Erik Santos knows about Rufa Mae Quinto's affair with Robin Padilla

Basta kami, mabuti kaming magkaibigan, maganda ang aming samahan, and we're okay.

"Alam ko sasabihin ng iba na showbiz ang answer ko, but we're friends and we're better off as friends. As of now, we're doing okay sa kanya-kanya naming buhay and happy kami sa anumang estado ng relasyon namin ngayon bilang isang mabuting magkaibigan.

ROBIN-RUFA MAE AFFAIR.

Ani Erik, "I know about that, so hindi na ako nagugulat because alam ko na nga ang lahat. Just like I've said, lahat ng sinabi at nakasulat dun sa YES!, alam ko.

I'm not in the position to disclose anything about what she said.

Pero kahit naman di ko sabihin ‘yon, alam kong gagawin niya because Rufa has a humble heart."

    Erik Santos

Magazine March 2008 issue.

Voting for MYX Music Awards ends today, March 10
    Glenn Atanacio
    Monday, March 10, 2008
    02:12 PM

Imagine a tired Aia de Leon walking on the dusty outskirts of Mt. Pinatubo. Her shoulders slump gracelessly when she hitches a ride. Then she falls fast asleep. Outside the car, the road bears its tire tracks. Soldiers march to meet insurgents. The sun warns one away from its harsh warmth, but the Imago vocalist soon alights from the vehicle. She trudges on while her song "Sundo" plays in the background, telling the viewers about going the distances one endures with patience.

When Aia arrived at the launch of the MYX Music Awards bar tour held last March 6 at Mag:net Café, Bonifacio High Street, she did not come from a long hike in Pampanga. Instead, the band turns up from "kanya-kanyang lakad." The first paragraph merely describes the music video of "Sundo," which comes to mind when Imago presents the song.

After her lively performance, Aia told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that the band Imago was invited to take part in Singapore's Mosaic Music Festival. This 10-day envent showcases the best in jazz, world music, soul, and hip-hop. The chosen international, home-grown and regional artists will perform with up-and-coming musicians at the Esplanade from March 7-16.

Aside from Imago, other bands that performed at the launch included Silent Sanctuary, Sponge Cola, and Pupil, whose guitarist Yani Yuson celebrated his birthday that night. Ely Buendia, the former vocalist of the Eraserheads, granted an exclusive interview with PEP wherein he reiterated that he is still not open to an Eraserheads reunion even after they disbanded six years ago.

The MYX Music Awards bar tour, which started at 10 p.m. and ended at around 1 a.m., was hosted by MYX VJs Drei and Igi.

Directed by Marie Jamora, the music video of "Sundo" shows the constancy of movement with relics such as seashells, mud stains on cars, a spare tire. It pays tribute to the journeys people take everyday to make ends meet. Thus it strikes a chord among the viewers on MYX and they reward that with a nomination for favorite music video in the MYX Music Awards.

Aia acknowledges the music video's role in interacting with audiences: "It's a visual cue for the audience to be able to relate to your music more. It relies on your sense of sight. It helps to bring the music to a different level." She narrated that they shot the video on the Mount Pinatubo trail at Capas, Tarlac.

There are other videos that made the same connection with the viewers and accepted a nomination in the favorite music video category of MYX. These include Bamboo's "Probinsyana," Callalily's "Magbalik," Chicosci's "Vampire Social Club," and Sponge Cola's "Tuliro."

Probinsyana directed by Pancho Esguerra is an ironic rendering of the countryside lass. The song for a Pepsi ad has loud and catchy video-spiced up with a sexy dance and an always bouncing Bamboo Mañalac.

Tuliro by Trey Contreras shows off an animated periscope, giving the Sponge Cola members peeks at a rather intimidating lady. The video achieves a confused quality, brimming with spirit and energy associated with inebriated people.

On the other hand, Magbalik by Wincy Ong is a patchwork of images, telling of the troubles people brave in relationships. Each picture relates an affecting story such as two kids separating, lovers falling apart, and a man abandoning his girl for priesthood.

The eye candy in a Chicosci video is usually frontman Miggy Chavez and in Vampire Social Club, director Wincy Ong shows people united by their love for music and who else—but Miggy.

Pure Pinoy talent seen in MYX Awards nominees

    abs-cbnNEWS.com

Filipinos are a musically gifted race. Whether as musicians, performers or songwriters, Filipinos continue to produce lasting works that run the the widest range of emotions. They are simply fluent in the language of the soul.

Precisely because there is so much musical talent around, getting established in the local music scene is very difficult. It is a very challenging and competitive field and talent alone cannot assure one of success.

With hundreds of talented bands and performers wanting to be part of the industry, only a few pass and survive the challenges of breaking into the scene to eventually make a name for themselves.

That is why the coming 2008 MYX Music Awards will showcase the best local Filipino musical talents, giving due credit to those most deserving.

This year's theme for the MYX Music Awards is "Celebrating the biggest artists and hits in Pinoy music." MYX recently held bar tours as a prelude to the actual awards to be held at the Meralco Theater on March 26.

MYX VJs Iya, Igi, Drei and Mica and six of the hottest new bands, all nominees for the music awards, went on the bar tour which was well-attended by screaming, excited fans.

The six acts that went on the bar tours included the following:

Ciudad. An indie rock act composed of Mikey Amistoso (vocals, bass, piano), Justin Sunico (guitar, vocals) and Mitch Singson (drums). The band was formed way back in 1994, when its members were still in high school. The are nominated in the Best Indie Artist category.

Callalily. Composed of Kean Cipriano (vocals), Tatsi Jamnague (guitar), Alden Acosta (guitar), Aaron Ricafrente (bass) and Lem Belaro (drums) the band quickly built up its fan base in just a few years. They are honored to be nominated alongside other great acts like Bamboo.

Silent Sanctuary. A band with a rather unique sound, composed of Anjo (cello), Chino (violin), Jett (viola), Sarkie (lead vocals and guitar), Paolo (bass), and Allen (drums). The band is nominated for the Favorite New Artist and Favorite Song categories.

Three-piece act Hilera, Chris (vocalist) and Bobby (drums) Padilla and Ivan Garcia (bass) is nominated for the Favorite Remake category.

Singer Julianne is nominated for Favorite New Artist. "Music is a language that everybody speaks but you don’t have to know how to sing or play the instrument or know anything. As long as you like what you hear, as long as you understand what you hear, it penetrates you in some way. You’re speaking the language. It’s not verbal. It’s an emotional language. It’s an experience," she said.

Another three-piece band, Reklamo is also a nominee. Its members LC de Leon (vocals and guitar), Mig Dayanghirang (bass), and Ciro de Leon (drums) still consider themselves as underdogs in the industry, although they strongly believe in their own talent and commitment to see them through their struggle to the top.

Now that the final votes for nominations were cast on March 10, here's the list of the acts that will face-off in the awards:

Favorite Music Video: Probinsyana by Bamboo; Magbalik by Callalily; Vampire Social Club by Chicosci; Sundo by Imago; and Tuliro by Sponge Cola

Song of the Year: Magsasaya by 6Cyclemind; Vampire Social Club by Chicosci; Ikaw by Sarah Geronimo; Ikaw Lamang by Silent Sanctuary; Wag Kang Umiyak by Sugarfree

Artist of the Year: 6Cyclemind; Callalily; Chicosci; Sarah Geronimo; and Sponge Cola

Favorite Male Artist: Christian Bautista; Erik Santos; Gloc 9; Janno Gibbs; and Piolo Pascual

Favorite Female Artist: Jaya; Kyla; Rachelle Ann Go; Sarah Geronimo; and Toni Gonzaga

Favorite Group: 6Cyclemind; Bamboo; Callalily; Chicosci; and Sponge Cola

Favorite Rock Video: Tatsulok by Bamboo; Vampire Social Club by Chicosci; Seksi Seksi by Kamikazee; Will You Ever Learn by Typecast; and Guillotine by Urbandub

Favorite Mellow Video: Is It Over by Jaya MMA; Love Will Lead You Back by Kyla; Only Reminds Me Of You by M.Y.M.P.; Alam ng Ating Mga Puso by Rachelle Ann Go; and Catch Me I'm Fallin' by Toni Gonzaga

Favorite Urban Video: Summertime by 7 Shots of Wisdom; Back into You by Amber Davis; Ikaw (Humanap Ka ng Pangit Part 2) by Andrew E; Like That by Billy Crawford; Lando by Gloc9 and Francis M

Meet Robert Lopez, the man currently dating Rufa Mae Quinto

Bobby Lopez works for Mattel Inc., the largest toy manufacturer in world, based in the U.S. at gumagawa ng mga sikat na laruan like Barbie, Hot Wheels at superhero action figures. Bobby works as a Senior Manager of Internal Audit in Mattel, 33 years old, and is very much single.

"I met him four years ago. ‘Tapos nagkalimutan, ‘tapos nagka-e-mail-an uli kami, ‘tapos yun na."

"Sabi niya, ‘Do I know you?'Ang sabi ko, ‘We already met in Bangkok four years ago. Then I saw you in Manila.' ‘Tapos sabi niya, ‘that was not me.'

"Sinabi ko nang I'm a Philippine actress.

With Bobby, alam niyang accepted siya nito for who she really is.

IS HE THE ONE?

"For the first time kasi, I met someone na interesting talaga. Intelektuwal, matalino, professional. He's a CPA from UCLA, talagang may utak. Talagang interesting siya, good looking pa. I want to get serious with him.

"Lalo na ngayon, may bago akong telenovela aside from my three shows sa GMA-7, I'm leaving for Europe pa para roon sa movie namin ni Jolina [Magdangal]. I'm having all these blessings at ang hirap naman kung hindi ko na naman maaasikaso kung papasok na naman ako sa relationship. Lalo na long-distance [relationship] pa kami.

"So okey na muna itong date-date lang muna kami. We're still getting to know each other and who knows, ‘di ba? Tingnan na muna natin."

    Concert ni Gerald Santos, Nilangaw!
    Written by Atty. Tonton Villamor

    Nilangaw! Puwede kayong magpatintero!

Isa pang naging asiwa, memorized na memorized nito ang kanyang spiels that makes him stiff throughout the show.

He was saved by her guest, Lovi Poe, who like him is not a biritera, but knows how to pick the right songs for her.

All in all, mukhang di professional ang nag-concert na si Gerald, kundi isang amateur.

    Beso-beso tayo!
    Written by Parazzi News Service

Beso dun, beso dito. Mag-bestfriend man, magbarkada, co-star sa isang project, first time nagkita, o kahit nagpapalastikan pa, sige beso lang sila.
