                         we are a tfc subscriber here in Canada,and eversince we saw sam concepcion on tv, he immedietly captured our hearts but rescently we dont  get to see him anymore, so we would like to request more sam concepcion projects, sana a drama soap or teleserye because he was good in his role as a young piolo in walang kapalit and he can be another piolo in the making cause he can sing and act and gwapo just like piolo so please sana magkaroon din sya ng soap, we miss him already dati we use to watch asap because of him pero ngayon di na kami nanonood kasi wala si sam concepcion,gumaganda ang araw namin pag nakikita namin sya sa tv kasi very refreshing ang cute nyang smile.WE WANT MORE OF SAM CONCEPCION PLEASE

Sam Concepcion returns to theater

LOOKING at talented kids hogging the limelight can be really amazing. They are cute, and if they are talented, it even makes you feel doubly better. This young man, Sam Concepcion, is one.

Living with a musically and artistically inclined family, Sam was exposed to theater arts at a very young age. He embraced, loved and joined plays at the age of nine. Sam enrolled at Trumpets Playshop to develop his skills in singing, dancing and acting, which prepared him to be a total performer.

The lessons he learned in Playshop geared him to win the “Brightest Star” award in ABS-CBN’s singing contest Little Big Superstar season one. Since then, Sam released albums and appeared in various TV shows. But playing the young Pinoy superhero “Boy Bawang” in Super Inggo established his popularity.

But despite Sam’s success, he never neglected his studies by doing home school; and this coming schoolyear, he will be an incoming sophomore. Sam is also a self-proclaimed Christian and because of his genuine qualities, he was tagged as kids’ perfect example. Young and old fans just can’t get enough of this talented boy. He was definitely in-demand! And because of his very busy life, Sam had less time for theater.

Like reunited lovers, Sam comes back to his very first love, to theater plays, via Disney’s hit High School Musical. “I love acting on stage because it helps me discipline myself,” Sam states. For this play, he has to practice not just the songs, not just the dance steps but also his basketball skills to effectively give life to the lead male character, Troy Bolton. They rehearse six days a week, five hours a day to perfect each scene. “In theater, you must show big actions, but in TV, it’s ok to give smaller actions. That’s why I love theater.” Sam compares.

High School Musical is a big hit not only in America but most especially in Asia; and Sam is more than proud to be part of it. Almost 300 teens auditioned for this musical but Audie Gemora, director and producer of this play, admits that High School Musical is a Sam Concepcion project.

It looks like Sam is just enough to sell out the tickets!

But take note that 50 young and promising theater performers will help Sam execute an unforgettable theater experience. This play is also Sam’s teenage debut in theater and will reunite him with his old friends; for almost 90 percent of the cast are Playshoppers themselves.

Comparison between America’s version of the play and Philippines’ version of the musical is inevitable. The TV movie may be a blockbuster but the play is intense! “With this musical, I smell a hit!” Audie believes. “I have so much faith in HSM’s young, vibrant cast,” he adds. Besides, Sam Concepcion is singing all the compositions live! Unlike Zac Efron (Troy Bolton of America) who lip-sings all the songs and the duets! So, what’s there to compare?

Cheska Ortega, who plays the female lead Gabriella Montez, is said to have a stage kiss with Sam. No wonder she decided to cut her US vacation just to be a part of the musical. So will the 14-year-old heartthrob finally have his first smack? Well, you must watch High School Musical which will run every weekend from June 23 to July 15 at the Meralco Theater to find out.

Teen star Sam Concepcion is too young at 14 to be seriously in love but, for his role as Troy Bolton in Disney’s "High School Musical," which starts its regular run today, he had to learn how to feel so in love with his leading lady, the equally talented Cheska Ortega, also 14, who plays Gabriella Montez.

"It’s all make believe, but with the help of director Audie Gemora, I’m sure we’ll both able to convince the audience that we’re desperately in love with each other. When the right time comes, though, I’ll willingly fall in love with the right girl. As of now, I’m just happy with my family and friends," he says.

The show has more than 40 vibrant teen alumni of Trumpets’ Playshop classes to make "High School Musical" the year’s most exuberant theater event. "I have learned how to love my leading lady (Cheska Ortega, who plays Gabriella Montez)," says TV personality Sam Concepcion when asked how a 14-year-old like him copes with the demands of his newest stage assignment – playing romantic lead Troy Bolton in STAGES and Trumpet’s Playshop’s production of Disney’s "High School Musical," which goes onstage at the Meralco Theater from June 23- July 15.

He adds, "with the direction and guidance of our director, Audie Gemora, I realized that it is not so hard to fall in love, after all."

This teen heartthrob, however, admits that he is still too young to truly fall in love. "When the right time and the right girl come my way, I would gladly let myself fall, but for now, I am happy with my work, friends, and family."

More than the love angle in "High School Musical," Sam shares the other important themes that the musical tackle- love for family, friends, and one’s willingness to make a change for the better.

Sam describes the show as a fun, hip show with eminent lessons to impart. "It is full of youthful vibe, but I am sure parents will also appreciate it because, after all, who would ever forget their High School lives? It is a show meant to be enjoyed by everyone."

With more than 40 immensely talented teenagers in the cast, a young and dynamic artistic team, and an inspired direction from musical theatre royalty Audie Gemora, "High School Musical" is expected to be this season’s most celebrated stage offering.

"If you watch us onstage, you would immediately see the cast’s rapport because we are all, first and foremost, friends," shares Sam. "Almost all of us grew up together in our previous Playshop classes and STAGES projects."

In fact, almost all members of the cast are alumni of Playshop, which serves as a source of pride and inspiration to Gemora, who’s the brains behind the setting up of Trumpets.

Sam is joined by, aside from Cheska, Alex Godinez, PJ Valerio, Seve Ching, Kakki Teodoro, Steph Cuevas, Jackie Dos Santos, Abbie Aranda, Danielle Miranda, Janina Chan, among others. World-renowned theater actress Sheila Francisco, who recently received critical acclaims for playing Bloody Mary in "South Pacific" staging in London, is playing Mrs. Darbus, while veteran thespian Jeff Arcilla is HSM’s Coach Bolton.

"It is so nice to be back onstage," concedes Sam, who was last seen in a musical in Trumpet’s "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" three years ago. "The excitement in theatre is really different. The audience’s feedback is instant."

Sam, who is one of the few actors who can crossover to theater and television with so much ease, adds, "doing television is also very different. With TV, I get to be connected with a considerably larger audience. I am happy that I am being given this chance to perform in both avenues."

After more than a year after he was named Brightest Star in the ABS-CBN hit kiddie singing search Little Big Star, Sam has already figured in numerous TV assignments like being part of ABS-CBN’s "Super Inggo," where he played Boy Bawang, "Walang Kapalit," "Beck," "Little Big Star Season 2," "Y Speak," "ASAP," "Your Song," among others.

He also received numerous awards, most notable of which is the Pinoy Wannabe Award from Nickelodeon last year.

"I could not ask for more, so if they say that I am still too young for love, it’s ok," enthuses Sam. "At least, I am not too young to enjoy my life, because I do and I am very thankful."

Sam Conception, 14, winner of "Little Big Star," a talent search for young singing talents on ABS-CBN, has proven that he really has what it takes to be a star. He is a standout in the current staging of Disney’s "High School Musical." We were privileged to watch it at the Meralco Theater last June 22.

The theater was filled to the rafters that night. The audience was made up of mostly young people, ages ranging from five to 15, and chaperoned by their elders. Most everyone were unanimous in saying that Sam did justice to his role as the "basketball jock-turned-thespian" Troy Bolton. Trumpets’ Playshop, where he has trained for many years, has truly helped him become an effective and sensitive actor.

Sam was especially admirable in his confrontation scene with his dad, played by theater actor Jeff Arcilla. For someone who is not yet ready to fall in love, he was believable as a young boy who developed special rapport with a girl his age, portrayed by Cheska Ortega, who plays Gabriela Montez.

Sam and Cheska’s engaging duet of the love song, "When There Was Me and You," really touched the audience’s hearts.

Actually, all 40 members of the cast did their job well, thanks to the able direction of Audie Gemora, popularly known as a musical theater icon.

The production staff also included Mio Infante, set design, and Chinie Nepomuceno and Alfred Luason.

A production of STAGES and Trumpets Playshop, "High School Musical," will be played at the Meralco Theater weekends until July 15.

Base sa naglabasang feedbacks sa musical play na High School Musical na on going pa rin sa Meralco Theater ‘til July 15 ay iniintriga ang magkaibigang sina Sam Concepcion at PJ Valerio dahil mas mahusay daw ang huli.

Mas nagampanan daw ng mahusay ni PJ ang role niya kumpara kay Sam bilang lead role.

“Opinion po ‘yun ng ibang nakapanood, ako po, I just did what is best for me at kung napansin po, salamat, but I have no intention na lampasan o talunin si Sam, he’s a good friend of mine,” pa-humble na sabi ni PJ nang makatsikahan namin.

Samantala, muli naming itinanong ang binatilyo kung bati na ba sila ni Rhian Ra­mos, ang babaing naka-date niya pero idininay naman siya.

“Galit po siya sa akin at nirerespeto ko po na hindi na kami nag-uusap.  Okey lang po, naka-move on na ako,” esplika ni PJ.

At dahil on-going pa ang High School Musical ay balak ba niyang im­bitahan ang pamangkin ni Ms. Yda Henares?

“Hindi po siguro kasi tiyak na hindi naman niya ako papansinin,” mabilis na say ng bina­tilyo.

Tinawagan kami ng kampo ni Sam Concepcion tungkol sa sinulat namin kahapon dito sa PSN na tinalbugan siya ni PJ Valerio sa musical play na High School Musical na kasalu­kuyang palabas pa sa Meralco Theater.

Ayon mismo sa kam­po ni Sam, “Da­pat wa­lang ganun dahil mag­kaiba naman sila ng roles at saka hindi na­man na­kasayaw ng maigi si PJ, awk­ward nga siyang tingnan sa stage, eh.

“Sam is only 14 years old kaya hindi pa totally developed ang body niya, but he sings, act and dances well than PJ.”

Nabanggit din na ka­muntikan pa nga raw tanggalin na si PJ sa nasa­bing musical play dahil parati siyang cause of delay sa rehearsals at hirap minsan makakuha ng instructions.

Kaloka, may silent war pala bet­ween Sam and PJ camps?

“Sana hindi na lang sumagot si PJ ng I did my best, para kasing inamin niyang to­toong mas maga­ling nga siya kay Sam,” katwiran uli sa amin ng nagpapaliwanag na hala­tang iritable.

Anyway, isa sa mga araw na ito ay ilo-launch ni Sam ang latest album niya under Uni­versal Records na may titulong “Sam Con­cep­cion” at ni-revive niya ang “Happy” ni Michael Jack­son, at ang car­rier song niya ay “Even If” ori­ginal by Jam Mo­rales.

Puno ang Meralco Theater nang manood kami ng Disney’s High School Musical (On Stage!) last weekend.

Puro sosi kids ang kasabay naming nanood ng show na hango sa original Disney TV movie na naging phenomenal hit nu’ng 2006.

Hindi namin napanood ang High School Musical sa Disney Channel pero nag-enjoy kami sa stage adaptation na ginawa ng Stages at Trumpets Playshop.

No offense kay Sam Concepcion pero nagsisinungaling kami ‘pag sinabi naming bagay sa kanya ang role ng bidang si Troy Bolton, ang ‘basketball jock-turned-singer’ na main star ng HSM.

Bukod sa katorse anyos lang si Sam ay napakapayat niya at hindi siya ganu’n katangkad kaya hindi siya kapani-paniwala bilang campus jock at captain ng basketball team.

Okey siyang umarte at perfect ang kanyang English pero ang boses niya ay masyadong matinis, na tipikal sa isang nagbibinata. Hindi maitago ang pagiging bagito ni Sam sa kanyang biggest stage exposure.

Pero hindi kasalanan ‘yon ni Sam na siya ang napili ng Stages para sa lead role dahil siya ang pinaka-hot na young performer ngayon sa theater scene at siya lang ang kayang magdala ng sarili niyang show.

Gandang-ganda kami sa mukha at sa boses ng kapareha niyang bagets na si Cheska Ortega (pamangkin ng producer na si Kitchie Benedicto) bilang female lead na si Gabriella Montez. Paborito namin ang duet numbers nilang When There Was Me and You, I Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, What I’ve Been Looking For at Breaking Free.

Agaw-eksena si Alex Godinez (pamangkin ni Martin Nievera) bilang mean girl na si Sharpay Evans.

Bagay na bagay sa baguhang young actor na si PJ Valerio ang role niya bilang sunud-sunurang twin brother ng bratinellang si Sharpay na si Ryan Evans.

Parehong magaling kumanta at sumayaw sina Alex at PJ kaya swak sila sa kanilang mga role. Bukod doon ay tama ang edad nila (18 y/o si Alex at 17 y/o si PJ) sa kanilang mga karakter kaya silang dalawa ang nag-standout sa show.

Isa pang asset ng production ay ang beterana ng entablado na si Sheila Francisco bilang drama club teacher na si Mrs. Darbus. Effortless ang napakahusay na si Sheila, na minsan nang nakatrabaho sa London stage si Dame Judi Dench.

Hanga kami sa young cast ng High School Musical (On Stage!) dahil sa edad nilang ‘yon (14 to 20 y/o, na karamihan ay nagmula sa IS, Ateneo at iba pang exclusive schools) ay ang gagaling na nilang mag-perform sa teatro, pero mas bilib kami sa tiyaga at pasensiya ng direktor nito na si Audie Gemora na disiplinahin ang apatnapung bagets sa cast.

Tinaguriang ‘Grease of the iPod generation’ ang Disney’s High School Musical. Paglabas namin ng Meralco Theater ay tumutugtog pa rin sa tenga namin ang upbeat na We’re All in This Together, itsura ng nakaiindak na We Go Together ng Grease.

Dapat ay hanggang Hulyo 15 lang ang HSM (On Stage!) pero dahil palaging soldout ang shows ay extended ito hanggang Hulyo 21 at 22.
