THERE ARE Christ-"MUST" traditions that we just never outgrow. They are what put us in a holiday mood, no matter our state of hearts or pockets. We asked some celebrities about their cherished rituals, and what Christmas presents they are giving themselves.

It turns out that, when Christmas comes around, most celebrities get down on their knees and pay homage to the real Star of the season. May His Star shine brightly on you and twinkle even long after Christmas is over! Joyeux Noel tout le monde!

Giving is the heart of Christmas. Not just materially. That's one tradition I observe with gusto. My gift to myself is spending time with my family. And my gift to my little girl Pipay.... it's a gift that won't fit under a tree, a gift that can only come from me. A gift that no other man can buy. This is a gift that once made us cry. This is a gift that stands alone. This is a gift as solid as our home. This is a gift I can give no other, not a friend or partner, not even a lover. This is a gift that's priceless and so true. This is a gift that came from God up above. A silent prayer and unconditional love to the mother of my children!

Martin, Lani US concert para sa Katrina victims

    STARIROY
    Vic Billones III
    Taliba

Mayroong dinner, show, prizes at ballroom dancing na gaganapin sa Grand Ballroom of J.W. Marriott Resort, Spa and Ca-sino sa Summerlin.

Magkita-kita tayo doon.

On high profile concerts in 2005

Nostalgia, purchasing power, proclivity for singable hit love songs and timing determined which high profile concerts in 2005 raked in the biggest attendance.

    *snipped*

"Martin Nievera-Patti Austin Live in Manila!" (Jan. 29, Araneta Coliseum)

"Umagang Kay Ganda" sung flawlessly in Filipino by both English-speaking Martin and Patti as encore was impressive. The twinkle of lights from mobile phones held up during a one-minute silence asked by Martin in memory of last year’s tsunami tragedy near conclusion of the show was moving. Moving and impressive are good adjectives to begin with.

    A New Year’s wish list

Following a tradition, we’ve listed down a handful of our New Year’s wishes, and included in it those that have been volunteered to us by some well-meaning friends — keen observers and passionate about the local showbusiness.

May this piece serve as an encouragement, and a blessing to most, all in the purpose of looking forward to a brighter, better and wiser 2006.

    This is our wish:

    • For Martin Nievera to get married next year. May he start working for a life of stability and lasting peace and joy by finding the courage in his heart to give his all for the right girl.

POPS AND MARTIN TOGETHER AGAIN IN LONDON

    IF I KNOW
    By Aster Amoyo
    People's Journal

ESTRANGED couple Pops Fernandez and Martin Nievera will be together in a concert entitled "Martin & Pops: Reunited" to be held at the Carling Apollo, Hammersmith, London on May 13 at 6 p.m. to be produced by Show Philippines and S Magazine-Europe.

Said concert is one of the rare shows of the separated couple and their first time together in U.K. Meanwhile, how true is the rumor that Pops has contracted Arnold Vegafria as her new business manager with her mom, Dulce Lucban as co-manager? Martin, on the other hand, has Joji Dingcong as manager. When Pops is not busy, she personally attends to her fashion line business, Pipay. Personal: Belated birthday greetings to OctoArts big boss, Orly Ilacad last Friday, January 13.

Martin and sisters reconcile with dad

Martin Nievera and his sisters have reconciled with their father, Bert Nievera. Martin said they have not seen their father for more than a year until the reconciliation happened last October.

"My dad and I have reconciled already, and my family, too,” Martin told an entertainment writer. “Before we finally came to see each other again on his birthday last October 17, my Dad and I have started communicating already. But it was only me from our family.”

Martin said he planned a surprise visit to his dad, along with his sisters, so everyone could bury the past and be one family again. "My Dad and Carol (Bert’s current partner) thought I was the only one who’s going there to have lunch with them on his birthday. But my sisters were with me and so when we reached the restaurant and he saw us, everyone was crying. It was a very touching episode in our life," Martin narrates.

The Concert King also revealed that he is negotiating for a long-term singing contract in Las Vegas. "Nothing is final yet, but we’re in the process of putting everything in paper. Let’s hope for the best."
