Nikki, gibuking silang Luis, Shaina ug John

Pwes, unsa kahay reaksyon nila ni Luis Manzano, Shaina Magdayao ug John Prats inig ka sayod nila nga gibuking sila ni Nikki Gil nga duna na silay mga ka relasyon?

Tsika pa ni Nikki ngadto sa Pilipino Star Ngayon nga tungod sa kataas sa bakasyon last week gitawgan niya ang iyang mga friends sa ASAP '07 aron mogimik pero wala niya makauban tungod kay, "when I called up Luis, she's with Angel (Locsin), si Shaina naman, she's with John, lahat ng friends ko kasama nila mga boyfriends and girlfriends nila, kaya nag-iisa lang ako," nagkanayon si Nikki.

World Vision to stage benefit concert for children

A group of pop singers have agreed to set aside their fat fees to stage a pre-holiday benefit concert to fund the child sponsorship program of World Vision, a Christian development relief and advocacy and non-profit, non-government organization dedicated to working with children since 1957, as it celebrates 50 years of initiating grassroots development.

Nikki Gil, Christian Bautista, Sam Concepcion and Gary Valenciano are among the artists set to perform in the “Celebrating Life” concert on Nov. 24 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) Plenary Hall.

“World Vision has already helped some 122,000 children (and their families) by supporting education, providing capacity building basically empowering communities to develop themselves as a whole. We source funding to support these worthy projects,” said David Liban Jr., direct marketing manager for World Vision.

Sponsoring a child requires only P450 a month (or P15 a day). This amount is enough to make one child’s dream of having an education come true. “World Vision would normally target around 1,500 child beneficiaries nationwide. Below that any initiative is bound to fail. This is identified by the communities we work with. Once it is done we look for sponsorship funding while benefactors fall under the wing of an existing World Vision project,” said Liban.

Once a donor has been allocated, child beneficiaries are subjected to funding. “A benefit concert supported by named artists is one way of raising money and public awareness for these projects. World Vision’s initiatives are normally grassroot-based. We follow Jesus Christ’s example to love one another, especially the children and the poor,” Liban added.

Will Nikki replace Mariel permanently as ‘Wowowee’ co-host?


While Mariel Rodriguez remains inside the "Pinoy Big Brother" house for the Celebrity Edition, it’s Nikki Gil who’s been pinchhitting for her in ABS-CBN’s noontime show, "Wowowee."

There’s a buzz that Mariel will no longer be asked to return to "Wowowee" once she goes out of the "PBB" house, because of all the negative feedback she’s been getting as a housemate.

Is it true that Nikki will be made to permanently replace Mariel in "Wowowee?" Mister Showbiz learned Nikki has been getting positive feedback from viewers and studio audience, who love her hosting job in "Wowowee." She also enjoys hosting the daily noontime show and will welcome it if she is given the chance to become one of the regular co-hosts of Willie Revillame. But will she do it at the expense of Mariel?

Nikki shouldn’t be blamed if she’ll be eventually asked to replace Mariel for good as "Wowowee" co-host. Nikki is a talented artist and has shown her mettle in hosting in "ASAP" and Myx.

Mariel, meanwhile, continues to dig her grave deeper as she makes one booboo after another inside the "PBB" house. So before her talent manager, Boy Abunda, does bigger damage control, Mariel should be asked to leave the "PBB" house immediately.

Anything about the girl, we always right for several personal reasons lalo na’t pamangkin siya ng dati naming head writer Gina Marissa Tagasa who is in ABS na.
Anyways, more than two years ago, excited siya dahil isa siya sa mga napi-li na kumanta ng Disney Channel para sa Asian version ng isa sa mga awitin ng sikat na movie na High School Musical. Nagkaroon ito ng sequel at marami na namang songs for recording at music video.

Masuwerte at deserving din naman si Nikki Gil dahil napili na naman siya para mag-record ng isa sa songs at with matching music video.  

Solo niya this time ang kantang Gotta  Go My Own Way  at  ipinalabas  sa Disney Channel last year ang music video nito pati na ang behind the scenes.

Recently, tinawagan si Nikki ng Disney Channel Asia para ibalita na ang video niya  ay mapapanood na rin sa United States of America.

Proud dito ang Star Magic dahil isa na naman sa mga artista nila ang naka-penetrate sa U.S. scene.

NIKKI ON DISNEY CHANNEL

CONGRATS to Nikki Gil, one of the regular host-singers of “ASAP.” The other year, she was chosen to sing the Asian version of one of the hit songs in the movie “High School Musical”. Last year, the movie had a sequel and some of its songs are now being recorded for an Asian version. Nikki feels very lucky as she was once again chosen to sing one of the songs in the sequel, including its music video. And not only that. Last time, she’s one of three Asian girls in the song she did. Now, she has gone solo, which means the Disney people really appreciated her first performance. Nikki is singing “Gotta Go My Own Way” and it’s now being shown in the Disney Channel, including the scenes involved in the making of the  music video. It has entered the Top Ten in 20 Pinoy Weekly Countdown of the MYX Channel. Disney Channel Asia just called up Nikki to say that her music video is now also being shown in the U.S., which means she has gone international. We hope this opens more doors for the very talented young singer-actress.

NATATAWANG itinanggi ni Nikki Gil ang balitang isa siyang tomboy. Ayon kay Nikki, ginawang basehan ng nasabing intriga ang pagiging loveless niya mula nang maghiwalay sila ni Gab Valenciano. Ngunit ayon sa singer-TV host, maging siya ay nagtataka rin kung bakit wala man lang nanliligaw sa kanya.“Aba’y baka nga tomboy ako. Kasi nagtataka din ako. Ano ba yan! Hindi naman ako super-pangit. Meanwhile, the career of another Star Magic talent, Nikki Gil, is on a roll. After singing the Asian version of a hit song in “High School Musical 1” with two other singers, she was also tapped to sing a song from the sequel, “Gotta Go On My Own”. This time, she goes solo and its music video hit the Top Ten of MYX and the Top 20 of Pinoy Weekly Countdown. Now, the video will also be seen in the States and Nikki has been tapped by Disney to sing the Asian version of another song. She’s really getting to be a Disney favorite.

Ipinalabas sa Disney Channel last year ang music video nito at ang behind the scenes ng MTV.
   
Matatandaang ang kanta ay nag-Top 10 sa MYX at pumasok din sa Top 20 Pinoy Weekly Countdown.

Isa na namang Filipino singer ang nagbigay karangalan sa bansa. Dumayo si Nikki Gil sa Hong Kong Disneyland matapos mapili ng Disney para awitin ang unang bersyon sa Tagalog ng isa nilang theme song.

Singer performs in HK Disneyland

YOUNG talented singer Nikki Gil visited Hong Kong Disneyland as she was chosen to sing the first ever Filipino version of one of the theme songs of Disney.

In a television interview last Tuesday, Nikki had a footage singing the Filipino version of “It’s a Small World”, which is a popular Disney theme song.

Nikki performed together with other famous pop superstars in Asia.

The Filipino, Cantonese, Mandarin and Korean language were all combined in one of a kind version of the song.

The singer not just sang the song for no reason but the Asian singers were invited for the purpose of launching the newest attraction in the amusement park called “It’s a Small World”.

It featured the “bahay-kubo (nipa house)”, which is a native Filipino house and also a symbolism of the typical living of the Filipino people.

Nikki said he felt so fortunate and delighted that even in simple ways she had added pride to the good image of the country.

“It’s for me to have been able to record in Filipino, it’s a different feeling. It’s given me an opportunity to represent our country in a good way. And I am very proud that we -- the Philippines -- we are represented in this global concept,” she said.

It is not the first time for the singer to work with Disney. Nikki previously recorded two albums with “High School Musical”. (JRDB/Sunnex)

Nikki Gil bares heart in new album

Multi-media performer Nikki Gil is excited about her new album.

Her optimism comes from the fact that her new CD "Hear My Heart" contains songs that would reveal the real Nikki.

 

Released by EMI Philippines, Nikki’s follow-up to her self-titled debut featuring the hit song "Sakayan Ng Jeep" is proof that she’s one of the brightest stars in the recording scene.

 

"I’m more emotionally attached to this album as opposed to the first," Nikki told reporters in a press chat held at Discovery Suites, Ortigas a few days back.

 

She added, "Hear My Heart" should project a more real me and hopefully strike a stronger bond between me and my listeners."

 

The 12-track album, to be launched on May 24 at Trinoma Park, 4th level, boast the original composition "Friday" as well as "Gotta Go My Own Way," her sugary version of that Platinum record from the High School Musical 2 OST. The rest of the lot is revivals given justice by Nikki’s heartfelt vocals.

 

The list includes "If You’re Not The One" (Daniel Bedingfield), "So Much In Love" (Sheena Easton), "Buses and Trains" (Bachelor Girl), "Let Me Be The One" (The Carpenters), "I Just Want To Be Your Everything" (Andy Gibb), "When Did You Fall In Love With Me" (Chris Rice), "On My Knees’ (Jackie Velasquez), "Don’t Let Me Be Lonely Tonight" (James Taylor) and the lovely "Million Miles" (Joey Albert).

 

"I’ve always wanted to come out with an album that is piano-driven. That dream has come true as you will hear in many of the songs here," revealed the morena beauty who admires international star Alicia Keys so much she got inspired to try her hand at songwriting.

 

"If you’re positive, you’ll attract positive circumstances. If still things don’t go your way, just enjoy the ride," said Nikki, a renewed Christian.

Heart sore at Nikki?

IS it true Heart Evangelista is sore at Nikki Gil who replaced her as Sunsilk endorser? “I don’t really know what happened to that at hindi ko na rin inalam ang back story,” says Nikki at the launching of her new album, “Nikki Gil: Hear My Heart.”  
    
“Basta Unilever called me to endorse the product and I believe in it so I accepted it. Heart and I saw each other later in Boracay and okay naman kami. It was never brought up.”
   
The last time we talked to her, she admitted being wooed by Geoff Eigenmann. Did they ever go steady? “No, let’s just say we’re better off as friends. Ganyan talaga ang tadhana kasi we’re both busy naman. He’s in ‘Lobo’ and I’m with Maricel Soriano in ‘Florinda’ where I play my most dramatic role so far as a battered child. I’m also in my last year at the Ateneo, majoring in English lit and I have to finish my thesis which is about fostering reading aware ness. Tapos, busy pa ako with my new album sa EMI, so better na ring wala munang lovelife.”
   
Nikki continues to co-host “ASAP” and do VJ work for MYX. She also just returned from Hong Kong where she represented the  country in the opening of the It’s a Small World ride in Disneyland. “It’s my third stint with Disney after I helped promote ‘High School Musical 1 and 2’ with them. VIP treatment talaga kami ng other Asian stars na kasama ko in Hong Kong. We were spoiled and I felt like a real star. Sabi ko nga, aba, I can get used to this. Ibang-iba ang treatment nila at alagang-alaga ako. I even stayed in a hotel suite. Five days ako roon attending rehearsals, presscons and the actual performance. I hope it opens doors for me to do other projects abroad.”
   
She’s very proud of her new album. She herself wrote the lyrics for the title song about unrequited love, “Hear My Heart,”  with her younger sister Danela doing the music. The LP has 12 cuts. Aside from “Hear My Heart,”  the other original song is “Friday” (also from Danela) and the rest are covers: “If You’re Not The One” (Daniel Beddingfield), “So Much In Love” (Sheena Easton), “Buses and Trains” (Bachelor Girl), “Let Me Be The One” (The Carpenters), “I Just Want To Be Your Everything” (Andy Gibb), “When Did You Fall In Love With Me” (Chris Rice), “On My Knees” (Jackie Velasquez), “Don’t Let Me Be Lonely Tonight” (James Taylor) and “Million Miles” (Joey Albert).  It’ll be officially launched on May 24 at Trinoma Mall, 6 p.m.
   
“Two years in the making ang album at mas hands-on in choosing the songs and in the production, pati sa photos on the jacket. I want it all to show that I grew up and am now more mature. I hope it strikes a stronger connection between me and the listeners.”

Nikki: No time for love

NIKKI Gil ought to be called a role model because she was able to combine studies and showbusiness. As we are all aware of, most of our young television stars are undergraduates   if not dropouts and we doubt if they even bother to read newspapers to find out what is happening to our economy. It is because of this that we admire Nikki who also finds time to read a book and we don’t mean romance stories.
    
It wasn’t easy, Nikki  tells us. In the first place  she was allowed to enter showbiz provided she will not abandon her studies at the Ateneo de Manila.
   
"In the beginning, it was hard especially when you lack sleep due to taping and then proceed to school. What made it easy for me is the fact that I really value education. It is good foundation for whatever plans you have in the future. I also enjoy reading books which some find nerdy. I always bring with me a good book and in the process of waiting, scan the pages and read,"  she says.
   
As a recording artist, Nikki signed up with EMI Phils. in 2005. Her debut album, the self-titled, Nikki, featured "Sakayan ng Jeep" composed by Bodjie Dasig and recorded by Lani Misalucha in the 90s. The CD was  repackaged in time for Valentine’s Day and the cut Glowing Inside was even used in a shampoo commercial.
   
It was also in 2006 that EMI Phils. and Walt Disney Records introduced her to be one of the Asian artists to sing and star in the music video of Disney Channel’s original movie, High School Musical’s theme song, Breaking Free. Nikki joined Vince Chong of Malaysia and Alicia Pan in the spirited song for the Asian version.
   
A second album, entitled Hear My heart, has been released this week with the title track (co-written by Nikki and her sister Daniela Gil) as the album’s first single.
   
Nikki shares: "It is a song about unrequited love, an emotion most of us have experienced at some points in our lives. It is about bringing friendship to the next level but the love of your life does not seem to get it. It’s that awkward, uneasy feeling of wanting to be loved back, but you’re not getting a vibe of encouragement, so you just run away from that persons smile and touch— the very reason why you fall for that person in the first place."
   
A favorite cut of Nikki in the album is  Friday, a mid-tempo and very R&B song. She calls it a family affair because it was arranged by her uncle Dan Gil of Chillitees.
   
Has Nikki found a new love after a failed relationship with Gabby Valenciano?
   
"There is no one in my life now in particular but there are admirers. It is nice to be told by them how special you are, that they care and willing to wait. Any woman would if she happens to be an incurable romantic."
