Re: Zsa Zsa Padilla (OT)

For the young and young at heart
    By Leah C. Salterio
    The Philippine Star 02/27/2006

Viewers see Gary Valenciano and Zsa Zsa Padilla regularly on ABS-CBN’s Sunday noontime show, ASAP ’06, where they dish out different songs in their perfect blending of voices. The same impressive blending was taken at length in the recent concert Faces of Love 2 at NBC Tent at The Fort.

It was indeed a delight watching the two seasoned performers with such remarkable musical chemistry onstage. Their duets seemed effortless. Their spiels came out so naturally, even when they’re simply talking about their respective partners, their children or their songs.

Faces of Love 2 was actually a "sequel" to last year’s Gary-Zsa Zsa’s Valentine show of the same title. This time, the concert was not on Valentine’s Day itself, but on Valentine’s weekend. Not surprisingly, the NBC Tent had a full-house crowd, despite the slew of shows for the season, with both foreign and local artists.

Individually, Gary and Zsa Zsa have done countless concerts to date. Together, they’ve shared the stage in over 50 shows. Hence, their chemistry onstage was undeniable. They do not only harmonize beautifully with their vocal prowess, they also complement each other when they perform.

The show opened with Barry Manilow’s saccharine ballad, Ready To Take a Chance Again, rendered as a beautiful duet. From then, we knew we were in for a really sentimental night, as Gary had assured they loaded their repertoire with mostly love songs for the audience who are either falling in love, being in love, falling out of love and falling back in love.

Then came the stream of medleys – Baby It’s Cold Outside, They Can’t Take That Away from You, Cheek to Cheek and Love Was Made for You and Me. This was followed by Tears on My Pillow, Earth Angel, In the Still of the Night, Put Your Head on My Shoulders; and romantic OPM ballads – Sana ay Ikaw na Nga, Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw, Di Na Natuto and Ikaw Lamang.

But what Gary V show would take off without his dance hits? He sashayed onstage in his inimitable moves as he sang Di Bale na Lang, Eto na Naman and Shout for Joy – all too familiar tunes with the audience, but nonetheless still a welcome sound for all his loyal fans.

Naturally, Zsa Zsa also did her share of singing her signature ditties like Kahit Na and Hiram, proving she is every inch the diva that she is. She did a soap opera medley with Mula sa Puso, Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay and Hanggang sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan.

Highlight of the concert was when Gary’s eldest son, Paolo, and Zsa Zsa’s eldest daughter, Karylle, joined their parents onstage for an entertaining OPM band medley – Kung Wala Ka, Jopay, Just a Smile, Bulong and Posible. The younger ones proved they are indeed chips off the old block by displaying their inherent musical genes.

Although their names will inevitably be hitched with their famous parents, Paolo and Karylle have managed to carve their own niche in local showbiz. Paolo sings with his own band, Salamin, and has a couple of theater productions to his credit. Karylle, meanwhile, has gained her own following as a singer and actress.

Paolo and Karylle catered to the younger crowd into the show. In fact, when Paolo emerged onstage, he had more screaming fans than his dad – something that Gary obviously did not mind.

We particularly enjoyed, too, the ’80s dance medley of Every Breath You Take, Sweet Dreams, Always Something There To Remind Me, Mickey, Take On Me, 99 Red Balloons, Footloose and Head Over Heels. Given the rather formal atmosphere of the venue, the audience was visibly restrained from dancing. But it would have been a blast to dance to those dance hits of the ’80s, at the time when Gary and Zsa Zsa’s respective careers started to soar in the local music scene.

Expectedly, they did the duet they recorded, Could We, minus the Tagalog version which is really hauntingly sentimental, too.

For the finale, Gary and Zsa Zsa gave the audience a love songs medley that really tugs the heart – I’ll Never Say Goodbye, Just Once, I Know I’ll Never Love This Way Again, If Ever You’re in My Arms Again, Get Here and Weekend in New England.

Faces of Love 2 clearly managed to inspire perhaps even the most jaded romantic in the audience with the line-up of songs in the repertoire that appealed to the young and old alike. It was a show that can be restaged over and over again, given a new set of romantic tunes to render. As Gary promised, there’ll be Faces of Love 3, 4 and 5. That’s definitely something to look forward to.

It's Cold Outside, They Can't Take That Away from You, Cheek to Cheek ingon man Love Was Made for You and Me." Pakapinan usab unya kini niya sa lain pang mga awit sama sa Tears on My Pillow, Earth Angel, In the Still of the Night, Put Your Head on My Shoulders ingon man ang mga romantic Original Pilipino Music ballads nga siguradong mogitik sa pagbati sa mga romantikanhon sama sa Sana ay Ikaw na Nga, Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw, Di Na Natuto ug Ikaw Lamang.

    Re: Zsa Zsa Padilla (OT)

    At her prime

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    ZSA ZSA Padilla feels great.

Fresh off her best actress win at the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Awards, she looks and feels exhilarated. She is one of the strongest contenders for best actress this coming awards-giving season and she might just have a grand slam win. She is one of the most sought-after performers with several singing engagements here and abroad in addition to her regular Sunday appearance in the ABS-CBN musical program "ASAP." She is poised to return to drama acting on the small screen when "Bituing Walang Ningning" debuts on ABS-CBN. On its twentieth year, her relationship with partner Dolphy remains intrigue-proof. And to top it all, she doesn’t look a day older than thirty. In fact, she and daughter Karylle, who is 25, can be mistaken for sisters.

All these good vibes build up to her divine aura. At 41 (she is turning 42 on May 28) she could give stars half her age a run for their money in the looks department. Although she has battled several health problems, her scoliosis most notably, she has bounced back from these – and how!

Now Zsa Zsa makes a grand appearance in a traffic-stopping billboard along EDSA and SLEX. Wearing a white maillot, the young and sexy mom of three girls can put even 20-year olds to shame.

Zsa Zsa joins the Hollywood trend of being hot at any age. Thanks to healthy eating habits, regular exercise and of course a little help from Dr. Vicki Belo. From Mesotherapy to eliminate stubborn fat, Zsa Zsa flaunts an ageless physique unmarred by time.

She truly has the best of both worlds: a body of a 20-year old and, the charm, wisdom and confidence of a woman in her prime.

    Re: Zsa Zsa Padilla (OT)

"Sabi niya, kung sa tingin mo, ikagaganda mo, go on.

Belo sa kanyang clinic ay no less than, Ms. Vilma Santos.

    Zsa Zsa Padilla takot tumanda?
    TATTLE
    by : Nel Alejandrino

IS Zsa Zsa Padilla afraid of growing old? “Not at all,” mariin niyang sagot. “I even welcome it.”

Zsa Zsa is turning 42 on May 28. But she still looks hip and sexy.

Thanks to Dra. Vicki Belo, Belo Medical Group head, who taught Zsa Zsa how to pamper herself and preserve her youthful look and sexy body.

Daughter Karylle’s waistline, on the other hand, is 24 inches.

It is common knowledge that Zsa Zsa earlier submitted herself to Mesotherapy, which helped eliminate stubborn fat na ’di mawala-wala kahit na anong exercise ang gawin.

This is also the reason why her new billboard on EDSA can put to shame even a 20-year-old lass.

Would Karylle look just as great as her mom in bathing suit?

Zsa Zsa is likewise due to undergo Flaxel and Thermage any day now to lighten her skin in the abdominal area and stretch marks.

She is glad at naiintindihan ni Dolphy, her partner for almost 20 years, ang ardent wish niya to still look beautiful. Alam daw ni Dolphy na kailangan niya ito sa trabaho, and of course, for her own satisfaction na rin.

If you noticed nga naman, Zsa Zsa has remained to be one of the most in demand performers sa industriya. She hosts ASAP, ABS-CBN’s musical show, every Sunday. She is also a sought after concert performer here and abroad.

Nakatakda siyang mag-concert with Gary Valenciano sa Bohol on May 9, and in Cebu on May 10.

She’s currently cast as Sarah Geronimo’s mom in the new teleserye, Bituing Walang Ningning, also on Channel 2.

Zsa Zsa had just received her second best actress trophy from the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation Awards for her performance in Ako Legal Wife.

    * * *

Zsa Zsa said the GMMSF Awards will always be dear to her. It was from the same award-giving body na natanggap niya ang first award as Most Promising Singer twenty years ago.

“I was reminded of this,” ani Zsa Zsa, “dahil sa speech ni Aga (Muhlach, Film Actor of the Year awardee together with John Lloyd Cruz for the movie Dubai), he said na pangatlong beses na niyang dumalo sa affair ng nabanggit na award-giving body. (Twice kasing napanalunan ni Aga ang Box-Office Actor trophy for Pangako sa ‘Yo and Kailangan Kita). Second time ko namang maging awardee.”

Palagay ba ni Zsa Zsa makaka-grand slam siya for Ako Legal Wife?

“Sana,” she replied. “Kaso, anim na award-giving bodies pa ang huhusga kung deserving akong maging grand slam best actress.”

Ang mga award-giving body na sinasabi ni Zsa Zsa ay ang Star Awards, Enpress, URIAN, FAMAS, Luna Awards (formerly FAP) and the Young Critic’s Circle.

Dollywood : Hot and happening at 42

First posted 10:22pm (Mla time) May 03, 2006

Editor's Note: Published on Page A2-4 of the May 4, 2006 issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer

ZSA Zsa Padilla (who turns 42 this month), joins the Hollywood trend of being hot and happening, as 40 indeed becomes the new 30. Doesn’t she kinda remind you of Uma Thurman?

For Zsa Zsa, it all boils down to healthy eating habits, regular exercise and of course Dr. Vicki Belo’s “Midas touch.” Thanks to mesotherapy to eliminate stubborn fat she could not exercise away, and Fraxel and Thermage to tighten her abdominal skin and improve stretch marks, Zsa Zsa flaunts a physique unmarred by age.

Just like her, I will be 42 soon. But why look my age if I refuse to even act my age (hehehe)? Con mucho Belo, I somehow maintain my “market value.” Dr. Vicki has truly given a whole new meaning to the saying “Life begins at 40” and how! Without feeling 40, Zsa and I enjoyed some girl talk.

Has your youthful body enhanced intimate moments with Tito Dolphy?
Yes would be an understatement! I sleep with a binder on but no undies. He knows the cue (giggles). I have also become more comfy with myself. I hope women who are pushing 40 out there will snap out of the mindset na pag 40 ka na it’s mid-life crisis time.

What was his reaction to your sizzling billboard on Edsa?

He’s used to me changing my look every so often. Walang bawal. He’s so cool. Once I came home with a different hair color, he just said, “Akala ko may foreigner tayong guest!”

Don’t you think you’re sexier than your daughter Karylle?

Karylle has her own charm. All women go through certain phases in their lives before they can exude a certain mystique. Wait till Karylle reaches her prime!

What’s the secret of your staying power?

Not all singers are given a chance to act. I’m lucky I was able to cross over. I was sort of prepared for acting. But I will always go back to singing.

Will your new body fit into a bridal gown?

    Abangan!

"At prior to that po, nag-usap na sina Dra. Belo at Ara at naintindihan ni Ara, so saan po nanggaling ‘yung isyung masama ang loob niya? Lahat po sila effective endorsers ng Belo Medical Clinic kaya nga sila inaalagaan at saka ibang procedures pong gagawin kay Ara for another billboard pictorial," esplika ni Vangie.

Ang pagkakaalam din namin after ni Zsazsa ay ang magandang billboard naman ni Claudine Barretto-Santiago ang ipapalit sa Edsa at SLEX.

    Re: Zsa Zsa Padilla (OT)

Zsa Zsa Padilla: Hip and sexy at 42!

Yes, award-winning singer-actress Zsa Zsa Padilla is 42 (actually she turns 42 on May 28 yet) and still she’s hip and sexy! Her billboard, showing her in a white bathing suit, and displayed strategically along EDSA and SLEX, proves that her image can put even a 20-year old to shame!

In fact, when younger people (like some she worked with recently) hear her say she’s past 40, their eyes express disbelief. And why not? Zsa Zsa has that perfect figure, flawless complexion and beautiful and exotic face to die for, and never mind if some of her physical attributes were due to doctors’ skill.

"I’ve never lied about my age," and about the beauty enhancements she’s went through under Dr. Vicki Belo’s medical group (from Mesotherapy to eliminate stubborn fat she could not exercise away to Fraxel and Thermage to tighen her abdominal skin and improve stretch marks), the 2005 Metro Manila Film Festival Best Actress awardee said.

And it has helped Zsa Zsa a lot to achieve her goddess–like image that her beloved partner (Dolphy, who else?) has been very supportive of her in everything. Unlike most men, Dolphy doesn’t mind his lady love going through anything that would make her sexier. "Yong sa tummy ko nu’n, he was the one who urged me to do it. Any changes I do in my body, okay lang sa kanya. One time I came home with my hair dyed blonde (my role called for it in a movie I was doing) and he just said ‘akala ko kung sinong Americana,’ yon lang, wala na siyang ibang reaction."

Zsa Zsa goes to Belo’s two to three times and works out regularly too while watching her diet. She believes that one has to complement exercise with a healthy eating habit to achieve one’s physical goal.

Does she expect to be a Best Actress grand slam winner for her funny role as the insecure Chinese wife in "Ako Legal Wife: Mano Po 4?" "Sana," she said wistfully. She has won two so far, from the MMFFP and the recent Guillermo Mendoza Scholarship Foundation’s Box-Office Entertainment Awards.

Basically a singer, Zsa Zsa never believe she could be an actress, much less an effective and impressive one. She recalled that it was Vic del Rosario, top honcho of VIVA Entertainment, who first told her she could be a very good actress. "I didn’t believe him of course but he insisted singers could easily turn into good actresses, take the case of Sharon Cuneta."

By the way, Zsa Zsa is in the major cast of ABS–CBN’s soon-to-be-aired soap opera "Bituing Walang Ningning" who had Sharon Cuneta in the lead role. "When the role in the TV series was offered to me, I didn’t have second thoughts. It was a dream role, a very challenging one and of course I wouldn’t say no to such an offer," Zsa Zsa said. The role is that of a singer who came from nothing but made it big but loses it all in the end.

"Bituing Walang Ningning" is based on the novel by Nerissa Cabral who, during the grand media launch of the soap last Tuesday night at the Music Musem, said she felt apprehension at first at the soap project, considering the huge success of the movie. But when she saw the trailer of the soap and the performance of the cast, her hope was greatly enhanced and she now believes the soap will approximate or equal the performance of the movie.

Playing the role of Dorina Pineda (Sharon’s in the now classic movie made in l985) is another Vic del Rosario protege, Sarah Geronimo. On the other hand, Angelika dela Cruz plays the kontrabida Lavinia Arguelles, the role portrayed by Cherie Gil in "Bituing Walang Ningning" the movie, and the one who gets to say the now classic line "you’re nothing but a second-rate trying hard copy-cat."

Going back to Zsa Zsa Padilla: She revealed Dolphy uses only boxer shorts (without briefs and with a white T-shirt so old it has holes in it) while she uses pajama without underwear when they sleep. And sometimes she snores, she also confessed. But her snoring usually wakes her up.

They don’t fight, she said. "It’s hard to argue with Dolphy," so it’s better she avoids any altercation with him.

About their projected wedding, Zsa Zsa said it will come when it's time. Her parents are still together and they’re close to celebrating their golden anniversary. Her father, the renowned boxing referee Sonny Padilla is now 72 years old. Zsa Zsa’s family reside in Las Vegas. She’s the one based in the Philippines.

    Re: Zsa Zsa Padilla (OT)

Body Talk with Zsa Zsa Padilla
    FUNFARE By Ricardo F. Lo
    The Philippine Star 05/05/2006

Anytime now, the larger-than-life billboards showing Zsa Zsa Padilla "Hip & Sexy at 42" as endorser/image-model of The Belo Medical Group will occupy the spots (one along EDSA) where billboards of another Belo endorser/image-model, Ara Mina, used to be. Like that of Ara, the Zsa Zsa billboard is another feast for the eye (an energizer for traffic-weary commuters and motorists).

"No," said Zsa Zsa in this body talk, "I’m not shy about my age. Yes, I’m turning 42 on May 28 and I’m proud of it. I don’t look 42, do I?"

At 42, Zsa Zsa has survived a broken marriage (to dentist Modesto Tatlonghari, father of her 24-year-old actress/singer-daughter Karylle), the downs in her career, a surgery on her back (scoliosis) and her beloved Dolphy’s quadruple bypass, a personal crisis two years ago that took quite toll on her health and threats from showbiz upstarts.

So what "surprise" gift does Zsa Zsa expect on her birthday?

Maybe a wedding "proposal" from Dolphy (Zsa Zsa’s marriage to Tatlonghari was annulled more than three years ago)?

"That will come in due time," she smiled, refusing to name an exact date. "Baka maudlot na naman," she added.

Or, perhaps, a Best Actress grand slam in this awards season for her head-turning performance in Regal Films’ Ako Legal Wife (which has already won for her a Best Actress trophy at last December’s Metro Filmfest)?

"I’m keeping my fingers crossed," said Zsa Zsa who is poised for another attention-getting performance in the new ABS-CBN soap Bituing Walang Ningning as the mother of Sarah Geronimo. In the movie that inspired the teleserye, Sarah’s character was played by Sharon Cuneta.

As a Belo endorser/image-model, Zsa Zsa underwent a Mesotherapy treatment to eliminate stubborn fat, Flaxel treatment and Thermage.

"The result," said Dr. Vicki Belo (who was with Zsa Zsa during this body talk), "is magical." (Check out the billboards and see for yourselves.)

What kind of diet do you follow?

"High protein. All the carbs that I eat are complex carbs. And mostly vegetables. My favorite is broccoli."

Are you still fond of corned beef?

"Not anymore. Now, I can’t eat anything cured with salitre. Nagka-allergy ako, eh."

    How do you burn calories?

"I work out once or twice a week."

Being scoliotic, you don’t do rigorous workouts, do you?

"I have to be careful. That’s why I have a trainer."

    What about sports?

"I swim. I also do kayaking."

What kind of food do you avoid?

"I’d love to eat chocolates but fortunately, I’m allergic to chocolates. And to chicken, too."

    Favorite food?

"When I’m really, really hungry and I’m lucky enough – steak! I had one the other night, just a small piece. I brought home one piece for Dolphy because he wasn’t feeling well. Also, I should avoid rice but I can’t help taking it. Matakaw ako sa kanin, eh."

How much liquid do you take every day?

"A lot! When I’m working out, I drink several glasses of water. I seldom take soda. I’m also careful about my sodium intake."

Are you taking any medication for your scoliosis?

"No, I’m not. But I’m taking one for my cholesterol – Lipitor. Genetically, my good cholesterol level is lower than my bad cholesterol."

    What about vitamins and minerals?

"Not much vitamins. What I’m taking is CoQ 10 (100 mg.), an anti-oxidant I buy from GNC. It makes you younger daw. Since I started taking it in December last year, I never had cough or colds. I also take alpha lipoic acid, which lowers daw your blood sugar."

How much sleep do you get per night?

"Six to eight hours. I’ve never been a big sleeper. If I sleep in the afternoon, I don’t sleep soundly at night."

    What about Dolphy?

"Oh, he’s a light sleeper. But he can really sleep, huh! He likes to watch TV."

    Doesn’t it bother you?

"It does, so when he sleeps I turn it off and turns it on as soon as he wakes up."

What’s the last thing that you (and Dolphy) do before sleeping?

"We pray. And then I put cream on my face."

First thing that you do when you wake up?

    "Check the clock."

    [b]What’s your favorite sleep wear?

    "Pajamas without underwear."

    And Dolphy’s?

"Boxer shorts, also without underwear, and a white T-shirt na butas-butas."

What if you want some, you know, private moments?

"I would know. He’s a little antsy, di mapakali. Pakala-kalabit ‘yan. Then I would tease him, ‘May gusto ka, ano?’ Do we schedule ‘it?’ Not really. It just happens."

    Who snores, he or you?

"I do. It’s weird because I wake up everytime I snore. We both have asthma. Sometimes, I would hear a whizzing sound. I would look at him and it’s not him, it’s me!"

How do you cope with stress?

"I work out. I hit the treadmill when I’m stressed out. Before, I let it out on my PlayStation."

What’s your favorite hideaway, favorite city?

"Las Vegas, where my parents and siblings are. My dad, Carlos Padilla Jr., is 72 but he’s fit and healthy because he exercises regularly."

    How’s your love life?

    "Okay naman!"

    And your ###### life?

    "All right. Okay na okay."

Dolphy said that you are his Viagra?

"Joke lang ‘yon! He doesn’t need one."

    Do you ever fight?

"I refrain from arguing with him. At his age, it doesn’t seem okay for me to be fighting with him."

    What makes you angry?

"When I’m into my ‘mom role.’ There was an instance when I was in Hong Kong with my daughters. From the airport, our four pieces of luggage fitted into the trunk of the Benz that fetched us. But during our departure, di na nagkasya. I was tense. Pinagmumura ko talaga sila, using all the Chinese words I knew."

How often do you see your doctor.

"Very often. You know why, I’m praning about my health. I’m a hypochondriac. Konting aches and pains, doctor kaagad! If you check my phonebook, most of the names are those of doctors."

How often do you go to Dr. Vicki’s clinic?

"Ay, often! When I have time, two to three times a week."

    What treatment are you undergoing?

"Thermage for the body. It’s a new treatment."

Is every part of your body original?

"Well, I won’t deny that a little part of it is not."

What part of your body is your favorite?

"Before, my waistline. Now? I don’t know."

What part of your body do you think is Dolphy’s favorite?

"My rib cage, which is unusual, ‘no? It’s also my children’s favorite. They love to touch my rib cage."

What part of a man’s body do you notice first?

    "The shoulders."

What part of your body do you think needs some improvement?

"Ask Vicki Belo." (Said Vicki, "That’s what we’re working on right now. I won’t tell you just yet which parts, but the results will be amazing.")

And how often do you see your dentist?

"Not often. The last time I did was last week."

Are you vain like most beautiful women?

    "I guess I am – I should be – because I’m an artist."

How long does it take you to fix yourself?

"Fast! If I have to go out of the house, I shampoo my hair, brush it, dress up and leave. I go to Dr. Vicki’s clinic without makeup. I don’t stay in the shower for a long time or linger in the bathtub." ("It’s bad," said Dr. Vicki, "especially if you soak yourself up in warm water.")

Do you and Dolphy have "His" and "Hers" in your bathroom – you know, kanya-kanya?

"No. But I have a boudoir. Ninety-percent of the toiletries are mine, only 10 percent his. I am more organized than he is. I used to be super-organized, my room was no neat. But since I started living with him, I have my own little corner of kalat. And he has his own. Dolphy is a dapper dresser; he’s so put-together."

Name three men you think have nice bodies.

"Brad Pitt. David Beckham. Ryan Reynolds."

    And three women...

"Jennifer Gardner. Jessica Alba. Lena Olin."

Using only body language, how would you make a guy know that you admire him?

"I don’t look at other guys; I look only at Dolphy." (Then she laughed.)
