So, on Turo-turo sa DZMM Teleradyo tonight:

"Sabado Feb 7 2015.

"Gusto ko Maging Nurse, Pero Ano ba ang Lagay ng Nursing Education sa Pilipinas?"

Guests:

Rep. Leah Paquiz
Ang NARS Party List
House of Representatives

Dr. Carmelita Divinagracia
Chair, CHED Technical Panel on Nursing
Member, Board of Nursing
Past President, Association of Deans of the Phil Colleges of Nursing"

From their Facebook page.

With the looming global nursing crisis, not only the Philippines but the world should give nurses importance.

Here's an informative video
Philippines A World Without Nurses

Uploaded on Nov 14, 2011. This video gives you a snapshot of why the world needs nurses. Nursing is possibly one of the most important professions in the world. Yet, nurses continue to be undervalued by so many. This inspirational video will throw a new light on this wonderful profession. Produced by Ausmed Education. Please note, all comments are moderated and those considered to be abusive, defamatory or discriminatory will not be published.

[There are 7 billion ++ people in the world, but only 17 million nurses.

At 2:10 mark: Nurses are also getting older. More than half of nurses are over 40. 20% of nurses will reach retirement in 5 years (2016). Many nations share a common problem: a critical shortage of nurses.

Why should you care?

Pumalo nga sa ratings yung MMK Nurse Rapper, and national TV material yung mga news related sa nurses/nursing profession. Our country needs to realize yung power ng nurses (read: all Pinoy nurses, hindi lang yung nasa Pilipinas but those overseas) - voting power, most specially. Baka dumating ang panahon na producer lang ang Pilipinas ng nurses pero sa hospitals natin, salat sa nurses. Nasa ibang bansa na nagpapractice.

So many issues: Salary based on the 2002 nursing law, employment/placement, nurse to patient ratio, false volunterism/volunterism for a fee

And sana national levels ay maging front and center din naman na i-discuss ang issue na ito. Malapit na naman ang election-- yung mga nakaupo sa position, this is a chance for you to shine. Maraming boto kayong makukuha (including families of nurses) kung pagtutuunan at masosolusyunan nyo ang issues related sa nursing.
