#PitchAShowToABSCBN
« on: September 01, 2016, 08:31:14 PM »
Okay, so alam kong meron ng Teleserye suggestions thread, pero in light of the whole #PitchAShowToGMA/Alyas Robinhood fiasco, I felt that this is appropriate. Ang idea here is that we the commenters will willingly share our own pitches for telseryes so that ABS' creative teams  (if they even read these forums) will take heed and make use of them to hopefully create new shows. Para naman hindi paulit ulit na lang, as the folks behind the #PitchAShowToGMA hashtag said.

So, I'll start.

This is an idea for a new LizQuen teleserye. Okay since alam kong hindi lalayo ang mga LT's sa romance, instead of the typical slice of life "kiligan" stories, lets add scifi elements to it.

Premise:
Twenty years after aliens invaded and devastates the Earth, a boy and a girl meet and fall in love.

Ilang suggestions:
1. Para sa aliens, don't go with the usual "people in fancy costumes and prosthetics" route. Think of something truly alien.
2. Why not add mechas/giant robots to the mix?

I want a mini-series (2x a week, tapos mahahaba ang episodes) na ang setting nasa middle class tapos pinapakita ang struggles ng mga guro, pero yung light lang ang atake. :)

Eto, since parang nauuso ulit yung mga superhero fantaserye, why not do teenage superheroes? Pero instead of the usual superpowers, give them specific reality warping powers. Or kaya ng isang character na iteleport ang mga bagay up to a certain distance away.

I really want a weekly series! Nakaka-miss yung format na ito on local tv.

time for that na!

Same with superheroes pero kung magkaroon man, puchu puchu lang yung effects (My Super D).

Okay lang yung teleserye-like pero look at a different angle at yung makaka-relate yung tao.

Ang dami pang pwedeng i-explore na kwento about reality not fantasy. Pwede silang gumawa ng serye about professions, ang dami dyan.

Teachers, doctors, nurses.

The struggles of being a mother.

Dahil May Isang Ikaw is also a career-oriented teleserye wherein it tackles the lives of public attorneys. Although merong love angles at minsan nagiging subplot nalang yung mga kaso pero at least pinakita nya yung reality of being a public lawyer.

Kung kukunin man ng kabila yang ideas na yan, that's actually fine with me, as long as they pull it off. In that case, it just proves na tama nga si Suzette Doctolero in claiming that GMA is the most innovative station and that ABS is already dead when it comes to developing new concepts.

As for scifi/fantasy being "medyo magastos", that's not necessarily the case. Actually, it's possible to do a scifi/fantasy story with minimal reliance on special effects. I think na isa nga yung sa magiging hallmarks ng ganung show, kasi it was able to tell its story kahit wala ganong flashy effects. Super D could have done that kahit puchu puchu lang ang effects if it just invested more on its story.

Kaya puro scifi ideas ang shineshare ko kasi I am a huge scifi fan w3ho want to see the genre explored more by Pinoy teleseryes. Hindi ibig sabihin nun that I don't like "reality"-based stories. Ang point lang ng thread is to share ideas, be it scifi, slice of life, career-seryes, etc.

Pag ganyan, wala dapat yung shows like Pure Love, The Greatest Love, and Ang Probinsyano. Like for example, Enca, kahit na may magic yan pero nandyan parin yung sibling rivalry among the leads, tapos may palitan pa ng anak and revenge. The different lang nya let's say sa Dolce Amore is yung atake. Enca is imaginary/fantasy while Dolce Amore is reality.

Super D can focus on the lives of being a father in terms of managing time between work and family which is I think yun naman talaga ang gustong ipahiwatig nung show in the first place.

Nice ideas. But to pitch is parang you're offering na the product, which in case yung concept ng show, sa management. Maraming kailangan i-consider bago ma-approve yung serye. Example, would the series can connect to it's audience or maka-relate ba yung mga manonood sa love story revolving around two people falling in love at a environment which is not yet existing?

Hindi ako against sa ideas, but let's connect to the audience. Yun lang. Pero nice thread, it gives posters an avenue to share their ideas.

That would depend on the vision of the writiers pitching it. It isn't as much as about the story being "realistic" as it is about it being believable. Like I said, nakasalalay ito ultimately sa vision ng writer and how he connects that vision to the audience. At the hands of a skilled writer (at mind you, marami ang ABS nun), even the most outlandish idea, such as a love story set against the backdrop of a post-alien invasion Earth, can be made immersive and believable for the audience.

Ibabalik ko sa iyo ang tanong mo, why do fantaseryes click with the audience even though hindi naman nag-eexist ang setting nila (duwendes, engkantos, superpowers, etc. )?

Actually, mas gusto ko weekly format for teleseryes, regardless of genre, period. At least, the writers themselves will have time to plot and write their stories. Hindi katulad yung current setup natin wherein sinusulat yung script habang shinushoot, tapos airing na mamayang gabi.
