Suplico: New ZTE witness 'in grave danger'

    "Not scaring off

Malacañang also denied having a hand in the alleged "scaring off" of the new witness.

"It is never the mandate of this government to scare anybody as claimed by a known critic of the Palace. Just like what everybody else is saying, if they want to seek for the truth, then seek through our judicial system. If not, then real motivations are clearly shown, rumor mongering," Golez added."

Over recent years the number of killings of political and community activists in the Philippines has continued to increase. The methodology of the attacks has led Amnesty International to conclude that the attacks constitute a politically-motivated pattern of killings. The organization remains gravely concerned that members of the security forces may have been directly involved or been complicit in the killings. In this report Amnesty International highlights a number of recommendations, addressed to the government, international organisations, civil society organisations and the armed groups, and calls for concerted action.

hmm... what will come out from this...

New NBN-ZTE witness missing, says opposition leader

Iloilo Vice-Governor Rolex Suplico on Monday said the new National Broadband Network (NBN)-ZTE witness "Alex" could be missing.

At the Truth Forum hosted by the Black and White Movement, where other Senate witnesses were present, Suplico surprised everyone by saying that Alex may be missing since he has been unable to contact the witness for two days.

    Passport proof of Shenzen trip

Gina de Venecia, wife of Pangasinan Representative and former House speaker Jose de Venecia II, meanwhile sent ABS-CBN News a copy of her passport supporting her statement Friday that she was in Shenzen, China last November 2, 2006 after she was not invited to the controversial golf game of the First Couple, her husband, and former Commission on Elections (COMELEC) chair Benjamin Abalos with alleged officials of ZTE Corporation.

This came after Occidental Mindoro Rep. Amelita Villarosa said that de Venecia's Shenzen trip was "impossible" because they were shopping in Hong Kong on that day.

De Venecia said she did go shopping with Villarosa only after the de Venecias returned to Hong Kong from the Shenzen rendezvous.

The photocopy of the passport de Venecia gave to ABS-CBN News showed that it did have a stamp from Chinese immigration when she left Hong Kong for Shenzen on November 2, 2006, and returned to the former crown colony on the same date.

De Venecia said Villarosa did not know about the trip because it was a secret trip.

even if that were inadmissible as evidence, there exists reasonable doubt because of motive, capability, capacity to carry it out, circumstantial evidence and several witness accounts.
