DZMM is most awarded news organization in 2012 Philippine Quill Awards

Written By Admin on Thursday, November 22, 2012 | 15:15

DZMM made it as the country’s most awarded news organization at the 11th Philippine Quill Awards by bagging three honors, including the highly coveted Top Award in Communication Skills and two Awards of Excellence.

DZMM’s website DZMM.com.ph beat the other nominees for the prestigious Top Award in Communication Skills division namely TV5’s online news portal InterAksyon.com; Manila Water Co.’s “Sustainable Growth: Manila Water’s 2011 Sustainability Report”; Manila Electric Co.’s “Meralco and One Meralco Foundation’s Unified 2011 Annual Reports”; and Smart Communications’ SmartSpeak Online.

ABS-CBN’s flagship AM station also received two Awards of Excellence for DZMM.com.ph in the electronic and digital communication category and for its annual fun run for a cause “Takbo Para sa Karunungan Year 2012,” where over 4,000 runners turned up to run for the benefit of 75 young Filipino scholars from areas devastated by recent typhoons.

To date, DZMM is the lone news organization to earn two Top Awards in the history of Philippine Quill Awards, including 2010’s Top Award in Communication Management for “DZMM Kapamilya, Shower Na!,” a public service project launched in October 2009 to respond to the hygiene and sanitation needs of Typhoon Ondoy victims.

The Philippine Quill Award is being given by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines and is awarded to communications programs and tools that exhibit clear objectives and strategies, creative executions and measurable benefits. It is considered to be the country’s most prestigious and relevant award for business communications programs. IABC is a global network of more than 14,000 business communication professionals in over 60 countries. The Philippines is the first IABC chapter outside North America.

Posted in ShowBIZ 13. Dec, 2012

Love Always and Forever” tuwing 1-3 PM.

Ted ni-lecture-an ng taga-PAGASA

For a change ay nabaligtad ang pangyayari. Siya na ang tinuruan. Hahaha!

ABS-CBN Anchors Lead 3rd "DZMM Takbo Para Sa Karunungan"

ABS-CBN anchors Karen Davila, Gerry Baja, Winnie Cordero, Gretchen Fullido, and Kim Atienza who serves as ambassador will lead the 3rd “DZMM Takbo Para sa Karunungan,” which takes place on March 23 (Saturday), 4 AM at the Quirino Grandstand.

They will join thousands of participants in the fun run that seeks to fund the scholarship of the AM radio station’s 75 scholars, 25 of which are from the Sendong-hit Cagayan de Oro and 50 from Metro Manila who were affected by the Habagat and typhoon Ondoy.

Aside from the rewarding involvement in the DZMM campaign, the top runners will also receive cash prizes in the 3 km, 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km race categories and participating largest government organizations, non-government organizations, and school contingents.

Before the launch of “Takbo Para sa Karunungan” in 2011, DZMM started organizing the annual “Takbo Para sa Kalikasan” in 1999. It was in support of several campaigns for the environment such as the continued rehabilitation of the La Mesa watershed and the Pasig Rehabilitation Project through ABS-CBN Foundation’s “Bantay Kalikasan.”

The better future of the scholars lies in your feet. To register, visit www.dzmm.com.ph or call the secretariat at 4152272 local 5674 and 5641.

Citizen journalism goes beyond reportage
 (The Philippine Star)

MANILA, Philippines - Close to half a million Bayan Patrollers are using citizen journalism skills to engage candidates and government and push solutions to community problems.

As ABS-CBN revs up its Halalan2013 campaign with a final swing of citizen journalism and voters’ empowerment workshops, its integrated news service is tapping the wonders of digital technology to present viewers with the country’s broadest interactive election coverage.

Bayan Mo iPatrol Mo (BMPM), the country’s longest-running citizen journalism program, conducted with partner schools and organizations 46 voters’ empowerment forums and workshops in the last semester of 2012.

ABS-CBN’s Integrated News Division has also launched its KampanyaSerye, providing more in-depth coverage of key electoral races in the country.

The cable news channel ANC, DZMM on radio and the Current Affairs group, through Umagang Kay Ganda, are also dedicating hours to Harapan, a forum that dissects candidates’ platforms.

BMPM’s new slogan, Tayo Na, anchors the network’s election campaign. The call echoes reality on the ground, where citizens are using social media not only to call attention to community problems but also to organize and mobilize collective initiatives for change.

“Citizens are saying, it is not enough just to vote. They are determined to monitor the elections and help keep them honest and peaceful. Even more important, citizen journalists are using new skills to remind politicians of unmet promises and unfinished tasks,” said Ging Reyes, ABS-CBN SVP for integrated news.

KampanyaSerye, a series of teleserye-style documentaries that started last Jan. 14 where the network’s journalists explore the stories behind the headlines, campaign promises, drama and characters in key Halalan2013 battlegrounds.

KampanyaSerye’s special on political dynasties titled Kamag-anak Inc., which aired Sunday, received positive feedback.

“This project aims to bring out the issues that matter to the electorate and show the competencies of aspiring leaders,” Reyes said. The documentaries air on TV Patrol, ANC, DZMM TeleRadyo and on ABS-CBNNews.com, which provides a digital home for the “producers’ cut.”

DZMM, meanwhile, was the first broadcast news org to gather candidates in a public forum titled Bagito o Beterano? The DZMM Halalan 2013 Forum last month was held at the University of the East-Manila.

Kuya Kim, Karylle and Matteo Guidicelli Run for DZMM's 75 Scholars

Singer-actress Karylle celebrated her birthday last Saturday (March 23) by participating in the 3rd “DZMM Takbo Para sa Karunungan” along with her fellow Kapamilya stars ‘Kuya’ Kim Atienza, Matteo Guidicelli and over 3,000 runners at the Quirino Grandstand, Manila.

Karylle, one of the fun run’s ambassadors, said it was a great opportunity to spend her special day by sharing her blessings. “I’m so inspired to help these children because although they were devastated by typhoons, they are still willing to study,” she said of DZMM’s 75 scholars, who were devastated by typhoons Ondoy, Sendong and the Habagat.

“Takbo Para sa Karunungan” ambassador and triathlete Kuya Kim, meanwhile, shared tips with the participants on how they can cross the finish line first during the post-race program.

Matteo, on the other hand, made good on his promise last year to continue supporting DZMM’s advocacy for education by participating in the event.

Former ABS-CBN Manila Radio Division Head Peter Musngi, DZMM anchors Ariel Ureta, Ahwel Paz, Winnie Cordero, Maresciel Yao, Atty. Claire Castro, and Carl Balita also took part in the fun run, which will fund the scholarship of the 75 scholars.

DZMM 'Takbo Para Sa Karunungan' Gains Support

DZMM’s annual fun run to raise funds for deserving scholars has drawn support from the alumni of the St. Jude Catholic School batch 1990, which is backing the “DZMM Takbo Para sa Karunungan.” “We saw the value of DZMM’s project, and it is about education, which also happened to be our advocacy. We believe that education is the most important factor for the individuals to excel in their lives by getting a better career,” said SJCS ’90 president Francis Yu. Judenites ’90 will shoulder the scholarship of 20 of the 75 scholars to whom DZMM gives continuous educational support from their first grade in elementary. To formalize a partnership, a signing of memorandum of agreement (MOA) was held and attended by (left to right) DZMM finance officer Andrew Torcelino, DZMM station manager Marah Faner-Capuyan, SJCS’90 president Francis Yu, ABS-CBN Integrated News and Current Affairs head Ging Reyes, and SJCS’90 secretary Jacquelyn Balila. “DZMM Takbo Para sa Karunungan” is a fun run held annually to raise funds for the chosen students’ education from Metro Manila and Cagayan de Oro that were affected by typhoons Ondoy, Sendong and the Habagat. This year’s event took place last Saturday (March 23) at the Quirino Grandstand, Manila.

Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan Anchors DZMM's Newest Family-Oriented Program "Kapamilya Konek"

Celebrity mom and parenting advocate Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan ventures into radio to help families resolve their issues and strengthen their bond via DZMM’s newest program “Kapamilya Konek,” which begins this Sunday (April 21) at 5 PM.

Maricel returns to being a Kapamilya to deliver public service and relevant discussions weekly, which she said is a rare opportunity that has been given to her by DZMM.

“When the program was offered to me, I was elated and excited about the whole idea. It sits well with what I do and stand for – being on media and reaching millions with our advocacy,” she said.

Maricel is known for being a hands-on mom to her five kids and has published three children’s books. She finished her Master’s Degree in Family and Life Development from UP Diliman and is active in topics concerning health, balanced nutrition, and education.

The program’s regular segments include “Payong Kapamilya,” an on-air discussion of family problems with live guests seeking advice and resolution with the help of professional experts.

In “Konek sa Korek,” Maricel refers individuals to an organization and government or private agencies that can help provide information and expertise on their inquiries.

The highlight of the program, meanwhile, is “Kapamilya Konek” where families who are separated by poverty, work, or circumstance will be reunited through phone patch, video call, or by providing them free sea, air, or land travel.

Also featured in the program is “Itanong kay Teacher Tina,” where educator Tina Zamora takes on issues surrounding the school life of kids, and “Family Friendly Ito!” which gives tips and ideas for budget-friendly, safe, and fun activities the whole family can enjoy.

Maricel, an award-winning actress, added that it is a big responsibility for her and her husband Anthony Pangilinan’s family to be viewed as a role model by other Filipino families.

“It is an honor that comes with great responsibility and pressure. We aren’t perfect but we do take our parenting seriously. We have many advocacies but one that is closest to our hearts would be teaching children to look up to their parents as role models,” she added.

Don’t miss “Kapamilya Konek” with Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan on Sundays, 5 PM on DZMM Radyo Patrol 630, DZMM TeleRadyo (SkyCable Channel 26), and dzmm.com.ph. For updates, like www.facebook.com/kapamilyakonek or follow @konekkadyan on Twitter.

DZMM, the First Broadcast News Organization to Mount Public Forum for Electoral Candidates

DZMM launched its first “Bagito o Beterano? The DZMM Halalan 2013 Forum” last Saturday (Feb 9) at the University of the East – Manila  where neophyte and veteran politicians running for the May elections faced off for the first time in a public forum. The event brought together senatorial candidates, former senators Richard Gordon, Ernesto Maceda, Jun Magsaysay, Cong. Sonny Angara and Manila mayor Alfredo Lim representing the “beterano” panel, and senatorial candidates Grace Poe-Llamanzares, Bro. Eddie Villanueva, Bam Aquino, gubernatorial candidate in Masbate Fr. Leo Casas, and former reporter and congressional candidate Sol Aragones making up the “bagito” panel. The electoral hopefuls expressed their views on different issues such as political dynasty, divorce, disaster preparedness, environmental and educational concerns, campaign strategy, as well as the programs they plan to carry out if they get elected. The public was also given a chance to voice out their opinions via text and social media poll where 88% said they would vote for the “bagitos” or the neophyte politicians if the elections were to be held the following day, while only 12% said they sided with the “beteranos” or veteran politicians. The forum was moderated by Kabayan Noli De Castro, accompanied by Henry Omaga-Diaz and Jing Castaneda. “Bagito o Beterano: The DZMM Halalan 2013 Forum” is part of a series of debates and election specials produced by Mega Manila’s number one AM radio station to help voters get to know the candidates for different government posts.

Dear DZMM,

1. Could the hosts/anchors let interviewees say their piece to a certain query before butting in?
2. Could the hosts not simultaneously talk because it is such a mess on the ears as heard on air especially when one host use a more booming voice to overpower the other host? I have noticed this frequently on Karen Davila and Vic Lima's afternoon program.

I am sure all of your hosts took this up as basics in communication arts.

Hope you address these matters.
Thank you for taking time to read this.

Sincerely,
:)

Wow!!!

Outstanding report by Mr. Cayabyab just now on DZMM!!!! (Arrest/cytotec/abortifacents)
Complete. Explained very well. Napapanahon.

Great job sir and your team!

See definition!) at sumunod sa batas!

Imagine no medical/pharmacological background nagrerecommend at nagbebenta say ng gamot?!

Seriously!!!

If a person can't give you a satisfactory scientific/medical explanation backed by real scientific evidence of how a medicine works (its classification, mode of action) and its side effects and how and how frequent it should be taken, indications, contraindications, food and drug interactions, do not take the medicine offered to you!
