MANILA -- Singer-actress Nikki Gil revealed on Wednesday that her wedding to fiance, businessman BJ Albert, will happen during the last quarter of this year.
In a press launch for her new album "Love Revisited," under Universal Records, Gil, who got engaged last December, also shared some details about her wedding.
For instance, she said her sister Dani and close friend Iya Villania will be her matrons of honor.
As for the theme of the wedding, Gil said: "We want to look back at our photos 20 years from now and not cringe and say 'Ano iniisip natin at sumabay tayo sa uso?' So very classic, very traditional, nothing too out of the box."
The 27-year-old Kapamilya star, who is very discreet when it comes to her love life, also revealed that she prefers not to have her wedding televised.
"Definitely I will share the special moments sa Instagram namin, pero siguro after na -- not while it's happening," she said, quickly clarifying that she has nothing against so-called "showbiz" weddings.
"I mean I owe where I am to showbiz community as well, I will share. It's just ako ang pipili para maganda ako sa lahat ng kuha," she said in jest.
For the first time, Gil also talked at length about how she met Albert, who was introduced to her by a common friend in 2013.
The "ASAP" mainstay previously admitted dating again in November 2013, four months after she ended her five-year relationship with "It's Showtime" co-host Billy Crawford.
"At that point I was already going out, nagdi-date na ako, going out on group dates, being introduced to people. Siyempre ang mga kaibigan ko lahat na lang love prospect. Nandoon ako sa point na 'yon," she recalled on Wednesday.
"Just when I was close to 'ayaw ko na, hindi naman ako nagmamadali,' I was set up on a blind date. Hindi siya talaga blind date kasi we went to same school together, ayaw lang sabihin ng friend ko sa akin dahil baka i-Google ko siya dahil may ganoon akong ugali -- gino-Google ko ang tao, 'ano background nito,'" Gil said.
"So we went out on a date only to find out that we've been in so many places, in so many of our friends weddings and at a restaurant. 'You were there? Nandoon ka din?' It's just weird all of my friends were like how you can not know each other? Ang liit-liit ng circle na ginagalawan niyong dalawa -- as in like his closest friends are some of my closest friends.
"Parang iniisip nila bagay sana sila pero magkakilala na sila so if anything dapat matagal nang nangyari 'yon. But you know I guess it's God's timing that we should know each other now at this point in our lives because, who knows, Had we met earlier it might not have worked out. Para siyang ...it's closer to home, he's not a complete stranger, I guess which was made it easier for us to gel," she added.
Gil admitted that it didn't take her too long to fall in love again.
"I felt like hindi ako ang tipong magtatanim ng galit na ayaw ko na, lahat sila pare-pareho, hindi ako ganoon. I knew I did my part. I knew that there wasn't anything really wrong with me, which is, I guess, dala ng support system ko. I knew that I didn't deserve
it and I deserve to be happy and to be loved because that's how I am -- I like to love," she narrated.
"It didn't take much time dahil nga hindi na ako nag-wallow sa pagpapahingahin ko muna ang puso ko. Love never runs out, you know? It's one thing that the more you give away, that more it will come back to you. So I never really closed my doors to love --
and not just the romantic kind, even in friendship. Parang bakit tayo mag-aaksaya ng panahon na magkimkim ng galit when there's so many people out there who are willing to accept the love that you have to give," she said.
In a previous interview, Gil said she and Albert became officially a couple in early 2014.
Meanwhile, the singer said she's happy preparing for her big day.
"It's quite enjoyable actually. I'm grateful for my friends who have gone through the wedding ahead of me, so ang dami kong napagtatanungan. Like there's Chesca Litton, there's Iya Villania. So ang dami kong nahihingan ng advice for the wedding preparations and it's been unusually easy and enjoyable for me," Gil said.
Gil said she's also enjoying the time with Albert before she walked down the aisle .
How has she changed after the proposal?
"I can't really point my finger to it. It's just like a feeling of kumbaga if there's a tunnel, there's light at the end of the tunnel. You know na mayroong goal, may patutunguhan. You are both working towards the wedding and eventually a happy marriage," she said.
"So iba lang 'yung pakiramdam na okay, mayroong papupuntahan ito."
