Maricel Soriano, no longer part of "Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin"

Written By Admin on Monday, January 21, 2013 | 23:28

Veteran actress Maricel Soriano will no longer be part of the upcoming ABS-CBN series “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin.”

The decision was made by the ABS-CBN Management not to continue the said project with Maricel Soriano and she will be replaced by another actress, Dawn Zulueta. This was made for Maricel Soriano after the unfortunate incident that involved her and Gerald Anderson, her co-star in the teleserye.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN confirmed the incident via a statement on Monday night, January 21, saying Maricel will no longer be part of the cast:

Due to the unfortunate incident between Gerald Anderson and Maricel Soriano that transpired on the first taping day of “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin,” the ABS-CBN management and the management of Maricel Soriano have agreed that Maricel will no longer be part of the cast. The teleserye starring Gerald Anderson will proceed as scheduled.

Dawn in talks to replace Maricel in series

ABS-CBNnews.com

Posted at 01/27/2013 7:17 PM | Updated as of 01/28/2013 4:10 PM

MANILA, Philippines – Actress Dawn Zulueta confirmed that she is in talks to take over the role of Maricel Soriano in the upcoming drama series, “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin.”

Dawn Zulueta

Zulueta said the producers of the new ABS-CBN series had already sent her the storyline.

“At nagustuhan ko rin (ang story),” she said in an exclusive interview with “The Buzz” that aired on Sunday. “Right now ang nangyayari ay naguusap ang business manager ko na si Boy Abunda, at saka ang ABS-CBN at malalaman natin sa Lunes kung ano ang desisyon.”

Last week, reports on Soriano's alleged outburst on the set of the upcoming drama series circulated online. The 47-year-old actress allegedly lost her temper over co-star Gerald Anderson's numerous takes in filming a scene.

Soriano's management and that of ABS-CBN's -- which produces the TV series -- have since decided to exclude the Diamond Star from the cast.

Star Magic, ABS-CBN's talent management arm, however, backed Anderson's “unassailable personal character and professional behavior,” following the alleged incident.

Zulueta admitted to “The Buzz” that she is leaning towards accepting the project.

“It’s a wonderful story and a wonderful cast. 'Yung likelihood na tatanggapin ko ito is pretty high but it’s still pending nga sa mga usap-usapan nila, ni Boy Abunda at saka ng executives. Sa Lunes talaga pa namin ‘yan ma-co-confirm,” she said.

MANILA, Philippines -- Actress Dawn Zulueta admitted that she feels sorry for veteran star Maricel Soriano, whom she replaced on the upcoming series "Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin."

Dawn Zulueta

"Si Ate Maria, I really looked up to her. When I heard the news, I was really surprised. It was very unfortunate. I assure you, I had nothing to do with it," Zulueta said on Monday when she was officially presented to members of the press as part of the new drama series.

Zulueta said she felt sad when she heard about Soriano being dropped from the new soap. "Bilang kapwa artista mo, ayaw mong makarinig ng ganoon. It was too unfortunate," she said.

But at the same time, Zulueta also admitted she feels nervous about filling the shoes of Soriano as she vowed to give her best to make her "Ate Maria" proud.

"I really want to make ate Maria proud. I hope," she said, adding that she's just excited to be working again after the phenomenal success of "Walang Hanggan" last year.

She also doesn't mind that she was just a second choice. "That is not really an issue to me. When it was offered to me I like it," Zulueta said.

On Monday afternoon, the actress, who is considered among the most beautiful women in showbiz, and co-star Anderson also had a photo shoot for the series.

Zulueta earlier confirmed on "The Buzz" that the producers of the series have already sent her the storyline.

Last week, reports on Soriano's alleged outburst on the set of the upcoming drama series circulated online. The 47-year-old actress allegedly lost her temper during filming.

MANILA, Philippines -- Actor Gerald Anderson on Monday welcomed actress Dawn Zulueta, who is now officially part of the upcoming series "Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin."

Dawn Zulueta and Gerald Anderson

In a taped message, Anderson, along with the rest of the show's cast, greeted Zulueta, who is replacing veteran star Maricel Soriano in the series.

"Hi Miss Dawn, welcome to 'Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin.' Sobra po kaming blessed, excited, privileged and thankful na kasama po kayo. Pumayag po kayo," Anderson said.

This is the second time Anderson will be working with Zulueta, who played his mother in the movie "Catch Me... I'm In Love," which also starred Sarah Geronimo.

"Sobrang blessed po ako na ito po 'yung pangalawang beses -- sa TV naman. Thank you, thank you at sobra kaming excited," Anderson said.

In an interview with ABS-CBNnews.com, Zulueta said she personally thanked Anderson for accepting her as part of the project.

"Kasi kanina nagkita kami sabi ko, 'Hi Gerald, thank you for having me.' Sabi niya, 'No, we are the one who are supposed to thank you for having us.' 'Yun 'yung opening greeting namin sa isa't isa," Zulueta said.

Last week, reports on Soriano's alleged outburst on the set of the upcoming drama series circulated online. The 47-year-old actress allegedly lost her temper while filming a scene with Anderson.

Soriano's management and that of ABS-CBN's -- which produces the TV series -- have since decided to exclude Soriano from the cast.

Star Magic, ABS-CBN's talent management arm, however, backed Anderson's “unassailable personal character and professional behavior,” following the incident.

Dawn Zulueta wants kids to get physical

By Maridol Rañoa-Bismark | Yahoo! Southeast Asia Newsroom – Mon, Feb 18, 2013 1:58 PM PHT

Glam mom Dawn Zulueta doesn’t seem to be the type who’d go down on all fours and scrape those smooth knees of her.  Neither does she look capable of dirtying those dainty hands with – horrors! – mud pies from the beach.

Surprise, surprise! She is.

“I remember ang dami kong galos sa tuhod,”  Dawn recalls her happy childhood at the launch of Breeze with ActivBleach. “I used to play with the boys – biking, habulan, patintero. There was an empty lot in front of our house that had gravel.  Some sort of construction work was going on. It was really tall, like a hill. We’d roll down, bring the bike up and down and come home so dirty!”

You guessed it.  Her mom scolded Dawn for coming home all smelly and dirty at night.

Now that she’s a mother, Dawn would like her children, Jacobo and Ayisha to experience what she’s been through and savor their childhood.  But she knows times have changed.  New diseases from pollution and other causes put children at risk when they go outdoors.

“That’s the only reason I am wary of my kids going out anywhere. You don’t know what they’ll pick up.”

Davao summer

Summer vacations in Davao are more freewheeling.  Dawn, her husband, Anton Lagdameo and their children hie off to the beach.  Dawn looks forward to joining her little ones in creating sandcastles and mud pies the whole day long.

She doesn’t mind the dirt and the grime at all.

“They’re kids. You have to adjust to them,” she reasons out.

Indulging in child’s play helps Dawn as much as it does her kids. It transports her back to simpler times, when she didn’t have a care in the world, when all that matters is having fun and living the moment.

“It’s therapeutic, a great way to fight stress,” she smiles.

That’s why Dawn wants not just her children, but others like them to get more physical, to go outdoors and play. Of course, this also calls for a lot of care.

“We have this fear na baka masagasaan, or baka may ma-pick up (na sakit) outdoors,” she admits.

Balancing act

The balancing act is something only loving mothers (and fathers) can do.

This summer will be a lot different from the rest, though.  Dawn will be dividing her time between taping for ABS-CBN’s “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin" and campaigning for her congressman-husband in the coming elections.

The showbiz-family set-up was totally unexpected.  Dawn thought she’ll just be helping Anton campaign this summer and focus solely on her family.  But she replaced Maricel Soriano in the soap at the last minute. “I owe a lot to ABS-CBN, which produced (the top-rating soap) ‘Walang Hanggan.’ I love acting.  Also, I want to please the fans,” Dawn explains why she can’t say no to the new project.

That, a supportive husband beside her, make everything fall into place for Dawn.

In her guest appearance on the ABS-CBN morning talk show "Kris TV" aired on Friday, Zulueta said she will work again with Gomez after the May 2013 elections.

New soap, movie for Dawn, Richard

MANILA, Philippines -- After their successful reunion in the primetime series "Walang Hanggan," Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta are set to do at least two new projects together, including a soap opera, the actress confirmed early this week.

Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta in a scene from the defunct drama series "Walang Hanggan"

"We're about to sign up with Star Cinema, so we'll most likely have a movie with them this year," the 44-year-old actress told reporters on Sunday.

"Then there is another movie that we're working on, which will be coming out for release naman next year," she added.

Zulueta expressed excitement about another project, a TV series, where she will also co-star with Gomez, her former boyfriend and frequent on-screen leading man in the '90s.

"It seems like it's going to be a very busy year. Pagkatapos ko pala itong ma-wrap up, 'yung 'Bukas Nalang Kita Mamahalin,' I'm going jump right into another soap which includes Richard also. So para kaming magka-klase. Feeling ko everyday tayo magkikita ngayon," she said.

"Bukas Nalang Kita Mamahalin" is an earlier announced soap opera where Zulueta will co-star with actor Gerald Anderson and actress Cristine Reyes.

The scheduled telecast for the drama series has yet to be announced.

Asked how she feels about her tandem with Gomez being dubbed the "All-Time Favorite Love Team," Zulueta said, "Parang 'di kami makapaniwala, kasi sabi ko nga, napaka-gurangers na natin, 'no."

The two were recently awarded the "All Time Favorite Love Team on Movies and TV" at the 44th Box-Office Entertainment Awards, which is organized by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation, Inc.

"Pero 'yung titulo mismo na 'All-Time Favorite Love Team,' it's such a big, all-encompassing title and it's really, ano, nakaka-proud. Talagang maraming salamat sa lahat ng bumubuo ng Guillermo Mendoza foundation," she said.

Dawn was hesitant to accept role in new teleserye

ABS-CBNnews.com
Posted at 08/31/2013 5:37 PM | Updated as of 08/31/2013 5:37 PM

Actress Dawn Zulueta

MANILA, Philippines – Actress Dawn Zulueta said that her role in ABS-CBN’s new teleserye “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin” is her way to “give back to the network.”

“To think that when we started working I was busy campaigning na (with husband Congressman Anton Lagdameo). Buti na lang naiintindihan ako ng husband ko and this is all an opportunity for me naman to give back sa network, so ‘yun, tinanggap ko,” she said of her role in the teleserye, which is set to air on September 2 in ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida slot.

According to Push.com.ph, Zulueta had also just finished “Walang Hanggan” when the role was offered to her, and was initially hesitant to accept the role.

While she did not expect to start working again so soon, she said “yes” because the network needed her to fill the role vacated by Maricel Soriano, who had earlier been cast as Zenaida Dizon, the mother of Gerald Anderson’s character in the teleserye.

“Well, hindi ko in-expect na ganito ka soon na I start working again pero ‘yun nga nangailangan ‘yung network ng kapalit for Maricel (Soriano). Nahiya naman akong magsabi na, ‘Ay, hindi pwede’,” she said.

The actress also said that she is excited about her role, which is different from the usual “mother role” in teleseryes. In “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin”, Zenaida is a mother intent on seeking justice for her son.

“Exciting kasi it’s a different kind of role naman that I’m portraying, quite different from what I’ve done in the past in ‘Mula sa Puso’ and ‘Walang Hanggan’. And this time naman I’m fighting for the kalayaan ng anak ko so [it’s] another heavy drama,” she said.
