Sarah can’t believe Regine’s guesting in her first solo concert


SARAH Geronimo was profuse in thanking Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez for agreeing to guest in her first solo concert at the Araneta Coliseum on Sept. 30.



"I’m so excited. I hope I don’t get nervous when I perform with her together on stage," Sarah says.

The Teen Princess has been rehearsing hard for the show, "Sarah Geronimo: The Other Side," because she doesn’t want to disapoint her fans.

She’s been idolizing Regine since she was a kid. "I used to watch her on television. I sang her songs. Now she’s guesting in my concert! Sometimes I ask myself, ‘Is this for real?’"

Regine was host of ‘Star for a Night’," where Sarah won and got her first big break.

"I won’t ever forget her appearing in my show," says Sarah, who just turned 17.

Also guesting in "Sarah Geronimo: The Other Side" are Piolo Pascual, Mark Bautista, and taekwondo expert Japoy Lizardo.

Viva’s main man Vic del Rosario is excited for Sarah.

"The Araneta is the ultimate test for all aspiring performers," Boss Vic says. "A one-night show at the Araneta can make or break an artist. I’m pretty confident Sarah will make it with flying colors."

The concert is a Viva Concerts production.

At 17, Sarah’s already a complete entertainer.

She has made a name as the star of the TV series "Sarah: The Teen Princess," which ran for two seasons at ABS-CBN. She has also had hosting stints in the same channel.

Sarah also parlayed her popularity into commercial success by stepping out as a product endorser.

She starred opposite Mark Bautista in her first-ever film, "Lastikman," Viva Films’ entry to last year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.

But beyond actng and hosting, Sarah has firmly established her stardom as a singer.

In the concert scene, Sarah and her gang have appeared thrice in the Araneta Coliseum.

Sarah capped 2004 with several trophies from the Aliw and Awit awards for her first album.

She was Aliw’s Most Promising Female Artist and brought home Awit Awards for Song of the Year and Best Performance by a Female Recording Artist.

How come the very popular MYMP chose the Music Museum and not the Araneta Coliseum as venue for their first major concert, "Especially For You" on October 1?

Every recording artist prefers the Big Dome. Does it mean that Sarah Geronimo who holds her first major concert on September 30 at the Big Dome is more bankable than Make Your Momma Proud whose latest CD "Acoustic and Beyond" has reached quintuple or five times platinum?

The very simple answer Juris and Chin gave is this: "We want a venue that is intimate for the kind of music we play. Music Museum is just the perfect place to establish intimacy with our audience."

Sing, Sarah, sing

Sarah Geronimo loves singing. And this is the only thing that matters to her. Despite being in the biz for close to two years, the young singer is still unfazed by intrigues that every now and then pop up and hurled at her or her mom.

At a press do held in connection with her concert, she merely smiled all the issues being leveled at the Geronimo family.

“Hindi ko nga alam kung saan nila nakukuha ang mga tsismis na ‘yan (I really don’t know where the rumors are coming from),” she says. “Basta ako, trabaho lang at napakarami pang kailangan ang aking pamilya (I just work to meet the needs of my family).”

Sarah is all set for her Sept. 30 gig at the Araneta Coliseum. It’s her first big gig, and she can’t help but feel every bit excited. What’s making her more nervous is the fact that Regine Velasquez has agreed to perform with her on the show. “That’s the reason I have been rehearsing continuously for the concert,” she adds.

Sarah has been an admirer of Asia’s Songbird since she was just a little girl. “It’s a dream come true for me to be able to perform with her on stage,” she gushes.

Seventeen-year old Sarah is already a complete entertainer. She has appeared in an afternoon drama serial Sarah: The Teen Princess. It ran for two seasons on ABS-CBN. She has also starred in Lastikman with Mark Bautista. The film was shown in the 2004 Metro Manila Film Festival.

Dalawang pambatang singing talent search ang masasalihan ng mga bagets na magaling kumanta. Mauuna ang Little Big Star ng ABS-CBN to be hosted by Sarah Geronimo at ang Bulilit Pop Superstar ng Channel 11 to be hosted by Kyla.

Nagulat si Kyla nang malamang magho-host din ng singing search si Sarah. Napa-"Talaga" ito nang hingan namin ng reaction. Wish na lang nito na parehong maging successful ang dalawang show although mas mauuna ang kay Sarah dahil 'yung BPS ay sa November pa sisimulan.

Curious lang kami, sino kaya ang mas naunang nakaisip between Channel 2 at 11 sa concept na maglagay ng singing search for the bagets? Sino rin kaya ang lalabas na mas magandang host?

Labis na nagpapasalamat si Sarah Geronimo kay Regine Velasquez sa pagpayag nitong mag-guest sa first solo concert niyang The Other Side na gaganapin sa Setyembre 30 sa Araneta Coliseum.

"I’m so excited! I hope na hindi ako nerbyusin pag nag-perform na kami together sa concert!" bulalas ni Sarah.

ININDIYAN ni Sarah Geronimo ang Magandang Umaga, Pilipinas kahapon, kaya naman sinalo na lang siya ni Mark Bautista.

Halos isang linggong ipinlug ang kanyang guesting, dahil ang drama nga ng MUP ay mini-concert ni Sarah.

Si Jason sa kampo ni Sarah ang kausap ng MUP staff. Alam din ito ng Viva Films, sabi pa ng aming kausap, pero Friday na nang umaga nu'ng magsabing hindi pupuwede si Sarah.

"Tama ba 'yon? Sana, nagpaka-professional na lang ang nanay ni Sarah. Ang katwiran niya, hindi raw kaya ng anak ang katawan para mag-perform.

"Eh, kapatid, naka-set up na sa UST, nag-abang ang mga estudyante, tapos, last minute, back out?"

Ang nakarating na lang daw sa kanila, "Kasi raw, wala namang talent fee, kaya biglang hindi pumuwede si Sarah. 'Yung nanay daw kasi ni Sarah, masyadong partikular sa talent fee, dahil bilib na bilib nga sa anak niya at parang hindi marunong pumi-ar.

"Eh, pa'no kaya kung magkaroon ng major concert si Sarah at pagsarhan siya ng MUP ng pintuan, dahil naalala ng MUP ang pang- iindiyan na ginawa nilang mag-ina?"

Handa kaming makinig sa anumang paglilinaw ng mommy ni Sarah. Baka nga masama ang pakiramdam ni Sarah, malay natin, 'di ba?

"Naku, alukin mo ng talent fee 'yan, sigurado, walang sakit si Sarah!" sey pa ng aming source.

Gano'n? Bigla tuloy naming naalala ang dayalog ni Sarah sa latest commercial niya ng isang sanitary napkin: "Hindi ko akalaing sisikat ako!"
