That article that said ABS-CBN has very few bankable talents in the News team are completely wrong. Most of the respected journalists in the Philippine TV industry are in ABS-CBN.

ABS-CBN News is still the most watched news team in the Philippines. It has the most viewed news site in the Philippines - Inquirer comes in at far 2nd - 400 points away from ABS-CBN according to Alexa.com. ANC is the longest running and most respected news channel in the Philippines. CNN Philippines can't even come close when it comes to businessmen attention nor ratings even if they are on free TV.

Karen Davila is a good choice in debate moderation as she is used to doing this. She was a moderator in the most recent APEC event in the Philippines. She is also known as a good interviewer and documentarist. Tony Velasquez is an untainted news anchor.

Lynda Jumilla is a highly respected journalist coming from the Inquirer. Alvin Elchico is a very notable talent, too. Tina Monzon-Palma is a very respected journalist. Gigi Grande, the head of ABS-CBN Investigative and Research group, is a well-known investigative reporter. Teddy Locsin Jr, Prof. de Vera - both are strong personalities, too.

If you are a true leader, you develop your brood. You don't step on the limelight. And Ging Reyes is a true leader. She knows she doesn't need to block and take the opportunity away from her talents. Luchi is a diva so let her be.

RG Cruz and Ina Reformina are very intelligent in-depth political journalists, too.

ABS-CBN has a long list of highly respected talents. They don't need awards or whatever type of validation to prove that.

Jessica Soho has a long list of awards on her portfolio - eh what happened with the debate hosted by GMA-7? It was a total disaster with Mike Enriquez completely making the whole debate a very cheap event.

So please - all this chimichangas about ABS-CBN not having talents is a point of view from people who don't take news seriously, and is just happy to watch TV Patrol and that's it.

Newsers in medianewser.com are all praises for Ging Reyes' effort in ABS-CBN News. It has gone a long way and is truly a highly respected and unbeatable organization.

Say what you want to say but decision makers watch ABS-CBN for critical information. They tune in to ANC to understand what's going on. CNN and Bloomberg Philippines' quality of reporting are not event close to what ANC has to offer.

So if you will go on and read tabloids for opinions about the upcoming debates, so be it. But don't expect in depth analysis from tabloids.

ABS-CBN at Manila Bulletin, partners sa ‘PiliPinas 2016 Presidential Town Hall Debate’
April 17, 2016 Filed under Showbiz atbp. Posted by Balita Online   RSS Feed

Miriam Defensor-Santiago, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, Sen.

ABS-CBN's "Pili Pinas 2016" Presidential Debate records 40.6% national TV rating
ABS-CBN Corp. Comm. April 25, 2016 03:38 PM

More Filipinos nationwide watched the five presidential candidates face off for the last time in ABS-CBN’s Presidential Town Hall Debate last Sunday (April 24), which recorded a whopping national TV rating of 40.6% – the highest among the presidential debates in Commission on Elections’ “Pili Pinas 2016” presidential debate series – according to Kantar Media.

ABS-CBN’s debate, held at the Phinma University of Pangasinan and moderated by Karen Davila and Tony Velasquez, outshined competing programs “24 Oras Weekend” (11.5%), “Vampire Ang Daddy Ko” (13.5%), “Ismol Family” (16.4%), and the “2018 Oppo PBA Commissioner’s Cup” (3.9%).

It also beat the first presidential debate hosted by GMA last February 21, which garnered 23.8%, by almost 17 points, as well as the second one hosted by TV5 last March 20, which only garnered 8.5%.

With a town hall format, ABS-CBN’s debate allowed Vice President Jejomar Binay, Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, Sen. Grace Poe, and former Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas to respond to questions about their platforms and stand on the most urgent issues facing the nation.

The debate also spurred discussions online, with the official hashtag #PilipinasDebates2016 trending nationwide and worldwide on Twitter. Praises also poured in for ABS-CBN on the micro-blogging site as netizens posted positive comments about its format.

Political analyst [email protected] said on Twitter, “Congrats @ABSCBNNews for hosting a fantastic #PiliPinasDebates2016. The vignettes were very good counterpoint to platitudes & promises.”

Twitter user @CrisostomoJake said, “The questions asked were highly intellectual. Congrats ABS for a great discussion of issues.” User @DJBDavy, meanwhile, commented, “I have never been this active on Twitter. The last Presidential Debate is worth watching!”

@JewelsHRH and [email protected] also agreed by saying “The best debate so far. Congrats to ABSCBN. Great choice of Karen Davila and Tony Velasquez for moderators” and “Congrats to @ABSCBN! Your debate format tops! The Qs were spot on! Way to go for real issues!”

The Presidential Town Hall Debate, organized by the COMELEC, KBP, ABS-CBN, and Manila Bulletin, was aired over multiple media platforms – ABS-CBN on free TV, ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel ch. 27 on cable TV, DZMM TeleRadyo on digital television (ABS-CBN TVplus) and SKYcable ch. 26, DZMM 630 on AM radio, and online via livestreaming at news.abs-cbn.com, iwantv.com.ph, and mb.com.ph.
