TV5 spoofs ABS/GMA comedy shows?
« on: March 23, 2014, 09:02:45 AM »

COMEDY shows not only tickle the bones but prove how popular the network is.

The longest-running comedy gag show “Bubble Gang” continues to bring fun and laughter to its solid and loyal viewers with jokes, skits and spoofs that its creative team and cast think every Friday night. Michael V is the frontrunner for this comedy program on GMA.

Over ABS-CBN, the longest-running children’s comedy program “Goin’ Bulilit” takes the lead on Sunday night. Actor-turned-director Edgar “Bobot” Mortiz calls the shots for the jokes and spoofs that talented kids deliver and perform. Aside from this kiddie comedy show, Direk Bobot is also in-charge of the “Banana Split/Banana Nite – both cater to mature audiences.

Not wanting to be left behind is TV 5’s “Tropa Mo KoUnli” which airs every Saturday. The comedy gag show has been reshot in the arms with Ogie Alcasid and Gelli de Belen joining the cast of mostly relatively new and young talents and discoveries of the Kapatid Network. Both Ogie and Gelli are part of the original cast of “Tropang Trumpo” of then ABC 5. Undeniably, “Tropang Trumpo” set the trend back in 80s and paved the way for the birth of comedy gag shows like “Bubble Gang.”

While the comedy gag shows on ABS-CBN and GMA spoof their respective programs and stars, TV5’s “Tropa Mo KoUnli” spoofs both network’s programs and stars. Its episode last Saturday spoofed ABS-CBN’s “Honesto” with Ogie playing the child star. There’s nothing wrong about it. In fact, TV 5 shows that entertaining the Filipino viewers should not be “exclusive and limited” to one network.  But critics say that TV5 lacks hit programs and popular stars to be spoofed. As they say, imitation is the highest form of flattery.

Does this mean that TV 5 has yet to produce programs and stars that are worth spoofing? Just asking…

Tama. Even their showbiz-oriented talk shows focused on Kapamilyas or Kapusos. Wala silang big star to create interest sa viewers at walang sikat na sikat artista na napapag-usapan.
