By ISAH V. REDThe feedback she’s been getting for her turn in ABS-CBN’s new telenovela, Bituing Walang Ningning, is making Sarah Geronimo real giddy. Not that the notices have been unfavorable, but au contraire they are positive much to her surprise.
The series, although not rating higher than its competitor, is the highest-rating series among the ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida programs.
Sarah, say critics, is able to do justice to the role that made Sharon Cuneta an acting icon since her turn in the movie several decades ago. Sarah, however, doesn’t let herself be sidetracked by comments that her talents lay in singing than acting. What is important to her is that she comes across as a believable Dorina.
“I don’t let negative comments get me down. I’m happy with the way my career his going and I’m counting my blessings,” she says.
She’s happy that Bituin is gaining viewers not only in Metro Manila but in the provinces and among the subscribers of The Filipino Channel as well.
“I’m grateful to my fans for their support,” she says, flashing a bright smile. Aside from appearing in Bituin, Sarah also hosts the Little Big Star, ABS-CBN’s talent search program for kids. Because of the show’s popularity, the network is holding regional searches in Cebu, Davao, and Baguio.
Sarah has a lot of offers to do shows abroad, thanks to The Filipino Channel. It seems that Filipinos living overseas can’t get enough of her on television and want to see her in a live performance.
She, however, is tied up by her commitments here, so she won’t be leaving the country just yet.
Aside from her TV shows, Sarah is starting to cut a new record for Viva Records. She just finished a pictorial for the cover of the album which is due for release very soon.
