WHY MAKISIG HAS TO WORK HARDER

WE  WERE surprised with some of the questions that other writers asked child actor Makisig Morales. First, they wanted to find out if he’s already circumcised. Then they wanted to know if he’s really courting kiddie actress Kathryn Bernardo when he’s only 11 years old.

Makisig gamely answered these questions. He said he’s scared to be circumcised as he heard it can be very painful. But he wasn’t able to do so primarily because he’s so busy doing one show after another. He shot the comedy “Supah Papalicious” that opens on Black Saturday then he also started shooting “Caregiver” with Sharon Cuneta and they will leave for location shooting in London by April and they will shoot their for three weeks. He also has a new TV show with Dolphy, “Utoy”, based on the Pinocchio fairy tale.

Because he works hard, he was able to buy a house and lot for his parents and six siblings (their eldest is only 13) in San Mateo, Rizal, and two cars, a Nissan and a Starex van. Now, his mom is pregnant again and since there will be a new addition in their family, we guess Makisig will have to work even harder.

As for Kathryn, he admits wooing her. Last Valentine’s Day, he sent her chocolate and roses. He also sends her text messages when he’s not busy.         Since he’ll be a teenager in two years and given the kind of environment he’s thriving in showbiz where young kids are urged to get into romantic relationships at a very young age, we hope Makisig won’t give his parents a granchild soon.

Makisig feels very lucky to work with Vhong Navarro in “Supah Papalicious”, his very first full length film.”Idol ko po talaga siya at talagang marami akong natutuhan sa kanya tungkol sa pagpa-patawa ng tao,” he adds.

Ayaw na ayaw masabi ni Makisig Morales na siya ang cause of delay ng pag-alis ni megastar Sharon Cuneta for London, para gawin ang movie niya for Star Cinema na idinidirek ni Chito Roño.

For celebrities, Holy Week is best time to unwind

    By REYMA BUAN-DEVEZA

For many celebrities, Holy Week offers a much-needed break from the stress and chaos that come with fame.

They consider it the best time to relax and enjoy, be with friends, loved ones and family.

    PRAY AND DON'T SIN

For child star Makisig Morales, who plays a character in ABS-CBN's "Super Inggo, Holy Week means a vacation with his family, plus a time to remember the suffering of the Lord through masses and prayers.

"Kailangan po inaalala ang paghihirap ni Lord. Tapos po, lagi pong magpi-pray, tapos lagi din pong magsisimba," he said.

Makisig encouraged other children to always pray and not to commit sins.

AS expected, dumating ang dalawang anak ni Vhong — sina Isiah at Bruno — sa preview with Desiree del Valle in tow.

Pinakamarami siyang bisita sa preview among the members of the cast ng Supah Papalicious.

Well, keep up the good work, Valerie and Makisig!

    Huwag ka munang magpatule, Makisig!
    Alfie Lorenzo

Ay, utang na loob! Huwag muna, Makisig!

Huwag mo silang pakinggan!

Please lang, a little sacrifice muna for your family, ha, apo!
    Huwag ka munang magpapatule, Makisig!

Pag nagpatule ka, bigla kang lalaki (ay, of course, lalaki ka, apo ko!), what I mean is, you will suddenly grow up, you'll gain height, lalo na sa asta mo na mukhang tatangkad ka nang husto gawa ng thin bones mo.

You very well know you're a popular child actor. What if bigla kang tumaas, makukunsidera ka pa bang child -- kundi isa nang binatilyo?

Hayun, bigla nang magda-drop ang career mo dahil you will enter the age na alanganing bata, alanganing binata. Mawawalan ka ng offers.

And since you're a popular child actor -- laos ka na paglaki mo!

Andyan ang living proof, Makisig. Sikat na child actor si Patrick Garcia who won a best actor award in his youth. Hayan at pagka-girlfriend niya, mas sikat pa siya bilang casino-goer at nambuntis kesa may ginagawa ba siyang TV show o pelikula?

Listen! If you don't, bahala ka sa buhay mo!

I am KC" nga nag-ulohan og Times Up! nga malantawan karong April 12.

"Dapat talaga panoorin ang Time's Up.

    Written by Eddie Littlefield
    Wednesday, 02 April 2008

Hahaha!

Young actor links up with Sharon and KC

    By: Aster Amoyo

    If I Know

HOW lucky can singer-turned child actor Ma-kisig Morales get!  He gets the chance to work with megastar Sharon Cuneta in the latter’s movie under Star Cinema, “Caregiver” and with showbiz princess KC Concepcion in one of her four-part birthday special episodes on ABS-CBN, “Time’s Up”.

Pareho po silang mabait at magaling,” a thrilled young Makisig said at the recent presscon of KC’s “I Am KC”.

Although Makisig was discovered from a reality-based singing search for kids, he  also  dabble as a child actor after he was launched in the fantaserye, “Super Inggo” on ABS-CBN.

“Singing po talaga ang first love ko pero gusto ko rin pong umarte,” he innocently admits.

With his non-stop projects under ABS-CBN and Star Cinema, Makisig is now contributing a lot to his family’s expenses.

Child stars honor their moms on special day

    By REYMA BUAN-DEVEZA
    abs-cbnNEWS.com

Just like ordinary kids, child celebrities also consider Mother's Day a very important occasion. They all want  to show that special woman in their lives just how much she is loved.

Child star Makisig Morales said he is very fortunate to have a mother who takes good care of him. Makisig said that his most memorable moment with his mother was when he won on ABS-CBN’s “Little Big Star” talent search.

Makisig said he will definitely find the time and the means to surprise her mother for this very special day. He said he will be giving his mom a card he personally made.

Makisig Morales plays a spoiled brat in the "That’s My Doc" episode this Saturday. His father, a mayor, entrusts him to Aga Muhlach, who plays a pediatrician. He wants Doc Aga to discipline his son.

Makisig, as Mac Mac, together with the young kids in Barangay Tabuneknek, is taught how to do household chores. Makisig, at first, resists.

Jairus, Butching, Sofia and Bronson try to be good playmates to Makisig. Makisig ignores them, until he discovers how good friends they can be.

"That’s My Doc" is topbilled by Aga. Also in the sitcom are Bayani Agbayani, Roderick Paulate, Pokwang and Nova Villa.

Makisig dreams of reunion with Sam & Charice

    By REYMA BUAN DEVEZA
    abs-cbnNEWS.com

Child star Makisig Morales is very happy for his two fellow "Little Big Star" alumni Charice Pempengco and Sam Concepcion. Charice and Sam have both earned international acclaim and Makisig said he's would like to have a reunion.

The young actor also wishes that the three of them would be able to record an album together, like they did in the "Little Big Deeds" album produced by Star Records.

Makisig became a household name after he starred in the popular "Super Inggo" TV series but started as a virtual unknown in 2005, when he became a contestant in the 2005 kiddie talent search "The Little Big Star" on ABS-CBN.

Makisig won second place in the show's ‘Little Division’ while Charice bagged third place. Concepcion was the champion for the ‘Big Division.’

Makisig said he was surprised when he heard the news that his "kuya" Sam was chosen to sing the theme song “Kung Fu Fighting” for the Philippine edition of Dreamworks-United International Pictures release.

Kaya kuya Sam pagpatuloy mo yan congtrats at goodluck din," he told abs-cbnNEWS.com

And for Charice, who wowed US and British audience with her amazing singing talent, Makisig had this message: "Kay ate Charice ang bait po sobrang bait niyan talaga. Ate Charice more power  to you at saka pa-regards ako kay Oprah."

Last May 12, Oprah aired their special episode with Charice, once again Charice wowed and charmed US audience. Oprah also asked Charice to guest in her show again to promote her album entitled “Charice.”

Makisg said he feels honored and grateful that he was able to work with the two child stars who are making waves abroad.

"Masayang masaya po ako nagpapasalamat ako na nakasama ko ang mga kilala at mga sikat," he said.

CHILD actor Makisig Morales is the third in a brood of nine. His eldest brother, Vincent, is 12 years old. Mayumi, the second and eldest girl in the family, is 11.

"Ten years old naman ako," Makisig said. "Nine years old ang sumunod sa akin na si Magiting."

His other siblings are Maaya, Maliksi, Marikit, Mahinhin and Malambing."

How come his parents named him Makisig? Does he know what Makisig means?

So, he presumed that I would grow up good-looking.

"As you can see," he joked. "Hindi siya nagkamali."

Makisig revealed that it was his father’s idea to give them names that are purely Filipino-sounding. Too bad, he said, that when his father made this decision, he had already given his eldest brother the name Vincent.

Honestly, we asked Makisig, how does he feel about his name?

"Proud," he answered. "Kasi, Pilipinong Pilipino. Well, ‘yon na," he beamed.

Before the presscon of his new movie, "Caregiver" with Sharon Cuneta playing the title role, Makisig was running after his two-year-old sister Marikit. She was all over the venue, which was the Studio One in the ABS-CBN Building.

Does he always do this (meaning run after a younger sister)?

"Yes, I love playing with my siblings. Especially the younger ones," Makisig replied.

In their three-bedroom house in San Mateo, Rizal, a gift from Asiaque Globe, Makisig could have requested, if not demanded, his own bedroom. But he chose to share his room with his brothers. The other room is occupied by his two elder sisters. The master’s bedroom is shared by his parents with the three younger girls.

In "Caregiver," Makisig plays a problem child. He resented his mom, an internet bride, when she started neglecting him, when she, along with him, joined her British husband in London.

His resentment towards his mom worsened when she gave birth to a new baby.

"Ito ang dahilan why I became close to Tita Sharon," said Makisig. "And I feel so honored performing with her. She’s not just a good actress. Napakabait pa rin niya.

"She treated me as though I am her son. She also thought me how to go about my role."

"Makisig’s role is challenging," stated Direk Chito Roño, director of "Caregiver." "But I’d say that he lived up to the challenge. I agree that Sharon was really a big help to him and to her other co-stars."

Makisig is not the only child actor featured in "Caregiver." John Manalo has an equally prominent role in the movie as Sharon’s son.

John, 11, is a nephew of actor Jericho Rosales.

    ***

Filmed almost entirety in London, the film, produced by Star Cinema, is about the plight of OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers), particularly, caregivers, abroad.

"It’s a moving story," declared Sharon of the movie. "While I was doing ‘Caregiver,’ I developed a new perspective about OFWs. I respect and admire them even more. I realized through first-hand experience what sacrifices they have to go through and what hardships they have to suffer for them to give their families a good life back home."
