Which one will direk Joyce give up?
By Nathalie Tomada (The Philippine Star) | Updated June 20, 2013 - 12:00am

MANILA, Philippines - Director Joyce Bernal was happy to learn that her two new film projects are among the eight official entries in the forthcoming 39th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), but she might have to give up one.

Direk Joyce confirmed to The STAR that she was informed last Tuesday, the day when MMDA chair Francis Tolentino announced the full line-up, that there’s an MMFF ruling that no director can have two entries. A screening committee source said that the lady director would have to choose which film she will do for this year’s MMFF, although there’s no official word from the execom yet.

The two movies, which have listed her as the director, include Robin Padilla’s 10,000 Hours with Michael de Mesa and Bela Padilla as co-stars. The action-drama under Philippine Film Studio, Inc. is inspired by events that transpired when Sen. Panfilo Lacson went into hiding and became a fugitive in 2010, direk Joyce told The STAR.

The other one is the dramedy Torky and My Little Bossing under OctoArts Films, M-Zet TV Productions, APT Entertainment, Inc. and Kris Aquino Productions.

It’s a Vic Sotto and Kris Aquino starrer, but Kris will appear intermittently in the film. The movie also serves as the launching movie of Kris’ son Bimby with new GMA 7 child sensation Ryzza Mae Dizon.

Direk Joyce said that the film tells the story of a mother and a child (Kris and Bimby) whose lives are in danger. Mother temporarily leaves young son in the care of Vic’s character for safety. Ryzza, meanwhile, will play Vic’s granddaughter. “Ang cute and ang ganda ng story,” Joyce said.

While direk Joyce sees no problem finishing the two in time for the filmfest, as she will wrap up shooting 10,000 Hours in August and begins filming Torky and My Little Bossing in September, still “if it’s the ruling, I will accept it.”

“I don’t know what to do personally,” said Joyce, but if really made to choose, she’ll have to go with 10,000 Hours because the project was offered to her first early this year and she started shooting it a few days ago.

Another MMFF entry is the third Kimmy Dora film. Joyce directed the previous ones but the MMFF entry will be directed by Chris Martinez. “It’s the prequel and I’m still part of it as one of the producers” under Spring Films.

Meanwhile, a religious biopic is another standout in this year’s MMFF roster. San Pedro Calungsod Batang Martir is a film on the second Filipino saint, Pedro Calungsod, who was canonized in Vatican last year.

When asked how the religious-historical drama will attract mainstream viewers, director Francis Villacorta said, “I hope the Filipino youth is ready for this kind of material since this is an alternative viewing for them since Pedro Calungsod is supposed to be an example of the youth and for migrant workers. For two years, I have researched for this material heavily. I have begun my own devotion for San Pedro Calungsod because of this film. It became my own quest to tell this story.”

He added, “More than a year since we announced this project with JM de Guzman (in the title role) so many happened in the life of JM but he didn’t waver in the project. Giving up on this project was not an option. If we didn’t make it to the MMFF, we have another plan.”

My Little Bossing (nina Vic Sotto, Ryzza Mae Dizon, Bimby Yap at Kris Aquino).

ABOUT SHOWBIZ Ni Nitz Miralles (Pilipino Star Ngayon) | Updated June 20, 2013 - 12:00am

Anyway, masayang ibinalita ni Kris na pumasok sa Magic 8 ng MMFF ang Torky and My Little Bossing na bida sina Vic (as Torky) at Bimby (as the little bossing). Kasama rin si Ryzza Mae Dizon at may special participation siya as the mother of Bimby.

Sa tanong kung may chance pa silang magkaayos ni James, “I’ll take my cue from Kim (Chiu).  Sabi niya, hindi dapat pinipilit, kusang mangyayari ‘yun. But sincerity comes from both sides,” pagtatapos ni Kris.

Kris is ready to be a stage mom

Published : Friday, June 21, 2013 00:00 Article Views : 47

Super excited na si Kris Aquino sa first movie ng bunsong anak na si Baby James Yap with Vic Sotto and Ryzza Mae Dizon na may working title na Torky and My Little Bossing, intended for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.

After elections daw naisara ang negosasyon.

So, the four companies are APT, M-ZET, OctoArts and KAP.

“Parang Pido Dida (dati niyang movie with Rene Requiestas) 2013,” proud niyang kuwento. So, I said, ‘okay’!”

“I asked him, nu’ng tumawag pa lang si Boss Orly, tapos pinanood ko sa kanya kung sino si Ryzza Mae, I asked Bimb, ‘Do you wanna do it?’

“Tapos sinabi niya, ‘Am I the star?’ Sabi ko, ‘of course, you’re the star!’ And then, sabi niya, ‘Okay, mama,’” masaya pang tsika ni Kris.

As we all know, basta Vic Sotto movie, si Tony Reyes ang direktor at first time ito na iba ang magdidirehe because of Kris.

“Nakiusap ako at sinabi ko na Bimb is very comfortable with her (Bb. Joyce), kilalang-kilala nila ang isa’t isa and sana, mapagbigyan kami for this. And ’yun, ang bait nila talaga and ang daling ka-deal.

“What I was told is that, Direk Tony Reyes is going to be the supervising producer, so, everybody’s happy.”

Pero say ni Kris, they can adjust naman daw up to 10 p.m. kapag Sabado.

So, hanggang saan ang pagiging stage mother niya?

SHOWBIZ NEWS NOW NA!

“Naku! Hindi ako magtatrabaho during this whole time.

Sobrang bait nila and ang daling ka-deal. I was told that Direk Tony Reyes (madalas na direktor ni Vic sa mga pelikula) is going to be the supervising producer. So, everybody’s happy,” kuwento ni Kris.

Pinapanood ng Queen of All Media si Bimby ng show ni Ryzza Mae Dizon para makilala ng anak ang batang aktres.

“She’s funny mama ’tapos tawa siya nang tawa. Sabi niya I don’t want to dance that ha? Sabi ko you don’t have to. You are a boy,” natatawang kuwento ni Kris.

Kris proud of Bimby's acting skills

ABS-CBNnews.com
Posted at 11/06/2013 11:18 AM | Updated as of 11/06/2013 11:18 AM

MANILA - Host-actress Kris Aquino proudly shared how her youngest son, James "Bimby" Yap Jr., has been doing well in his debut movie, "My Little Bossings."

In an episode of her morning show "Kris TV" aired on Wednesday, Aquino said Bimby now knows how to do "crying scenes."

I'm so proud," she said.

Aside from Bimby, "My Little Bossings" also stars Vic Sotto and Ryzza Mae Dizon.

Aquino said her son is now more mature when it comes to dealing with fans.

"And nagbago siya talaga. Pumapayag siyang yakapin ako," she said.

"Tapos ngayon naiintindihan na niya. [Sabi niya] 'It means na they love mama,'" she added.

Bimby is Aquino's son with her former husband, basketball player James Yap.

Yap's lawyer, Atty. Lorna Kapunan, earlier made a televised appeal to Aquino to abide by a court order concerning the visitation rights to Bimby.

Vice Ganda's track record doesn't threaten Kris

ABS-CBNnews.com
Posted at 11/28/2013 12:20 PM | Updated as of 11/28/2013 12:20 PM

MANILA – Kris Aquino said it is not her intention to compete with Vice Ganda in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

Aquino’s entry to the annual event is “Torky and My Little Bossing,” which also features her son, James “Bimby” Yap Jr., comedian Vic Sotto and child wonder Ryzza Mae Dizon.

Vice Ganda, on the other hand, will headline the comedy film “Boy Girl Bakla Tomboy,” along with Maricel Soriano, Gabby Concepcion and Ruffa Gutierrez.

Aquino told ABS-CBN News that like everyone else, she is well aware of Vice Ganda’s box office track record and her only wish is for the moviegoers to appreciate “Torky.”

“Siyempre ang gusto ko lang talaga is mabawi namin ang puhunan and kumita kami. Because this is for Bimb’s future and this is also parang a test for me kung kaya ko ba talaga 'yung trabaho na hindi ako 'yung in front of the camera, kung may skills ba ako behind the scenes,” she said.

The actress-host also shrugged off their supposed rivalry, saying she and Vice Ganda continue to be close friends even if they no longer star in the same movie.

“Dumalaw si Vice sa amin. He was there sa set, nagbantay siya. I have no illusions whatsoever. If Vic wants to be number one, who doesn’t want to be number one? Pero tanggap ko naman kung sino si Vice Ganda and kung ano ang box office record niya,” she said.

In a separate interview with ABS-CBN News last week, Vice Ganda played down talk of a brewing rivalry between him and Aquino.

Aside from having different entries in the upcoming MMFF, the PMPC Star Awards for TV also named Vice Ganda this year's Best Celebrity Talk Show Host over Aquino.

“Kahit sinong manalo okay lang,” he said.
