Of course, no doubt na personality wise, napakaganda niya. "For me that’s a major turn on sa akin, ‘yung faith mo kay Lord," sabi ni Gab. "Ako kasi, I love going out. Mahilig ako sa mga parties. Kasi I grew up in La Salle. Siya naman, she loves staying home. Siguro kung may reason para maghiwalay is because of our school. She’s now in Ateneo taking up English Literature. "Our relationship is not base in girlfriend-boyfriend thing. Friends kami. Lucia Mall at Glorietta 2. http://www.abante.com.ph/issue/march0506/main.htm

Baking with Nikki Gil By Diana UyThere’s more to Nikki Gil than meets the eye. For one thing, the young lady who shot to fame via a soda commercial, is now one of the sought-after young personalities in showbiz. Aside from being a regular MYX veejay, and host of ASAP, she is also a popular choice when it comes to commercials—whether she’s pitching a new Globe promo, a shampoo, or teen apparel. In between her busy schedule, she still finds time to insert her acads at Ateneo where she is taking up English literature. She knows what she wants to do, goes for it, and makes sure her message is sent right across. And her message is clear—youth advocacy and empowerment, which is evident in most of her projects that are usually youth-oriented. “I’m not here to make pa-cute, pa-cute…” Gil says, unapologetic. “I am here because God wants me to do something. He has given me a gift so I guess my mission is to reach out to this market of young people with what He has given me.” Besides singing and modeling, there’s also one other skill that the budding star is good at: baking! According to Gil, baking has always been a hobby for her, “I bake whenever I feel like I’m not being productive during the day.” She also admits to having a penchant for watching cooking shows especially on the Lifestyle Network to pick up baking tips and recipes. But why not cooking? Gil says when she was younger and was first trying her hand at cooking fish, she was burnt by the cooking oil that was spit out while frying. This turned her off from cooking and steered her in the direction of baking—with a modicum of success, she admits gracefully. Among her accomplishments is a sinful chocolate cake with mocha icing that she baked for her parents’ anniversary. But Gil admits it’s cookies—oatmeal cookies to be exact—that remain her specialty. (For this interview, she baked a batch of cookies that were to die for.) Much like singing, she sees baking as a form of therapy. It takes her mind off her problems and it has its own rewards. Meaning, the appreciation is instantaneous—that is if they do like her cookies. As a young “baker,” Gil cooks by the book since she’s not the type to rely on gut feeling when mixing all the ingredients. In fact, every time she bakes, she always has to have her recipe book and her measuring spoons, which she says are the most essential things among her baking tools. For example, though she has been making her favorite Mrs. Field’s recipe of oatmeal cookies since forever, she still confesses to keeping the recipe beside her. Apart from the measuring spoons, she also considers vanilla extract as the one thing that will never leave her kitchen. “It’s the smell and the flavor,” she exclaims, “I love vanilla.” But the chart topper of all, the must-have of all must-haves in Nikki’s kitchen, is actually an assistant, whom she says would definitely complete her dream kitchen. “It’s because I want things out of my sight immediately after I use them so that I can move on to the next,” she emphasizes, “I usually work with someone so that the work won’t pile up on me.” Anyone care to apply? http://www.manilastandardtoday.com/?page=g...fe01_mar08_2006

Why Nikki sings a happy tuneBy Jerry Donato The Philippine Star 03/11/2006 Nikki Gil is glowing. This is because she is fulfilling a life-long dream of making it in the mainstream entertainment. The lady with a bagful of Coke bottles humming a tune of camaraderie and unity is literally and figuratively everywhere. Monica Pauline Gil in real life, Nikki is a mainstay of ABS-CBN’s ASAP 06. She is one of the (lady-)VJs of Myx along with Heart Evangelista, Karel Marquez, Iya Villania, Luis Manzano and Geoff Eigenmann. Nikki presents requested and chart-topping songs and videos in the show. She also goes down memory lane with the televiewers in Versions, and interviews disc jockeys. When not hosting on the small screen, Nikki also does commercial modeling and records songs. Before she entered showbiz, Nikki and co-VJ Karel appeared on this paper as STAR Dream Girl. At that time, she had print ads and did TV commercials for beauty products and organizations like Habitat for Humanity. As if returning to where the public learned to love her, Nikki hits the TV Ad block again, where she sings the jingle, Glowing Inside, for the latest Vaseline commercial. Composed by Louie Ocampo and written by Edith Gallardo, the song is heartfelt, says Nikki. It fetes and appreciates the unconditional love and efforts of mothers in bringing up their children. It recalls the many sacrifices of a mom who has been involved in every phase of her kids’ life. The noble profession is captured on the Vaseline commercial which aims to show Filipinos’ endearing traits like close-knit family ties. Company executives say the commercial got positive response from televiewers, especially women the first week it was aired. The TVC celebrates motherhood and is in time for March as the month for women and graduation. Nikki, a valedictorian of Shekinah Christian Training Center and a student of the Ateneo de Manila University, dedicates Glowing Inside to her mom Julie. It reminds Nikki of her first day in school, her school bus and activities like Vegetable Day and prom, and how her mom made things easier for her. Mommy Julie is always there in all of her "firsts." Nikki treats her mom like a sister, someone who is fair in giving attention. Apart from her dad and herself, Nikki says she owes her success to her mom. No, she has never felt pressured in achieving her dreams. Her mom, Nikki explains, gives her options, guides her and allows her to make mistakes and correct them. Nikki’s mom is an inspiration to her and has a say in most – if not all – aspects of her life including love. Asked what’s the real score between her and rumored boyfriend Gabriel "Gab" Valenciano, Nikki pauses and says they are just close friends and have known each other long before she entered showbiz. Their relationship goes beyond showbiz. They go to the same church. Their families know each other. It’s out in the open that they go out. Nikki finds Gab gentleman. He comes from a good and old-fashioned family. So he respects and treats women well. Aside from her regular shows, Nikki will be seen on another TV project ABS-CBN is cooking up for her. Whether the glow comes from a fulfilled, blossoming career or a happy personal life, Nikki can’t help but glow inside – and out. http://www.philstar.com/philstar/NEWS200603111705.htm

WATSUP Joey Sarmiento Taliba*snipped** * * TEKA teka ulit. Masarap kasi kausap si Gab dahil madaldal at mukhang walang tinatago kaya ask ulit namin kung paano ba niya pinormahan si Nikki? "Well, I went to their house a lot of times and I talk to her parents. "Sa akin din may mga nagsasabing hot ang girlfriend ko pero I always take that as a compliment kasi, at the end of the day, eh, ako pa rin ang kanyang boyfriend, 'di ba? "I don't like gulo kaya hindi ko na 'yon pinalalaki and we always pray together with her parents kaya bine-bless naman kami nang nasa Itaas," say pa niya. Ang sweet naman!http://www.journal.com.ph/news.asp?pid=3&s...ay=13&year=2006
