MANILA - Former "I Do" contestants Karen Borbador and Chris Tan have broken up, nearly two months after the ABS-CBN reality show aired its final episode.

Borbador revealed the split in an Instagram post early this week, saying she owed it to the viewers who followed their journey on "I Do."

The radio personality said, unedited: "Since I did an ABS CBN reality show about relationships last year and got many of you emotionally involved in it… I feel it's just right I let you all know that we are no longer together. It's been 4 amazing years. I didn't expect this to happen but it did."

Although she did not detail the reason behind the breakup, Borbador said, unedited: "Never stay cause its sayang. I've exhausted myself trying to work things out but we just have to accept that good things may have an end too. What a journey!"

Nonetheless, Borbador assured that she is fine and that she intends to devote time to her radio and modeling career.

"Staring 2015 fresh! Hopeful and excited to fulfill all my dreams," she said. "Will focus on my career! So I'm alright. Time to be awesome and just be grateful. This girl is on fire! Thank you for understanding! New Year New Me: I'm officially SINGLE."

Borbador and Tan were one of the last three "I Do" couples in the running for the grand prize of an all-expenses-paid wedding, a house and lot, and P1 million, among others.

However, the couple decided to quit the reality show over unresolved issues, which they had decided to settle behind the cameras, according to Tan.

This, after nearly three months in "I Do," which, as a format, sought to strengthen the relationships of competing couples through a series of challenges and by tackling problems.
