SAYANG at wala si Martin Nievera sa Divalicious concert ni Pops Fernandez last December 8.

Na-miss niyang mapanood ang ex-wife at mga anak na sina Robin at Ram habang sabay-sabay na kinakanta ang The Gift at si Robin pa ang tumugtog sa gitara.

Concert-***-fashion show ang Divalicious, na nagsutuhan ng tao, kaya lang, bitin sa guesting nina Kuh Ledesma, Gary Valenciano at Sharon Cuneta na walang spot numbers.

Ang ilan sa mga nanood sa concert ay ang magkakapatid na Gretchen, Marjorie at Claudine Barretto, kasama si Raymart Santiago at anak na si Sabina. Sabay-sabay silang dumating at pare-pareho pang naka-black.

Nakita rin namin sina Ruffa Gutierrez, Lucy Torres at Richard Gomez, Vina Morales, Dina Bonnevie, Jomari Yllana at ang mother nito.

POPS DESERVES A REPEAT

CONGRATS to Pops Fernandez for her successful “Divalicious” concert at the Big Dome last Saturday. We want to thank Tinnie Esguerra of ALV Events as they really gave importance to the press, unlike other concert producers who are so stingy when it comes to complimentary tickets.         The affair is really a must-see event, from Pops’ well selected repertoire, to her guests Sharon Cuneta and Gary Valenciano who are all great.
   
Pops wore a regal collection of costumes tastefully designed by chosen designers. The fashion show featured as an added attraction was a real treat, from the models to the clothes, especially the wedding gowns. A touching moment in the show was when Pops’ sons, Robin and Ram, sang “The Gift” with her. Both boys sing well (which is not surprising since both their parents are singers) and Pops couldn’t help but shed tears of joy. In short, The entire production was so entertaining, thanks to the fine direction of Rowell Santiago, it really deserves a repeat.

Kiss ni Martin, deadma ni Pops

Nibalik na si Martin Nivera sa Las Vegas sa miaging Sabado. Giangkon ni Martin ngadto sa PangMasa nga nagka chance meeting sila ni Pops Fernandez sa dressing room sa backstage sa Meralco Theater niadtong taping sa ABS-CBN Christmas special.

Nagtinagdanay silang duha sa maong lugar ug gi-greet niya si Pops og happy birthday ug iya kining gihagkan sa aping, apan walay reaksyon si Pops.

Wala na lang siya nag-hunahuna og lain kay sayud siya nga naglagot lang gihapon si Pops niya. Iya kadtong gibuhat kay si Pops lang gihapon ang nagpabiling inahan sa ilang mga anak nga sila Robi ug Ram.

Sayong mobalik sa Pilipinas si Martin karong buwan sa Enero sunod tuig tungod kay may concert siya nga nag-ulohan og "XXV: 25 Years of Martin Nievera," sa Araneta Coliseum karong Pebrero 1 ubos sa direksyon ni Rowell Santiago.

POPS AT AIKO, NAG-DUET

Habang nasa premiere night ako ng Shake, Rattle & Roll 9 ay nginarag ako ni Ruffa Gutierrez at tanong siya nang tanong kung saan ang birthday party ng kumare niyang si Aiko Melendez.

Nasira kasi ang cellphone ni Ruffa at nabura ang cellphone number ni Aiko.

Nakuha ko ang address ng birthday party ni Aiko, kaya nakapunta roon si Ruffa.

Kahapon habang kausap ko si Ruffa ay parang malat siya.

"Nagkantahan kasi kami nina Aiko. Ang saya-saya namin. Nakaka-touch din dahil nag-duet sila ni Pops (Fernandez) at ako pa ang nag-introduce sa kanila," kuwento ni Ruffa.

Nasa party rin ni Aiko ang ex-husband nitong si Jomari Yllana at anak na si Andrei.

"Ang saya-saya. They’re friends. ‘Yun ang maganda," sey pa ni Ruffa.

Naibalita rin sa akin ni Ruffa na a-attend si Aiko sa premiere night ng Desperadas sa Linggo (Disyembre 23) sa SM Megamall Cinema 10.

Pops lets out a "sexy joke"

Indirectly, Pops Fernandez admitted intimacy to Jomari Yllana during her 25th anniversary concert last Saturday. At the segment where Sharon Cuneta was teasing Jomari (seated among the audience) saying, "Namamangha ka pa rin pag nakikita mo si Pops? Dahilan ba ito sa ngayon mo lang siyang nakitang naka-gown?" The Concert Queen interjected on Jomari’s behalf, "Dahil ngayon lang niya ko nakitang may damit!"

The concert was well-attended by Pops’ showbiz friends like Gretchen Barretto, Ruffa Gutierrez, Richard Gomez, Lucy Torres among many others.

Throughout 2007, we have followed show biz scandals on and off legal bounds and the parameter on issues, intrigues and (showbiz) intricacies kept getting bigger, even the network war does not have a holiday.

So before we round up the eventful year that will soon be over, here are our from–the–heart wishes to the following celebrities and may we all enjoy the rest of the season before we all head back to tight schedules. Happy Christmas!

Things got worse when, in an interview with Yes Magazine, she revealed all the ugly sins of Martin against her when they were still living together. For a while, Martin’s camp threatened to sue but they never did. Up to now, the ex-couple is not on speaking terms.

In a tell-all interview with Yes Magazine, Pops Fernandez detailed the bitter lumps she dearly swallowed while she was wed to Martin Nievera. This in turn fueled another war in the already complicated world of the former Nievera couple.

Earlier, Pops also disclosed she was hurt when Martin’s now-partner Katrina Ojeda called her sons "monkeys" which Martin argued was taken totally out of context.

The ending (at least for 2007): Pops celebrated 25 years of showbiz in a productions-charged concert but minus Martin.

FINALLY, nagkausap na rin ang da­ting mag-asawang Pops Fernandez at Martin Nievera, matapos pagpiyestahan ng publiko ang kanilang away.

Sa presscon ni Martin para sa kanyang concert na Martin Nievera XXV na gaganapin sa Araneta Coliseum sa February, masaya niyang ibinalita na na nagkausap na nga sila ni Pops.

Sabi ni Martin, sa pamamagitan ng text messages ay kinausap siya ni Pops noong Bagong Taon. Binati raw kasi niya si Pops ng Happy New Year at nag-reply naman daw ito.

Kuwento pa ni Martin, kausap daw niya ang anak nila ni Pops na si Ram, bago siya nag-text kay Pops. Pero, tinanong daw muna ni Martin ang anak niya kung nasa bahay lang nila si Pops at sumagot naman daw ito ng ‘yes'.

Nagpaalam daw muna si Martin kay Ram kung puwede niyang i-text ang mommy niya. At siyempre, pumayag naman daw si Ram.

Dalawa ang text messages ni Martin kay Pops. Ang una ay ‘yung tinanong niya si Pops kung nakabili na siya ng regalo para kina Ram at Robin. At nag-reply raw agad si Pops sa kanya at sinabi na meron na siyang re­galo sa mga anak.

Ang isa pang text message ni Martin kay Pops ay ‘yung binati na nga niya ito ng Happy New Year, na sinagot naman nga agad ni Pops.

Siyempre, natuwa nang husto si Martin sa paga-acknowledge ni Pops sa mga text messages niya. Alam kasi ni Martin na ang isa sa pinakaayaw ni Pops ay ang pagti-text.

Hindi itinanggi ni Martin na mistula siyang nanalo sa isang singing contest nung mag-reply sa kanya ang da­ting misis. Sabi nga ni Martin, isa ‘yon sa pinakahihintay niyang pangyayari sa buhay niya ngayon, ang mag-reply sa kanya si Pops.

Nakakatuwa nga si Martin dahil parang kilig na kilig siyang nagkukuwento sa pagpapalitan nila ng text messages ni Pops.

Anyway, puring-puri talaga ni Martin ang naimbentong cellphone, dahil malaki raw ang nagagawa nitong maganda sa mga taong tulad niya.

Anyway, sa pagkakatanda ko, noon pa man ay sinasabi ni Pops na nagti-text sa kanya si Martin at hindi lang siya nagri-reply dahil ayaw niyang mag-usap sila sa pamamagitan ng text messages.

Pero, sabi ni Martin, kaya niya idinadaan sa pagti-text ang mga gusto niyang sabihin kay Pops ay dahil hindi raw siya confrontational na tao.

Sa kuwento pa rin ni Martin, dahil sa sobrang tuwa niya na finally ay nag-reply sa mga text messages niya si Pops, naikuwento raw niya agad ‘yon sa kinakasamang si Katrina Ojeda.

Si Katrina raw ang kauna-unahang tao na pinagkuwentuhan niya na kahit papaano ay nagkausap sila ni Pops sa text.

At siyempre, masaya raw si Katrina sa nangyari sa kanila ni Pops.

At maging sa anak nila ni Katrina na si Santino ay ipina­kita pa raw niya ang text messages ni Pops.

At sa labis na katuwaan ni Martin, nagmistula siyang bata na hindi talaga binura sa kanyang cellphone ang da­lawang text messages sa kanya ni Pops. Maganda raw na souvenir ‘yon.

Para kay Martin, ang batiin o kausapin siya ni Pops sa pamamagitan ng text messages ay malaking bagay na sa kanya.

At magandang senyales daw ‘yon para sa posibilidad na pag-uusap nila ni Pops ng personal, o sa tuluyang pagkakaayos ng problema nilang dalawa.

Sabi ni Martin, sa simula ay inisip niya na wala na talagang pag-asa para makapag-usap sila ni Pops, kahit sa text messages man lang.

Sa Christmas Special daw kasi ng ABS-CBN 2, hindi raw siya pinansin ni Pops. Nilapitan daw niya si Pops sa puwesto nito at hinalikan sa pisngi, pero hindi raw siya pinansin nito.

At dahil sa mga pagsagot ni Pops sa mga text messages niya noong Bagong Taon, nabura ang lahat ng iniisip niya.

Sa January 26 ay ika-18th birthday ng anak nila ni Pops na si Ram. Sabi ni Martin, sa araw na ‘yon ay baka makapag-usap na sila ni Pops.

Anyway, sa presscon na ‘yon ay tumangging sagutin ni Martin ang mga tanong ng mga manunulat kung iimbitahan ba niya si Pops sa concert niya.

Sabi lang ni Martin, ayaw raw niyang gawing promo ng kanyang concert ang bagay na ‘yon. Bahala na raw kung ano ang mangyayari.

Sa ngayon, ang mga anak pa lang na sina Ram at Robin ang mga kumpirmadong bisita ni Martin sa concert niya. Maliban sa tutugtog at kakanta sina Robin at Ram, ayaw na ring magbigay ng detalye ni Martin sa iba pang mangyayari sa concert niya.

Pero, masayang-masaya si Martin dahil ang mga anak na sina Ram at Robin daw ang nagprisinta na mag-guest sa concert niya. Proud si Martin na parehong mahilig mag-perform ang mga anak nila ni Pops.

‘Yun nga lang, ayaw niyang kumbinsihin ang mga ito na tuluyang pasukin ang showbiz. Mas maganda raw na magtapos muna ng pag-aaral ang dalawa bago pumasok sa showbiz.

'2007: An 'oink-oink year

In the Year of the Pig which we are bidding goodbye —  and good riddance! — to at the stroke of midnight tomorrow, everybody had a field day “pigging out” on showbiz tsismis which came juicy and aplenty, leaving us all with that burp-burp feeling of nauseous fullness.

As we forward to the Year of the Rat, let’s take one more dry-eyed look at the “noisemakers” these past 12 months who lit up the scene with explosions from their personal lives much deadlier than the bawangs and the Super Lolos and the Sawas and the Sinturones ni Hudas that are expected to make the whole country crackle with environment-destructive detonations.

(Note: This piece includes updated portions of the “8 Controversial Stars of the Year” story I wrote in my Peephole column for the December 2007 issue of People magazine, which marks its eighth anniversary this month.)

• Pops Fernandez — Just when we thought that the long-drawn real-life telenovela involving her and ex-husband Martin Nievera was ending, a new bomb exploded when Pops loudly objected to her sons Ram and Robin being called “monkeys” by Martin’s new love Katrina Ojeda (who actually described the boys as “jumping like monkeys” on Martin’s bed nine years ago when he and Pops separated). The Juicy Corner



Pops Fernandez is now texting back ex-hubby Martin Nievera.

Because of what Pops Fernandez revealed in an issue of YES magazine last year, her ex-husband Martin Nievera got so hurt he issued a mouthful to the press that created a huge gap between them. They exchanged unsavory statements against each other in print but they never talked personally to settle things.

Pops said she never texted back Martin, herself hurting from what Martin had told the press in retaliation from that magazine interview.

But on New Year’s day, Martin wished Pops happy new year through text and to his delight, she texted him back the same wish. So now Martin is happy that a communication door opened for them, which means they could have a civil relationship again.

But before New Year, when the ex-couple saw each other at ABS-CBN (they are both occasional performers on "ASAP 07") Martin greeted her of course but Pops never reacted, he said. It was like kissing or greeting a wall, Juicy was told.

Ipinangako ni Martin Nievera na mag-i-enjoy ang manonood sa kanyang XXV concert sa Araneta Coliseum sa February 1. Paghahandaan niya ito ng husto, dahil 25th  year at birthday concert niya ito (sa February 5, 46 years old na siya). Mga kantang pinasikat niya at identified sa kanya ang kasama sa repertoire.

Bukod sa mga anak na sina Robin at Ram Nievera, walang ibang guests sa kanyang concert si Martin. Nagulat ito't ang mga anak mismo ang tumawag sa kanya para sabihing gusto nilang mag-guest sa kanyang concert, pero sa day ng presscon, hindi pa nito alam kung ano ang gagawin nilang mag-ama.

At the same time, ‘wag asahang maggi-guest si Pops Fernandez, dahil bukod sa hindi yata siya inimbita ni Martin, ayaw ng Concert King na lumabas na ginagamit niya ang ex at ang nangyaring malaking controversy sa kanila para magkaroon ng publicity mileage ang show. Kung maggi-guest man daw si Pops, hindi na niya ia-announce.

Sa ngayon, masaya na si Martin na sinasagot na uli ni Pops ang kanyang text messages. Binati niya ito noong New Year at nag-text back at ibinalik ang pagbati sa kanya at sumagot uli nang tanungin niya kung ano ang ireregalo sa birthday ni Ram sa January 26 para nga naman hindi madoble ang gifts ng bagets.
