I ALWAYS have a blast when I’m a guest in “Homeboy.” My “sister in Christ” Boy Abunda really knows how to draw in his guests and audience. In my book, he’s the best talk show host because when he asks you a question, you can feel that he’s really interested in what your answer will be. Even if he does the show daily, no line or gesture is ever perfunctory.

Our topic for today’s show, which was taped Tuesday, was “My Mom, My Hero.” Aside from my gay son IC and myself, other guests were Aiza Seguerra and her Mommy Caring, Geoff Eigenmann and his mom Gina Alajar. Before the cameras rolled, we all had a good laugh because Mommy Caring was insisting that Aiza should give her an apo and that she wants the dad to be IC!

Aiza and IC were game about the idea. Being the free spirit that I am, I have no objections, either. Aiza and IC were schoolmates in OB Montessori. Aiza teased IC that she knew even then that he was gay. IC shot back, “What’s with child stars like us? Why did we turn out this way? Hahaha…” Gina butted in, laughing: “Excuse me! I was also a child star but I’m normal!”

Kidding aside, Aiza is ready, willing but (yet) unable to bear a child. “Pagbibigyan ko si Mommy to make up for all the headaches I gave her,” she said. “Pero please, once is enough kasi masakit!” Even Chen, her girlfriend of two years, is all for it.

As for Gina, she gave birth not just once, but thrice. She says that life with her three gorgeous sons is like having three husbands minus the commitment.” I was quite surprised at how conservative Geoff is. He told me that, when he gets married, he’ll make sure it will be for keeps. He doesn’t want daw his wife to experience what I went through in my marriage. ”

Geoff really seems like a one-woman man. He admits that he’s dating Nikki Gil but “I don’t know if she entertains other guys. I don’t make her bawal naman. Basta ako, exclusive siya lang.” The brilliant mother-son team moved us all to tears with their impromptu “dying scene.”

Walang problema kay Aiza Seguerra na magsilang ng sanggol.

Ayon kay Aiza - kinukulit daw kasi siya ng kanyang nanay na magbigay siya ng apo dahil nag-iisa nga lang siyang anak.

Maging ang ka-relasyon ngayon ni Aiza na si Chen ay tanggap din na magbuntis si Aiza at magkaroon ng anak, ngunit sinabi ng singer na kailangan daw ay isa lamang dahil hindi na raw niya kakayanin pa kung dalawa ang kanyang magiging anak.

Pagbibigyan lamang daw niya ang kanyang nanay sa gusto nitong mangyari sa kanya.

MATAGAL nang pangarap ni Mommy Caring Seguerra (mother dear ni Aiza Seguerra) na magkaroon ng apo sa nag-iisang anak. Kaya nang magkita sina Mommy Caring at Dolly Ann Carvajal (mother dear ni IC Mendoza), nagbiro ito na si IC ang gusto niyang makabuntis kay Aiza.

Kung si Aiza naman ang tatanungin, payag daw siyang magka-baby. Ang problema lang, ’di niya alam kung sino ang pipiliing “donor.”

“Pagbibigyan ko si mommy para makabawi naman ako sa mga ibinigay kong problema sa kanya. Pero kung sakali, minsan lang, kasi masakit,” ani Aiza.

Payag din naman sa ganoong idea ang girlfriend ni Aiza na si Chen. Natural, silang dalawa ang magpapalaki sa magiging baby ng unica hija ni Mommy Caring.

Hindi na namin naitanong kay Aiza kung payag siyang si IC ang maging “tatay” ng anak niya.

If ever, pumayag naman kaya si IC, knowing na diring-diri siya sa “kapuwa” niya babae?

Mula kasi nang magladlad ang dating child actor, wala na itong bukambibig kundi gustong makatikim ng isang guwapo at machong guy.

Virgin pa raw siya hanggang ngayon.

Siyanga pala, very touching ang naging paglabas ni Aiza sa Eat Bulaga kamakailan. ’Di lang sila ni Vic Sotto ang nagkaiyakan, kundi pati ang audience na nasa studio’y nagpapahid ng kanilang mga luha.

Nakiiyak din ang buong EB staff, crew at hosts, lalo na nu’ng sahibin ni Aiza na ang loyalty niya’y mananatili sa naturang noontime show.

May nagbiro kay Aiza na sakaling gusto nitong magkaanak ay bagay sila ni IC Mendoza. Pero hindi pabor dito ang dalagita ni Dolly Ann Carvajal dahil feeling niya ay pareho silang babae ni Aiza.

As Aiza Seguerra, Geneva Cruz, Jay-R and True Faith prepares to hold forth with their Rhythm and Blues songs at the Music Museum next Friday, the phenomenal MYMP with Juris and Chin starts its sentimental journey in the South too, starting with Iloilo next Friday.

As music lovers, a sentimental season seems to be ahead of us.

Rhythm and Blues at Music Museum on Oct. 13, 8:00 p.m. brings together four "sentimental" artist in one concert with Gus Aldeguer’s direction.

Both Aiza Seguerra and Geneva Cruz were child prodigies – Aiza at Eat Bulaga and Geneva with Ryan Cayabyab’s Smokey Mountain.

Upon maturity, Aiza made her mark as top acoustic singer, best known for her monster hit Pagdating ng Panahon. She will do a number with True Faith here.

True Faith since 1992 and has 10 best-selling albums. With its blend of jazz, folk and pop, has become the country’s ace band. Their most recent success is the theme song of popular TV series of ABS-CBN, Sa Piling Mo.

Geneva comes from the famous Cruz music clan and is at home with ballads and danceable numbers. In the concert, she’ll do Sway with 30 sexy back-up dancers plus a medley of her hits, from Pangarap Ka to Anak ng Pasig.

Jay-R burst into the local scene almost surreptitiously, with Universal Records’ help. In no time, he emerges as R&B Prince. His repertoire includes such songs as Bakit Pa, Just The Way You Are and a frenetic medley with Geneva for the finale.

While watching the event unfold last Sunday in the comfort of our bedroom, we took note of one of the highlights of the night. Yes, we mean the production number featuring Pow Chavez and Aiza Seguerra, Pards!

We knew for a fact that that stroke of genius on the part of ABC 5 would bring the house down (kudos to Perci Intalan!). Our friend Jojo Gabinete who was right smack where the action was taking place affirmed this, telling us later on that Araneta went crazy when Aiza appeared!

Anyway, we remember laughing heartily watching them perform taking in the novelty shamelessly. And while we were at it, we just couldn’t decide how to feel or how to react on it. Sure, everyone is reminded of Aiza whenever Pow is around, and so to see them together (even after a preempting error flashing Aiza’s name before she even sauntered the stage) brings forth an indecisive feeling of, "is this right? Did Aiza make the right decision to guest?" So we continued watching.

After a while, when the novelty had died down, the real talent stood out. Aiza Seguerra emerged a winner once again, reclaiming the throne that was rightfully hers.

It was a good decision after all, because Aiza was able to prove to one and all that this apparent heir (although absolutely good and definitely a recording artist material!) still has a lot to learn to achieve a status she enjoyed for years. It was Pow’s emergence that prompted a lot to say that Aiza’s career has met its demise saying the former is fresher, better singer. But Araneta Coliseum proved them wrong after all.

Aiza’s voice is still very much crystal clear. She still commands the crowd by the show of her heart in each song and yes, Pow is still way below her league.

Kung Hei Fat Choi everybody!

I had a gig to celebrate both the Lunar New year and Valentine's weekend last Friday, February 16, at The Venue along Timog Avenue—with the incomparable Aiza Seguerra! It was great fun watching couples of all ages enjoying the occasion with us. 

I've had the good fortune of having worked with very good musicians throughout my career, and without a doubt, Aiza is one of the most underrated guitarists on the scene!  Her voice has a beautiful lilt most Filipinos who grew up on daytime TV already recognize, but it's her guitar playing that wows me to this day.  Always the perfectionist with her stage and monitor sound, she is no less focused on her six-string duties.  Flourishes, intricate fingerpicking, even slaps on her guitar's body to mimic percussions, hint at a wealth of guitar knowledge which she seemingly adds to daily. 

And thanks to the prevalence of live music again (hallelujah!), it's a skill that isn't lost on her very appreciative audiences. 

Check her out when you can!  She's playing the Conspiracy Bar along Visayas Avenue with Cooky Chua and Bayang Barrios on February 20, and Teatrino at The Promenade, Greenhills, on February 24.
