May cameo role si Gary Valenciano sa pelikulang I Love U Virus na bida sina Jericho Rosales at ang American actress na si Brianna Evigan.

Comedy ang role ng singer-actor bilang computer nerd, pero na-impress pa rin niya ang Fil-Am director na si Francis dela Torre at ang American crew. Perfect daw ang timing at blocking ni Gary at walang take two sa kanyang mga eksena.

Sa tuwa ng director, gustong isama pabalik sa Los Angeles si Gary at nagpaalam na sila kay Angeli Pangilinan-Valenciano na isasama ang asawa nito sa Amerika.

Bukod kina Jericho, Brianna at Gary, nasa cast din ng movie ang Fil-Am actor na si Dante Basco na magaling sa The Debut at nakasama ni Antonio Banderas sa isang dance movie na nakalimutan ko ang title.

Four weeks magsu-shooting dito si Brianna at sana, nandito pa siya ‘pag nag-showing ang movie niyang Step Up 2 (Streets) para personal niyang mai-promote.

‘Superman’ plus Gary V and Echo

MANILA, Philippines - Hollywood actor Dean Cain, who played Clark Kent/Superman in the TV series “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” (1993-1997), will arrive in Manila this week to shoot a movie with Jericho Rosales in the lead role, and also starring Gary Valenciano, Inquirer Entertainment learned on Friday.

The movie, titled “Subject: I Love You,” will also feature Briana Evigan (“Step Up 2: The Streets”) and Filipino-American Dante Basco (“Take the Lead,” “Hook”).

The film is about the controversial “I Love You” computer virus that gripped the modern world in terror in the year 2000. Principal photography started March 3. “Subject” will be shot around Metro Manila, according to Andrei Aquino, vice president for business development of Radiant Studios Inc., the producer.

$5M budget

Radiant Studios Inc. is a subsidiary of Radiant Era Holdings, LLC., a US-based holdings company. It has set a $5 million budget for the film, added Aquino.

Jericho plays Victor, a security guard who falls in love with American deejay Butterfly, portrayed by Briana. Gary plays Jericho’s best friend Choy, the guy who created the virus, which Victor sends through an e-mail. Dean is the villain James Trapp and Dante is Nicky, a friend of Choy and Victor.

Dean will be in Manila for two weeks. Briana, who arrived on Thursday, will stay till the end of March. Dante arrived on March 1.

‘Blown away’

“It’s an open door that I’m glad I walked through,” Gary V told Inquirer. “As to where this will lead, I do not know, I did [pray] for new things to do and here is one I believe will come my way in the years to come.”

Angeli Pangilinan-Valenciano, who manages Gary V and Rosales, said she was “totally blown away” by the turn of events.

She recounted: “Francis dela Torre, the FilAm director, wanted to take Gary and Echo back to the US to work with Dean and Dante. When Echo auditioned for the role, he had no idea about the actors he’d be working with. It brought us joy to watch him being treated equally, as a pro.”

The film, co-written by Jovie Saddul and Dela Torre, may be released at the end of the year.

Filipino artists clad in their best chic rock attire graced the 2008 MYX Music Awards that aims to celebrate the most popular singers and bands in the Philippine music industry. The third edition of this annual music event took place last night, March 26, at the Meralco Theater, Ortigas Center.

Some of the highlights of the evening include the performance of international hip hop artist Apl.D.Ap of the Black Eyed Peas and the tribute to Magna Awardee Gary Valenciano, who is celebrating his 25th anniversary in showbiz.

Apl.D.Ap (whose real name is Allan Pineda) also received a Special Citation for his outstanding contribution to the music industry and to his homeland, the Philippines. His compositions "The Apl Song" from the album Elephunk and "Bebot" from the album Monkey Business are hailed as songs that exemplify his pride in his Filipino heritage. He was also cited "for his efforts to pave the way for Filipino artists and Filipino-American artists through his label, Jeepney Records."

In his acceptance speech, Apl addressed his kababayans and said, "First of all, I want to thank God. Maraming salamat sa MYX Awards. I want to thank all the fans for supporting me. I want to thank my group, the Black Eyed Peas, for believing in me, for letting me make a Filipino song in Tagalog to represent my culture. [applause] I will continue to represent Filipinos all over the world, y'all! They ask me, ‘What makes you Filipino?' I say, I will be Filipino today, I will be Filipino tomorrow, and I will be Filipino in the future. Maraming salamat!"

PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) was able to talk with Apl before the start of the program. He reiterated his plans to help Filipino and Filipino-American artists through his own music label. "It's called Jeepney Records, which is my label. That's why I'm here also ‘coz I would like to collaborate with other Filipino artists and look for other talents."

When asked to name artists whom he would like to collaborate with in the future, he replied, "I like Bamboo. I like Parokya ni Edgar. I like Gloc-9. I like Slapshock and Gary V...and a lot more."

Aside from participating in the MYX Music Awards, Apl hopes to make a guest appearance on ABS-CBN's noontime show Wowowee and perform in local clubs. This native of Angeles, Pampanga, will be here in the country until April 5. Apl also revealed that he is doing a solo album that is scheduled to be released this year.

"One of my songs is called ‘Island'... I wrote it when I was here during Christmas. It's about the beauty of the country and the hardship of the country. I'd like to represent that all over the world," says Apl with a smile. During the awards night, Apl performed "Island, " prompting some members of the audience to stand up and groove to his upbeat music.

MYX Magna Awardee Gary Valenciano was overwhelmed by the production number that paid tribute to him and his unforgettable songs such as "Hataw Na" and "Sana Maulit Muli." The medley of songs was performed by some of the best names in the music industry, including Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, Vina Morales, Ebe Dancel, Jett Pangan, and Janno Gibbs. Mr. Pure Energy himself was very surprised to see his own sons, Paolo and Gabriel, take part in the production number since they managed to keep it a secret from him.

The big winner during the awards night was Sarah Geronimo, who was named as Favorite Artist, Favorite Female Artist, Favorite MYX Celebrity VJ. Her song "Ikaw" was also chosen as Song of the Year. The pop singer is currently in the United States for her concert series, which is why she sent a taped message that was aired during the program.

Among the presenters that night were Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 2 housemates Riza Santos, Will Devaughn, Jon Avila, Gaby dela Merced, and Ruben Gonzaga. Other artists tapped to be presenters include Nancy Castiglione and her fiancé Doug Kramer, Valerie Concepcion, Katya Santos, Yeng Constantino, Marc Abaya of Kjwan, and Dingdong Dantes. Aside from presenting an award, the sexy group Kitty Girls performed a lively dance number that excited all the hot-blooded males in the audience that night.

Directed by Rowell Santiago, the third edition of this annual music awards was hosted by MYX VJs Luis Manzano, Iya Villania, Nikki Gil, Drei, Mica, and Igi. To determine the winners of the different categories, sixty percent of the scores came from the viewers of MYX while the remaining forty percent came from the votes of the artists themselves.

Tsika nga nasagap sa PangMasa mao nga sa production number nila ni Bea, Jericho Rosales ug Gary Valenciano last Sunday sa ASAP nagpunay matud pa og yawyaw si Angeli nganong giapil ang young actress sa maong production number. 

Ug tayming nga nakadungog ang kampo ni Bea, busa mibanat sila karon og yaywyaw.  "Bakit daw inile-level si Bea kay Gary V, hindi raw magka-level.," hinumdum pa sa fans nga nakadungog.

"Bakit hindi niya kinuwestiyon si Jericho, e, sintunado naman, bakit hindi niya pinanood muli ang tape, dapat do'n siya nagreklamo, bakit si Bea, hindi naman sintunado si Bea, nasa tono ang pagkakanta niya at saka sino ba ang mas sikat, hellooo?" sunud-sunod nga yawyaw sa fans ni Bea. 

Pangutana pa sa fans, wala ba diay mahunahuna ni Angelie nga dako'g sapi nga nahatag si Bea sa estasyon hinungdan nga ingon niini na lamang ang pagyawyaw niini?

Samtang nalokah ang production staff tungod kay, "biglang nagyayang mag-taping si Angeli ng ASAP kasi nga paalis si Gary V for series of shows abroad, e, wala naman sina Piolo (Pascual), Sam (Milby), Erik Santos, e, sino ba ang nagdadala ng ASAP, hindi ba ang mga bagets?"

Samtang giingnan ang fans nga over protective lang si Angeli maong ingon niana siya. Pero tubag sa fans, "eh, sino ba ang tinatalakan niya, hindi nga ba ka-level ng asawa niya?

Pero kinsa man gud diay si Bea Alonzo sa ABS-CBN? Ang tubag matud pa mao nga siya maoy modala sa papel nga Betty La Fea, samtang si Gary V. walay laing show gawas sa ASAP. Pak!

Penthouse 7 is doing “Penthouse (That ‘70s Dance Show): The Grand Reunion” at the NBC Tent at The Fort on April 30 at 8 p.m. Gary is a world-class multi-media artist known for his versatile dancing and its sharp moves. Gina Valenciano-Martinez, Gary’s elder sister, talked how her 13-year-old brother insisted on watching the modern group (the other being the Latin group) practice. That was the time he had not picked up an entertainment career. Gina added, “He was not even a Kundinara member yet!” He also insisted on making Gina teach him the newest dance moves introduced in the show. He might not have appeared in the show, but there’s no doubt he had been influenced by the Penthouse 7 people in turning out to be The Total Performer..

GARY Valenciano has been tapped by both Star Cinema and Viva Films, co-producers of When Love Begins, to sing the film’s theme song, One Hello.
   
Gary has been the voice behind the theme song of several of Aga’s blockbuster movies, two of which are Kailangan Kita and Dubai.
   
In the early stage of their careers, Aga and Gary did a movie together, Hot Shot, for Viva Films.
   
The film had as director, Jeric Soriano, father ng sikat na commercial and TV director, Paul Soriano (lalong kilala bilang boyfriend ni Toni Gonzaga).
   
Direk Jeric’s dad is the late matinee idol Nestor de Villa.

Gary V's 'Rebirth'

Gary Valenciano's much-awaited new album "Rebirth" under Universal Records is one of the many celebrations for his 25th anniversary in showbiz. Every CD released from the living musical legend is a major event so it is fitting for the new album to herald the making of a great artist.

"Rebirth is not about trends but rather it hopes to cater to the rhythms and beats, harmonies and melodies played out in real life, filtered by emotions nestled in the human heart," Gary writes in the liner notes.

The album is especially relevant today - to borrow from the title of his previous album. As he notes: "So much has happened in the last few months and many events have dampened the spirit of the Filipino. Many dreams have lain dormant for many years, many hopes have lost fire and countless desires have remained just that - desires. 'Rebirth' hope to fuel the passions to live life to the fullest, to reignite those dreams once thought lost, those hopes thought unreachable, and those life once thought dead."

Most of all, the "Rebirth" album reminds people of just how much God's love has truly existed for all. For Gary V, the newly released CD is also a personal statement of his gratitude for the Lord and to everybody who have helped him in achieving the glorious 25 years of his career.

Upon listening to songs like "Only Hope" (the carrier single), "When I Hear You Call," "Father's Love" and "He Won't Let Go," it becomes obvious that he is more than ready to inspire and entertain  even more than the next 25 years.

Gary V's moving renditions of "Mary Did You Know," "Natutulog Ba Ang Diyos?," "Letting Go" and "Friends" remind us that his voice must have acquired that unique power from above.
