Baka trilogy 'to. Haven't read the book yet BTW.

Feeling ko magko-co-produce Star Cinema or Skylight dito. Puro Kapamilya mga kasama eh.

And I wonder bakit Andoy Ranay uli ang director.

Like Antoinette Jadaone or Ted Boborol. Pwede naman sil mag-hire na hindi exclusive sa Viva.

Sana nga mag-co sila with Star Cinema or kahit Skylight man lang just like TBYD.

Over the past year, eto ang mga na-i-direk niya..

When The Love is Gone
Diary ng Panget
Trophy Wife
Talk Back and You're Dead

We're talking about 4 films in a span of 9 months. Add to that his stint in Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real. Goodness, may iba pang mga directors. Sabagay, mukhang aral si Andoy Ranay kay Wenn Deramas sa school of paglalagare.

Ang kulang nalang mag-reunion sina Andoy Ranay at Wenn Deramas for a movie project na sila magdidirehe. Whether a drama with very bad antagonists or slapstick comedies....

Julia Barretto signs deal with Star Cinema

MANILA – Julia Barretto on Wednesday signed a multi-picture contract with Star Cinema, which includes her movie debut, “Para sa Hopeless Romantic.”

Speaking to ABS-CBN News and other reporters, Barretto said it is a dream come true for her to finally join the Star Cinema family.

“I am so excited. This has been a dream of mine, to sign under Star Cinema and it’s a multi-picture contract so I’m really really excited,” she said. “My dream projects -- as an artist, I have a lot -- one of them, siguro I want to do a rom-com since I’m very young also pa. But of course drama also. I want to get to that point as well.”

Barretto also said she is fortunate to be working with Iñigo Pascual in her very first movie.

“We are almost done actually, we’ve been shooting since last month. Inigo is my partner here and we are almost done with the film… Very fun, sobrang bait ni Iñigo. Madali siyang makasama. Magaan 'yung loob ko sa kanya. For a first timer, he’s really good.” she said.

Since both their parents come from show business, Barretto said she and Pascual immediately had something in common.

“We get to talk about [the pressure of having showbiz parents] because we are under the same pressure. Maybe that’s one of the reasons why we really get along. We understand each other. By that, we know how we feel, we have each other’s backs and we are able to help each other and make each other feel confident,” she said.

Asked who she wants to work with in her future movie projects, Barretto said: “I am open to working with anybody. That’s how I’m going to grow as an actor myself. Kahit sino okay lang basta may trabaho.”

While movie projects are lined up for her, Barretto said she also hopes to make another television series soon.

“Teleserye, so far meron nang na-present na story pero up to this day, I’m really praying na matuloy siya,” she said.

Barretto’s last show with the Kapamilya network was the fantasy series “Mirabella.”

Gretch & Marjorie on the ‘warpath?’
FUNFARE By Ricky Lo (The Philippine Star) | Updated February 10, 2015 - 12:00am

This just in:

An oven-hot story reached Funfare that the Barretto sisters Gretchen and Marjorie are…on the “warpath?”

The story should come as a surprise to showbiz-watchers who know that Gretchen and Marjorie are on one side against their sister Claudine and their mom Inday in the long-prolonged family feud that has yet to see its resolution or closure, with the world standing by as if watching a teleserye with headline-hogging twists and turns.

So how come Gretchen and Marjorie are now on opposite sides?

What Funfare heard is this:

While in London with her beloved Tonyboy Cojuangco, Gretchen regularly watched Forevermore, the hit ABS-CBN teleserye starring Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano (real name: Hope Elizabeth), who is the Kapamilya network’s newest hot property, not just pretty but also talented, whose following is fast growing by the day. Gretchen has a soft spot for Enrique with whom she co-starred in Princess & I, another ABS-CBN teleserye, and who was the lead actor in Mirabella, an afternoon soap with Julia Barretto, Marjorie’s daughter/Gretchen’s niece, as co-star.

In a post on her Instagram, Gretchen congratulated Enrique for a job well done (in Forevermore), as well as the whole cast including Liza, naturally. Marjorie didn’t like it since she is said to consider Liza as Julia’s “rival,” and she told Gretchen about her displeasure.

The social-media “war” has begun.

A photo of Liza posted by Ben Chan on Instagram got the attention of Dubai-based Filipino designer Michael Cinco (who is a Waray from Catbalogan, Western Samar) and that of Gretchen who, again on her Instagram, described Liza as “awesome-looking young lady.” You can just imagine how Marjorie felt about Gretchen’s comment.

Incidentally, Michael has reportedly been commissioned by Marjorie to design three gowns (guess how much they are worth) for Julia’s debut early next month, an event surrounded by lurking controversy involving Julia’s estranged father, Dennis Padilla, who was deeply hurt when Julia agreed to have her surname (Baldivia) legally changed to Barretto.

The dilemma: Will Julia invite Dennis to her debut? If she does, it will lessen the impact of how she reportedly snubbed her father during a Christmas party last December, a disrespectful act contrary to the Filipino tradition of honoring one’s parents (or the elderly in general). But according to reports, Dennis may decline the invitation because he might just be “used” to “sanitize” Julia’s image badly tarnished by that snubbing incident.

Meanwhile, while without any new Kapamilya show, Julia will play second lead to Nadine Lustre (and James Reid) in a movie to be co-produced by Star Cinema (Julia’s home studio) and Viva Films, as Liza Soberano’s star continues to grow bigger and brighter.

Why is the new Jadine movie delayed? James explains

MANILA – The new movie of the popular love team of James Reid and Nadine Lustre “Para sa Hopeless Romantic” was supposed to have been released in theaters lat January.

It was later rescheduled to February and now Reid has confirmed that the new opening date is May 13.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Reid explained that the postponement is due to some changes in the movie. “We re-shot some scenes. We wanted to change it up a bit. We wanted to make it perfect,” he said.

“We can’t wait for the fans to see it. It’s very different from the last two movies we’ve done," he added.

Aside from Reid and Lustre, “Para sa Hopeless Romantic” also features Julia Barretto and Inigo Pascual.

Based on the official full-length trailer of the movie uploaded online by producer Star Cinema, the film follows the love story of two high school students named Rebecca (Lustre) and Nikko (Reid).

Hurt by Nikko's sudden decision to break up with her, Rebecca decides to write an online novel that tells of a similar love story. The novel tragically ends, however, after one of the characters figured in a road accident.

The fictional couple is portrayed by Barretto and Pascual.

Directed by Mel Mendoza-del Rosario and Andoy Ranay -- the creative minds behind the hit "Diary ng Panget -- the film is an adaptation of a Wattpad novel of the same name written by Marcelo Santos III.

Star Cinema ni Malou Santos sunud-sunod ang suwerte!

How lucky naman of Malou Santos to keep achieving success in every venture if not, responsibility, she gets herself into.

Bilang managing director of Star Cinema, no one can argue that she is a success. Most of the films she has produced has spelled big successes at the box office. The latest of which is the still showing Toni Gonzaga and Coco Martin starrer na You’re My Boss.

‘Di rin puwedeng ‘di asahang magiging blockbuster ang upcoming Para sa Hopeless Romantic, which Star Cinema co-produced with Viva Films.

Opening in theaters nationwide on May 13, ang Hopeless Romantic… ay directed by Andoy Ranay, and stars James Reid, Nadine Lustre at ang bagong team-up nina Julia Barretto at Iñigo Pascual.

Si Malou rin ang Business Unit head ng dalawa sa kasalukuyang trendsetter and high rating series on ABS-CBN na Forevermore at Bridges of Love.

‘Di pa man ipinapaalam ang exact date ng airing of another upcoming series ng unit ni Malou, the remake of the much-love and long-time teleserye, Pangako Sa ‘Yo, which originally starred Jericho Rosales at Kristine Hermosa, marami na ang nag-aabang sa seryeng ito.

Directed by Rory Quintos, the upcoming Pangako Sa ‘Yo stars the love tandem of the hour na sina Kathryn Bernardo at Daniel Padilla.
