Super Inggo tours the world

When Makisig Morales failed to bag the Brightest Star title on ABS-CBN singing search Little Big Star, he lost not just the P1-M grand prize, but also the chance to go to his dream vacation spot, Hong Kong Disneyland.

With the success of his superserye Super Inggo, however, ABS-CBN executives planned to bring the  child star to Hong Kong for the taping of the finale episode of the series. But luck was not on his side because the trip was canceled due to time constraints.

"More than the Little Big Star grand prize, I was more thrilled about the Hong Kong Disneyland package, but I lost. Then, I got excited again when Super Inggo people told me that we might shoot the finale episode in Hong Kong," says Makisig in Filipino. "When the plan was canceled, I just hoped there would be a next time."

True enough, only a few weeks after Super Inggo ended its first season, Makisig was swamped with offers to perform abroad.

Last June, Makisig left for Singapore to do his first international gig at the Kapamilya Independence Day tour of The Filipino Channel (TFC).

"I was so excited to go to a foreign land," he says. "Ang galing! It was something new to me. You felt that you were away from the Philippines and yet parang nasa Pilipinas ka pa rin."

Even if it was only his first time to be in that country, Makisig got a very warm reception from the audience. Some even called him Budong/Super Inggo,  proof that, indeed, the superserye has caught the fancy of Filipinos worldwide.

Makisig also had the chance to have a three-city-tour of the US from July to August. He performed in California, San Francisco, and Washington with other kapamilya stars like Yeng Constantino and Anne Curtis, among others.

Makisig, who first caught the public's eye on Little Big Star as a kid singer, dished out songs like Breaking Up is Hard To Do, a single from his album Mak and the Dudes, to the audience's delight.

"I am happy to see that TFC subscribers enjoy what I do," Makisig admits. "But, the best thing about my trip to the US is that I was given the chance to visit new places with my Daddy Jong."

Makisig is joined by his father in almost all his showbiz commitments.

"Makisig enjoyed the trip because he had a blast performing for the TFC subscribers and having his photo taken in tourist spots in the US like the White House and the Lincoln State Building," admits Daddy Jong. "We also had time to bond in the States. Makisig also had time to rest."

Aside from his live shows abroad, Makisig also made waves in the TV industry worldwide when Super Inggo was named semi-finalist in the 2007 International Emmy Awards, the most prestigious TV award-giving body in the world.

"Astig talaga," Makisig excitedly says. "I am really proud of our show. I hope we will again win next year."

Makisig was also named by Nickelodeon as the country's Big Help ambassador, who frontlines the channel's campaign to instill the virtue of sharing to his fellow kids.

This month, Makisig and the whole cast and crew of the Sharon Cuneta starrer, London Caregiver, are set to leave for London to shoot parts of the movie. The Star Cinema production has multi-awarded director Chito Roño at the helm.

"It is a dream come true for me to do a movie with Tita Sharon and direk Chito," says Makisig. "I owe everything to Super Inggo and ABS-CBN. I am thankful that they have faith in me."  

Undeniably, Super Inggo, which highlights a boy's love for his mother, had a strong impact not only on Makisig's life, but also on young fans of the show.

Acknowledging this, ABS-CBN is bringing the series back with Super Inggo 1.5: Ang Bagong Bangis, which will premiere in November on ABS-CBN.

"I hope our show will still get a good reception. Who knows, I might finally make it to Hong Kong Disneyland."

Makisig, wala masuya ni Jairus

Giintriga  kagahapon sa presscon sa "Super Inggo 1.5, Ang Bagong Bangis" ang bida nga si Makisig Morales kalabot sa tsika nga nasuya siya sa iyang amigo nga si Jairus Aquino, ang bata nga Lastikman kay mas daghan kini og show kay niya.

 "Hindi po, kasi pareho lang naman kami ng kalagayan," niya pa.

Pero pasabot sa usa ka reporter ngadto sa Pilipino Star Ngayon, dili angay ma-insecure si Makisig tungod kay tulo ka movies ang naglinya para niya, usa na niini ang ‘London Caregiver" kauban si Megastar Sharon Cuneta.

Si Jairus pud, after Lastikman dunay "Kungfu Kids" nga hayan next year pa sugdan.

Samtang sa November 3 na magsugod ang Super Inggo 1.5, hulip sa Pedro Penduko at ang mga Engkantaos, nga mulungtad og unom ka semana, matag Sabado lang.

Human niini, musunod ang Super Inggo 2.0 nga sa primetime na makita. Na ingon niini ang sitwasyon tungod kay wala pay bakante nga oras sa primetime, pagkakaron.

Pag-alis for London, di matuluy-tuloy

NAKU, ha, mukhang nalilito na si Makisig Morales tungkol sa schedule ng kanyang pag-alis for London para sa filming of his supposed first movie with Sharon Cuneta, Caregiver in London.

Excited pa naman ang bagets.

In any case, sa isang presscon na kasama siya, binanggit ni Makisig na September ang alis nila for London. Obviously, hindi ito natuloy.

Kaya, mabuti na lang at napasama siya sa cast ng Pedro Penduko at ang Mga Engkantao, kahit pa na-postpone ang trip, at least, may ginagawa siya.

Add to this the fact that he also left for the U.S. for a concert.

’Di ba, sa U.S. pa nga niya binili ang ipinagmamalaking leather jacket na suot niya noong nabanggit na presscon?

In an impromptu presscon, it was Sharon who mentioned na postponed for October ang trip nila for London.

But by then, napangalanan na ang iba pang members ng cast, bukod nga sa no less than si Direk Chito Roño ang mamamahala ng pelikula.

Bukod kina Sharon at Makisig, nasa cast din sina John Estrada, Jhong Hilario at Jodi Santamaria.

Makisig happy with return of 'Super Inggo'

Child actor and singer Makising Morales is excited about the return of his superhero character "Super Inggo" in the second season of the hit TV series.

"I'm very, very happy because for me it's a reunion for all the cast of Super Inggo. Everybody is back especially those who are close to me like Jarius 'Jomar' Aquino, Tita Nova Villa, Nanay Pacita (Angelu de Leon) and director Gilbert Perez," Makisig told abs-cbnNEWS.com.

Makisig said his working relationship with the cast is much better now than when they first started out in the series. "It's OK now because we've become closer,  they've all become my friends."

Makisig said that aside from learning martial arts, he had to practice reading his own scripts so he could memorize his lines.

He boasted that the second season of Super Inggo has better special effects and an even more exciting storyline than the first season. One of the twists in the new series is that Inggo will get to train his bestfriend Jomar to develop his own super abilities.

"Super Inggo 1.5"  is the continuation of Gilbert "Budong" Jacinto's life as a young superhero. The new season premieres on November 3, replacing ABS-CBN's "Pedro Penduko at ang mga Engkantao."

Makisig rose to fame when he won the monthly finals of ABS-CBN's kiddie singing contest Little Big Star.

Kinsay di maglibog nga matud pa sa Pilipino Star Ngayon nga ang nahibaw-an ni Makisig mao nga October sila molarga paingon sa London, pero hangtud karon ania pa gihapon sila sa Pilipinas.

Pero, happy gihapon si Makisig bisan og wala pa sila makalarga tungod kay, "gusto ko pong um-attend sa Star Awards kasi nominate po ako," mapahiyomon niyang tsika ngadto sa PSN.

Nominated for Best Actor category si Makisig para sa PMPC Star Awards for TV for Super Inggo 1 ug hugyaw ang bagets tungod kay sila si Piolo Pascual, John Lloyd Cruz ug uban pang mga banggiitan ang iyang katigi.

Wala mag-expect si Makisig nga modaog,pero niya pa more than enough na nga mga hugyaw nga artista, mga de kalebre ang iyang nakontra.

Gawas pa, pasok pud sa semi-finals regional division sa bag-o pa lang nahuman nga Emmy Awards sa New York ang Super Inggo ug napili usab kini nga Best Drama Series sa nakaraang Catholic Mass Media  Awards last week.

Tsika sa amin ni Makisig sa presscon ng Super Inggo 1.5, walo silang magkakapatid at pangatlo siya sa panganay. Malapit na silang maging siyam dahil buntis ang mommy niya.

Ang kanyang daddy ang palagi niyang kasa-kasama habang ang mommy niya ang nagbabantay sa negosyo nilang Super Inggo Kwek-Kwek stand sa palengke ng Marikina.

Walang kaso kay Makisig na sa edad niyang ‘yon ay nagtatrabaho na siya at siya na ang bumubuhay sa kanilang pamilya.

"Okey lang po ‘yon. Nag-e-enjoy nga po ako sa taping, eh! Ang saya-saya kasi, eh! Mga kalaro ko po ‘yung mga kasama ko sa taping namin," nakangiting sey ng bagets.

Bongga si Makisig dahil Grade V pa lang siya ay nakabili na siya ng sarili niyang kotseng Nissan Sentra. Dati ay sa owner-type jeep ng daddy niya lang siya sumasakay. Bumili na rin siya ng Starex van dahil hindi na raw magkasya sa kotse ang mga damit niya.

Humble ang bagets at hindi niya raw nararamdaman na sikat na siya. Natutuwa siya na ‘Super Inggo’ ang tawag sa kanya ng mga bata, pero sa school daw nila ay ordinaryo lang ang trato sa kanya dahil matagal na niyang kasama ang mga kaklase niya.

Pagdayeg ang gipauwan ni direk Jeffrey Jeturian ngadto ni Comedy King Dolphy, kinsa maoy bida sa Maalaala Mo Kaya episode ugma sa gabii, kauban si Makisig Morales.

Gani, giangkon ni direk Jeffrey nga dream come true   nga mahimong director sa bugtong King of Comedy.

"Magaling si Mang Dolphy, isa siyang tunay na henyo. Mabigat ang role na iniatang sa kanya ng MMK at nakakatuwa na talaga namang ipinakita niyang isa siyang tunay na alagad ng sining."

Si Makisig usab walay kabutangan sa iyang pasalamat nga sa linghod pa niyang pangidaron nakauban na niya si Mang Dolphy.

This Friday, at Primetime Bida, the King of Comedy Dolphy, showcases his flair for drama as he topbills the special pre-Christmas offering of "Maalaala Mo Kaya." 

It's a very rare chance that the "King of Comedy" accepts acting assignments on TV, especially on drama anthology so this stint of Dolphy on "Maalaala Mo Kaya" should not be missed. Add to why this MMK episode is keenly awaited is because his fans rarely see Dolphy on a TV drama.

Episode director Jeffrey Jeturian is all high praises for the King of Comedy! "Magaling si Mang Dolphy, isa siyang henyo," he said. Dolphy plays a former prison inmate who has been given a chance at freedom-a freedom that he equates to imprisonment as he tries to catch up with the lost times and people he loves.

"Isang malaking karangalan sa akin ang maging bahagi ng produksiyon ng MMK at makapag-alay ng Paskong regalo sa inyong lahat," said the comedy king of his special role in this heart-tugging episode.

This episode of MMK features Dolphy alongside child star Makisig Morales, who expressed elation at being paired with the comedy king. "I feel so lucky kasi bata pa lang po ako pero nabigyan na ako ng pagkakataon to work with Mang Dolphy. It's a big honor po para sa akin," said Makisig.

Vhong plus Makisig

Vhong Navarro is back, and he is with Makisig Morales.

The comedian is teaming up with possibly the hottest child actor these days in the upcoming comedy Supah Papalicious.

“Todo na ’to. Hinding-hindi nyo makakalimutan ang pelikulang hinahanda namin para sa inyo. Haping-hapi ako na sa akin napunta ang role na ’to dahil tawa ako ng tawa binabasa ko pa lang ang script. Tapos si manong Gilbert [Perez] pa ang direktor so ine-expect ko ang kakaibang atake sa comedy! Ang gagaling din ng mga kasama ko, si Makisig [Morales] at Valerie [Concepcion]. So kumpletos recados talaga [To the max, yes, and you won’t forget this movie. I am so happy that I was offered the role. I was rolling on the floor as I was reading the screenplay. With manong Gilbert as director I am anticipating a different approach to comedy. And I am with some of the best performers today…]” Vhong shares.

This is child star Makisig Morales’ first try at comedy. “Grabe po ang blessing na ’to ang bata-bata ko pa, alagang-alaga talaga ako ng ABS-CBN at ngayon ng Star Cinema. Makisig, balak pakasalan si Kathryn

CONTRARY to earlier  report, si Maikisig Morales pa rin ang gaganap bilang anak ni Sharon Cuneta sa Caregiver, which will be partly filmed in London.
   
Ayon pa nga sa produktong ito ng reality show na Little Big Star, nakatakda silang umalis for London on April 2.
   
Ang Caregiver director na si Chito Roño naman is scheduled to leave March 22 para sa set-up.
   
Nakausap namin si Makisig sa presscon ng  first movie niyang Supah Papalicious with Vhong Navarro.
   
The boy (he’s 11) was in his element that night and for a good reason.         Hindi nga naman lahat ng batang actor na tulad niya ay gumagawa ng dalawang movies na halos magkasabay.
   
Most recently, Globe Asiatique gave Makisig and his family a two-storey townhouse in San Mateo, Rizal.
   
“Talagang taga-rito kami sa San Mateo,” anang father ni Makisig na si Jong. “Sa bayang ito ipinanganak ang lahat ng aming mga anak. Tahimik dito.”
   
Sina Makisig ay pitong magkakapatid (with another one coming soon, buntis ang mother ni Makisig na si Jackie). Sumunod siya sa kanyang Ate Mayumi, who is 12, na ang sinundan naman ay ang panganay nilang si Vincent, 13.
   
Even if Makisig can demand for his own room sa bagong bahay, ’di niya ito kailanman naisip. Kuntento siyang maka-share sa kuwarto ang mga kapatid na lalaki. Love na love raw niya ang mga ito.
   
Sa edad niya, nagpapakarga pa rin si Makisig sa ama, who enjoys doing it.
“Wala akong pagbabagong nakikita sa anak ko, kahit pa halos siya na ngayon ang puwedeng ituring na breadwinner ng pamilya,” sabi ni Jong. “Likas na mabait si Makisig tulad ng iba pa niyang kapatid.
   
Jong and Jackie are making sure na kahit busy si Makisig sa showbiz career, naipagpapatuloy pa rin nito ang pag-aaral. Makisig is in fifth grade sa La Coletta Academy, located just a stone’s throw away from their new house.

While filming Supah Papalicious, nagkaroon daw sila nina Vhong Navarro at Empoy Enriquez (the other comedian in the movie) ng kakaibang bonding. Sobrang naging close raw siya sa dalawa.
   
“Sila ang mga paborito kong komedyante,” ani pa ni Makisig.
   
Also starring in Supah Papalicious are Valerie Concepcion, Pokwang, Mura, Baron Geisler and Kitkat.
   
“Anak po ako ni Ate Valerie at manliligaw niya si Kuya Vhong. Si Kuya Empoy naman, kabarkada ni Kuya Vhong,” susog ni Makisig.
   
It will be a busy week for the child actor since he will help promote Supah Papalicious. They are scheduled to do mall shows starting today, March 8, at SM Marilao, 5 p.m.
   
Back-to-back naman ang gagawin nilang mall shows sa Sunday, dahil at 4 p.m., nasa Sta. Lucia East sila, tapos at 6 p.m., sa SM Bicutan naman.
   
Hindi ba siya napapagod? tanong namin kay Makisig. “Hindi po,” ang maliksi niyang sagot. “Enjoy nga po ako.”
   
Naku, Ian F., at his age, may matindi nang crush itong si Makisig. Guess kung sino ang object ng kanyang affection?
   
Well, si Kathryn Bernardo, ka-edad niya’t kasama sa TV show na Goin’ Bulilit.
   
“Si Kathryn lang ang tini-text niya,” ani Jong. “’Di kasi ’yan mahilig mag-text. Ni ayaw ngang gumamit ng cellphone, eh.”
   
Of Kathryn, Makisig was once overheard as saying: “Pakakasalan ko ’yan.”
   
Naku, Makisig, kay bata-bata mo pa, huwag kang mangako at baka lang mapako.

Mahinayon gyud si Makisig Morales sa London Caregiver, nga unang gikatahong gitangtang na siya tungod kay duna na siya'y sitcom with Comedy King Dolphy ug movie with Vhong Navarro, ang Supah Papalicious nga showing karong March 21. Gitin-aw ni Makisig nga mahinayon siya og gitakda nga April 1 na ang ilang shooting kauban si Megastar Sharon Cuneta sa London. Siya maoy silbi binatonan ni Shawie sa maong movie. Dungan niini, gisalikway ni Makisig ang intriga nga mas sikat pa niya ang kanhi sidekick lamang niya nga si Jairus Aquino, tungod sa kakusog usab sa Kung Fu Kids. Sabi naman ng batang si Makisig Morales, tuloy ang pelikulang Caregiver na gagawin nila ni Sharon Cuneta.

"Sa April 1 na po ang alis namin papuntang London," added na sey pa nito.

So, hindi pala sila natuloy umalis after Valentine’s Day. Kaya pala next week, apat ang episodes na ite-tape ni Megastar for Sharon.

Matagal naming nakakuwentuhan si Makisig Morales sa presscon ng Supah Papalicious at malayo na ang narating niya. Una namin siyang nainterbyu noon at wala pang naipupundar na gamit pero ngayon, dalawa na ang sasakyan niya—isang Nissan Sentra at Starex van.

May bago na rin itong bahay bukod dun sa tinitirhan nila sa San Mateo, Rizal.

Inamin niyang may nililigawan siyang magandang dalagita na ang tawag niya ay Babes. Ito ay si Katrin Bernardo na taga-Talent Center na nakasama niya sa Super Inggo. Noong Valentine’s Day ay pinadalhan niya ito ng tsokolate at roses kaya lang dalawa lang ito. Dalawang taon na niya itong nililigawan at nagte-text sila at naga-ice skating sa Mall of Asia.

Natutuwa si Makisig dahil marami daw values na matututunan sa bago niyang pelikulang Supah Papalicious laluna kung paano respetuhin ang magulang kaya angkop sa mga bata.
