One of the most beautiful faces in Philippine television history is back with a retrospective concert that is sure to pack the Music Museum with throngs of fans on February 7 to 8. Singer, actress and TV host Agot Isidro-Sandejas comes full circle with "Agot Isidro: Back to Basics," a concert chronicling her successes as an artist.

Directed by seasoned performer Eugene Villaluz, the concert will feature a more evolved and mature Agot in an intimate and relaxed setting. Special musical guests The CompanY and Holiday Records’ new "Neo Soul R&B Artist" Robbie Navarro will also join Agot in entertaining her legions of fans who have supported her 20-year (?) showbiz career.

Agot’s popularity rose in the nineties when she was discovered by Johnny Manahan while on a backup singing stint for Sharon Cuneta. Agot was invited to be a co-host for the noontime show Sa Linggo nAPO Sila and received the moniker "Crush ng Bayan" because of her good looks, charm and talent. She has since rose into prominence with her albums with hit singles such as "Everyday," "Sa Isip Ko," and "Beginning Today."

Agot’s forays into movies, tv series and theater has only made the performer a more formidable force in the entertainment industry. Critics and fans alike were thoroughly impressed with her recent stage performance in Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah. Her recent project, a bossa nova album called "The Island" has been well received and has earned her the title of the new bossa nova lady.

On February 7 and 8, Agot once again takes to the stage doing what she does best—singing. Musical director VICTOR ORIA promises this concert to be a reflection of Agot’s graceful growth as an artist, and also her bright, and indeed very promising, future.

    Re: The Company

The CompanY starts 2007 on high note with many shows!

The country’s premier vocal group; The CompanY, starts 2007 on a high note with several performances around the country, recording their 17th album release and being part of the Philippine delegation in the 2007 Jakarta Jazz Festival in Indonesia.

Today, Feb. 7 and tomorrow, the group will be the special guest artist of Ms. Agot Isidro’s Music Museum concert entitled "Back To Basics." The group will be performing a cappella Brazilian music culled from Agot’s bossa album entitled "The Island" (Holiday Records). "Back To Basics" is produced by United MultiArt Productions inc. (UMPI).

On Feb. 9, The CompanY stages their pre–Valentine show entitled "An Everlasting Love" at the grand ballroom of Hyatt Hotel and Casino at the corner of M. H. del Pilar and Pedro Gil, Malate. Produced by Live Artist Entertainment, the group will be treating their audience to an entertaining evening. They will render their original hits from their multi–awarded albums, witty and clever a cappella show stoppers, rib–tickling novelty and comedic numbers, rearranged pop classics, vocal jazz ditties, Broadway highlights, timeless standards and more. Musical director for this show is Jorge San Jose. Tickets are available at Ticketnet (tel. 911-5555), all SM outlets, Hyatt Hotel and Casino (tel. 2478643).

On Feb. 10, the Philippine Pediatric Society (Southern Tagalog chapter) led by Dr. Benny Atienza will produce a pre–Valentine show entitled "Valentine CompanY." This concert performance will be held at the Culture and Arts Building of the University of Batangas located at Hilltop, Batangas City. On Feb. 13, The CompanY performs at Tiendesitas Fontera Verde in Pasig. Performance starts at 9:30 p.m. Musical Director for this show is Ms.Beth Martin.

On Valentine’s Day, The CompanY performs at Iloilo’s newly opened world class venue – The Centennial Resort Hotel and Convention Center in Jaro. The group will be staging their Valentine concert entitled "An Everlasting Love." Musical director for this show is also Ms. Martin.

Currently, The CompanY is also working on their 17th album entitled "The Summer of Bossa" (Viva Records). A major release of Viva Records for the first week of April 2007, this is actually a Brazilian–themed album that will not only feature Brazil’s most popular subgenre, the bossa nova, but other exotic and undiscovered rhythms. The CompanY is also experimenting on new hybrid subgenres for the first time – like acoustic house music (i.e. a Brazilian acoustic version of Hed Kandi). It is the aim of this album to interpret beautiful pop classics from different eras (i.e. the 1970’s to the 2000’s) and give it a Brazilian twist. This album will feature the Brazilian groups Aquarella and Guarana with Ms. Eileen Sison. "The Summer of Bossa" is produced by The CompanY’s artistic director, Moy Ortiz.

The CompanY is also eagerly looking forward to their participation in the 2007 Jakarta Jazz Music Festival. Alongside other world-class Filipino talents (i.e. Mon David, Verni Varga and Richard Merck), The CompanY will showcase their vocal jazz chops in one of the most prestigious jazz festivals in Asia.

Other big projects for 2007 include an Australian concert tour, a vocal performance workshop and master class in April and a big band concert at the Main Theater of the CCP on Oct. 13, 2007.

The year 2006 was a banner year for the country’s premier vocal group. For the first time in its 21-year career, The CompanY became a part of a TV series that subsequently became a highly rated global phenomenon. As part of the vocal and performance faculty of ABS-CBN’s talent search/reality TV daily show – Pinoy Dream Academy – members of The CompanY shared their musical and performance expertise with the Final 20 scholars handpicked from all over the world. Pinoy Dream Academy aired every single day for 16 consecutive weeks. The CompanY’s releases in 2006 proved to be big commercial and critical successes as well.

If the first quarter is any indicationof the year that’s in store for this group, looks like the CompanY is in for another banner year this 2007. For more information and details on The CompanY please visit www.thecompanysingers.com

The CompanY, handled by Boy Abunda’s Backroom, Inc., is composed of Annie Quintos, Moy Ortiz, Cecile Bautista, Sweet Plantado and Jay Marquez.

SOUNDS FAMILIAR By Baby A. Gil

    Re: The Company

    Experience summer bossa

FOR the summer of 2007, all roads lead to "Destination: Bossa," the 17th and latest album of the Philippines’ premiere vocal group, The CompanY, released under Viva Records. Fresh from their commercial and critical success with 2006’s "The Christmas Album," this time around, The CompanY takes a musical voyage exploring the varied rhythms, textures and moods of Brazilian music.

Described as the ultimate and essential soundtrack for the summer of 2007, The CompanY’s "Destination: Bossa" will be the perfect treat for that long awaited tropical vacation. Whether you’re in a chill out mood or you prefer the thrill of wild tropical party nights – "Destination: Bossa" takes you where you want to go depending on your mood swings. Think Sergio Mendes meets The Manhattan Transfer, sprinkle with some Swing Out Sister, then add a pinch of Hed Kandi.

This latest musical journey finds The CompanY with an album full of pop classic gems reflecting the impeccable musical taste of Filipinos with a twist of Brazil! Featured songs are the Brazilian classic "Goodbye Sadness (Tristeza)" gets remixed with hip hop beats; James Taylor’s "Your Smiling Face" latest incarnation morphs into Brazilian jazz, "Tulad Mo" (a Tagalog adaptation of "Like a Lover" written by The CompanY’s Cecile Bautista), the French disco classic by Voyage entitled "Souvenirs" is given a sunshiny acappella lift, The Police’s "Every Little Thing (He) Does Is Magic" now has a jet set cool feel perfect for driving down the Pacific Coast Highway, Seals and Crofts ‘70s hit "Summer Breeze" turns into a samba, the obscure Donna Summer hit "Whispering Waves" is the perfect remedy for frayed city nerves, Madonna’s "La Isla Bonita" stumbles into a new dance subgenre – "acoustic house music," Parokya ni Edgar’s "Harana" goes full on bossa nova, OPM classic "Bato sa Buhangin" by Ernani Cuengco and Snaffu Rigor turns contemplative with this a cappella version, The Beatles’ "Here Comes the Sun" finds its samba reggae cousin and is performed in Portuguese. Two more alternate remixes are also featured as bonus cuts in the album.

"Destination: Bossa" is produced by The CompanY’s artistic director, Moy Ortiz for his sub label Pop Art Music/ Viva Records. Re: The Company

Sweet, may career outside of The Company
PARINIG NGA!

"I just want to bring out the best in my students.

Graduate si Sweet sa UP sa College of Music, major in voice. She works with the best people in the industry lalo na kay Ryan Cayabyab bago siya naging member ng The Company.
