Party Pilipinas Bids Goodbye, To Air Finale Episode on May 19

Posted on May 12, 2013 | 8:09 PM

GMA-7's Sunday musical variety show Party Pilipinas will soon go off air. The three-year Sunday show will finally bid goodbye this May 19. The news came out after the Kapuso network cancelled another Sunday show H.O.T TV (Hindi Ordinaryong Tsismis).

Party Pilipinas Bids Goodbye, To Air Finale Episode on May 19

The end of Party Pilipinas was confirmed by Lilybeth Rasonable, GMA Network's OIC for Entertainment TV. In a statement sent to PEP, Ms. Rasonable talked of a new musical variety show that will replace Party Pilipinas in an attempt to boost GMA-7's Sunday noontime offering.

The statement reads:

"In a few weeks, there will be exciting changes in the Sunday noontime offering of GMA. The new musical variety show will have more fun and thrilling elements that viewers must definitely watch out for, still with the biggest and brightest Kapuso stars. More information on the show will be announced soon."

Performers of the show took to Twitter expressing their gratitude to those who supported the show on its three-year run.

"Sa lahat ng sumuporta sa Amin sa partypilipinas, salamat! It has been an awesome 3 years. We will never forget you. We love you," Ogie Alcasid posted on his official Twitter account.

"Thank you for supporting Party Pilipinas next week will be our last! Thanks so much for ur love and until next time:-)," Jaya said on Twitter confirming that May 19 will be their last episode, which is said to have the title Party Pilipinas Take A Bow.

Rumor has it that there became an unhealthy competition between the two teams in the show, involving the directors. However, one possible reason for Party Pilipinas' demise is very much like what happened on its predecessor SOP going off air after being consistently beaten by rival ASAP of ABS-CBN.

There has been reports that Level Up will be replacing Party Pilipinas as the new Kapuso Sunday noontime variety show but nothing has been finalized yet.

Well, what will happen now to Christian Bautista who just transferred to the Kapuso network and went on to perform in Party Pilipinas? He may be joining the replacement but surely, GMA-7 has a teleserye for him. As for the other performers of the show, let's just wish them luck on their every endeavor.

Party Pilipinas senior stars feel left out

Feeling namin, it was bound to happen.

We will just wait and see ang developments ng papalit na show kung mananatili pa sa programa si Songbird.

'Spotlight' to replace 'Party Pilipinas'?

    Published : Tuesday, May 14, 2013 00:00
    Written by : Nitz Miralles

IN-ANNOUNCE ni Ogie Alcasid sa Party Pilipinas last Sunday na last episode na ng Sunday musical variety show ng GMA-7 sa Sunday, May 19.

May teaser na rin ang last episode titled Take A Bow.

Sabi ng announcement: “In a few weeks there will be exciting changes in the Sunday noontime offering of GMA. The new musical variety show will have more fun and thrilling elements that viewers must definitely watch out for still with the biggest and brightest Kapuso stars. More information on the show will be announced soon.”

That's probably why he is your EX-BF, he doesn't have taste, lol.

Good for them... still don't see a reason to just retitle the show and have the same personalities on it? What does that do exactly? Its the same boring overrated show.

Will they call it something-something and RULES at the end of it just for people to say it RULES even if its just false advertising in the title?

WANTED: ALTERNATIVE VIEWING

ABOUT Sunday noontime musical variety shows, actually, you can only do so much for this kind of format. In the final analysis, it’s mainly song and dance numbers strung together. Whatever you call it, it’ll still be the same banana.

The edge of ABS-CBN’s “ASAP” is that they just have more stars participating in their Sunday show than GMA7. In the end, it’s actually just a display of star power and, compared to the stables of GMA and, even more so, TV5, they simply have more stars “na tinitilian ng fans.” The only way for GMA7 to have a more watchable Sunday show is to have bigger and brighter stars that will attract more fans to follow them.

Or maybe, they should not compete head on with ASAP but just pit a show against it that has a different format, something that will offer an unexpected alternative for Sunday showing. Look at what ABS accomplished with “Be Careful with My Heart” that they succeeded in making the number one daytime show these days. No wonder they keep on extending it and extending it...

Party is over for Party Pilipinas

By Nickie Wang | Posted on May. 19, 2013 at 6:01pm

HOSTS, singers, dancers and other talents of the supposedly top-rating musical show of Kapuso Network, Party Pilipinas, had their swan son two Sundays ago as the show had been axed.

In a statement by an official of GMA Network, it says that in a few weeks, there will be exciting changes in the Sunday noontime offering of the station. The irresistible pitch of the executive furthered that a new program that will replace the three-year-old “concert party” is an exciting musical variety show that “will have more fun and thrilling elements that viewers must definitely watch out for.”

Sadly, Party Pilipinas now has something in common with its predecessor (SOP…Sobrang Okay Pare), which after more than a decade of going head to head with its biggest competitor (Asap) in terms of viewership, it finally gave up its claim of being the no.1 show every Sunday. SOP’s ratings dropped significantly during its last few months and staging the show was both a nightmare and production suicide for the station as they were just losing millions every week. We are not entirely sure if the situation is the same this time around but we do know why television stations suddenly do major revamp.

Had Party Pilipinas been a television series, it would be easy for us to understand why it’s going to end, but Party Pilipinas is not a soap hence it’s safe enough to surmise that it faces cancellation because it fell short in delivering acceptable figures in viewership and advertising revenues. Rumor has it that GMA Network loses P10 million each week just to keep the musical show hosted by Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, Janno Gibbs and Jaya.

We just hope though that GMA Network finds suitable assignments for people who would lose their job once the show bids goodbye especially those who transferred from Asap believing that Party Pilipinas is the better place to be.

Sunday All Stars: Same Artists, Different Format, One Sunday Entertainment

Posted on June 8, 2013 | 10:52 AM

The Kapuso network will air soon the replacement of Party Pilipinas, the defunct Sunday musical variety show of GMA-7. Titled Sunday All Stars, the show promised an all-out fun Sunday afternoon for the whole family.

Sunday All Stars

According to reports and press releases, Sunday All Stars will infuse a new level of noontime TV experience with music and games. Every week, there will also be a showdown of 4 celebrity teams headed by Christian Bautista, Mark Bautista, Jolina Magdangal and Jennylyn Mercado.

SOP and Party Pilipinas mainstays Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, Jaya and Janno Gibbs will also be part of Sunday All Stars together with younger generations of Kapuso stars including Heart Evangelista, Lovi Poe, Carla Abellana, Rachelle Ann Go, Julie Anne San Jose, Elmo Magalona, Alden Richards, Glaiza de Castro and a lot more.

In previous reports after Party Pilipinas was axed, it was revealed that 50% of the defunct's show cast members will be part of its replacement and it's not surprising to see the ones above in the new show. After all, they were the stars referred to in the title Sunday All Stars.

Directed by Rommel Gacho, Sunday All Stars "will definitely bring fun and excitement every Sunday afternoon through its world-class performers, ground-breaking concepts, and inventive production numbers this June," said a press release.

On its Facebook page, it was indicated that Sunday All Stars will go head-to-head with longest-running Sunday musical variety show ASAP 18 starting June 16. Can the tested formula of celebrity competitions with loud numbers and extravagant production value save GMA-7's Sunday noontime?

We'll just see on the 16th.

Well, SOP was cancelled on February 28, 2010 due to that it couldn't beat its rival show, ASAP. It was replaced by Party Pilipinas on March 28, 2010, and gained higher ratings, but was cancelled on May 19, 2013. It was replaced by Sunday All Stars on June 16, 2013, and it also gained higher ratings.
