
Palmos. Yun kasi ang maganda. Not me.
It is 5 a.m. Time for the souvenir shot. We shot for 12 hours with no
rest. Limp hair pa rin but all smiles na ako. "It's a wrap! " This
was my very soft spoken director na hindi yata marunong magalit. Ang
lakas ng boses niya and very demanding. Nakaka-nerbiyos. Mahirap
talaga ang mag-artista.
This is for the press releases. Kami naman ni Carlo ngayon. Bagay ba?
But seriously, it was so nice of him to join me in the video. I am so
grateful. Ganoon na rin to Martin and Miguel and Jimmy for the song.
And to everybody who helped with the song and the video. Thank you
from the bottom of my heart.
