Re: Japeth Aguilar takes first step to NBA
sino ba itong mas ugok na sinisiraan kaagad ang kapwa pinoy? did you ever played any organized basketball? college b-ball sa pinas can be easily beaten ng local fil-ams dito. so watz to prove sa pinas----too slow and boring! to test your ability and get proper coaching and training mas maganda dito sa US. I played with ncaa US players and even retired/semi pro/nba players, street ballers ala and1, yup maraming magaling but this kid has real potential. siguro enough nang credentials ko to say na mahusay itong batang ito dahil i actually played against him. very coachable at magalang at humble! besides playing college ball sa US, i also studied in coaching and sports psychology. ano bang alam mo sa b-ball at sinisiraan mo kaagad ang kapwa mo!sa pinas sisiraan ka lang at walang pera diyan. ang dami ko nang nakausap na naglaro sa pba---gutom diyan!

###### KA BIGBENJIE! NAGMAMAGALING KA NANAMAN DIYAN! AMBISYOSO KA RIN EH NOH? QUOTE(bigbenjie @ Aug 31 2006, 11:55 AM) i just recently played with japhet aguilar, he is so young and likes to shoot out side pero mahina pa sa dribbling. very athletic, especially all of those two handed reversed dunks. pero bata pa talaga, i am only 6'1" but he was having problem with me when i post him out, plus an oldy and two knee surgeries, he should be killing me. but i really like him dahil mabait, magalang, hopefully he makes it sa nba, i know his family will get the right people to protect him. his dad they said used to be good pero wala na talaga, mahina na rin sa ilalim. they were having hard time beating my team kahit kasama na niya si punzalan and otto last year. may luto pa! anyway kasama ko sila sa chicago and someday we will be playing together! good luck japhet and see yah sa naba! i played with this kid recently and he's got a lot of potential and i met his parents and played with his dad-they are good people. he has the height and the athleticism, he just need the right trainer and coach---anything is possible. back in the 90's nobody knows me sa pinas dahil sa politics, but i used to play with kenneth duremdes almost everyday sa manila noong nasa college and rp team pa siya, doon ko nalaman ang palakasan sa pinas-u need connection and japhet has far more potential. i tried out sa division 3 team sa chicago, just by showing up in practiced and everybody loved me, kahit walang agent nor representatives but i torn my acl----nawala ako parang bula, now i am 32 y/o focus on getting back in shape(have not played for almost 10 yrs). and coaching/managing sa filam team. first time kong masusubukan sa naba tourney t. 2-3 (labor day). anyway, i really like this kid, ang i am proud of him dahil mas may chance talaga siya sa nba. wag lang masisira sa kapwa niya lalo na sa pinoys at walang injuries.
Mabuti pa ang Araw... siguradong sisikat!

Re: Japeth Aguilar takes first step to NBA
Hilltoppers Land Filipino Prospect *****from scouthoops.com*****
By Dave Telep National Recruiting Director Posted Aug 24, 2006
The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers might be fishing in unchartered waters with their latest commitment. Darrin Horn’s team reached into the Philippines to grab a very promising international prospect.
After playing two seasons for Ateneo De Manila University in the Philippines, Japeth Aguilar felt it was time to take the next step and head to the United States to play college basketball. On Thursday, Aguilar committed to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and he might be the first Filipino Division I basketball player.
Obviously, there’s a measure of pride in the 6-foot-9 combo forward. “I think because no one has ever been here (from the Philippines),” Aguilar said, “I feel proud and happy to be here because some other athletes in the Philippines (are good) and I’m the one to represent the Philippines in another sport and not only boxing.”
The 210 pounder was spotted by the Toppers during an evaluation camp in Illinois. Numerous programs moved on him and he visited Niagara, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee State and South Dakota State. Bradley wanted to get in the mix and so did Loyola.
“I think for me it was everything from the coaches to the players to the school and the facility,” Aguilar said. “I liked everything about Western Kentucky.”
In Bowling Green, Aguilar will get to use his perimeter package and considerable defensive talents. Over in the Philippines he’s quite the commodity as a prospect. He’ll sit out this season and have 2 years remaining to play in the Sun Belt.
The 19 year old could wind up being a major performer for Darrin Horn’s team beginning in the fall of 2007.

at least ako may narating at never akong nangarap sa nba and not even pba, i just love the game at ang point ko ay dahil may opportunity, i grab it. sa open try out, my friends just dared me to try, eh nakuha ako sa division 3. dahil doon nakatapos ako ng 2 bachelors sa US at nakasama at nakalaro ang mga players from h.s. at pros.one time i worked with Jordan as a trainer noong nagtratraining siya for his second come back from retirement. im not bragging about it but just simply to prove the point you are so rushing to judge pero wala ka namang credentials to back it up! if you can talk to talk you should know how to walk to walk! at least ngayon i am involved sa filipino community ang giving back sa kapwa natin to promote sports. i managed, organizer, coach, and player. very commited ako----eh ikaw puro paninira lang! may nagawa ka na bang mabuti sa kapwa pinoy mo! iyan ang cl######ic "crab mentality plus with A1 mayabang na wala naman!" do you know these people? you are already downplaying sa decisions nila!o sige na, aminin mo na lang na naiingit ka at mas maiintindihan pa kita----IwaMokong!alam mo ba dito sa US grade schoolers pa lang ay may mga scouts na inaabangan na sila!oppps...i can't talk b-ball with you bro dahil expectator ka nga lang pala!

Re: Japeth Aguilar takes first step to NBA

Re: Japeth Aguilar takes first step to NBA
taga rito ako sa pinas....just like what i said sa isang thread basketball is my passion...anything about basketball pinapanood ko...especially international compettions like Asian Games Olympics Euroleage...im just excited and proud na may isang pinoy basketball player na may lakas ng loob na mag try out sa US....una ko pa lang nakita maglaro ang batang to sa school namin sa UE he was just 17 nun they have a tune game against our team nakita ko na may mararating sya kasi bihira lang sa mga pinoy na 6'9 pataas ang height na coordinated and nakakatakbo...bihira mo makita sa mga pinoy yun...usually yung mga 6'9 na pinoy natin mababagal,,,kaya pag dating sa international compettion nahihirapan tayo sumabay sa mga kalaban natin...alam naman natin pag dating sa international compettion may mga mas malalaki teams kaysa sa atin...at ang advantage natin dapat sa kanila is quickness and outside shooting...so kung mag iimprove si japeth dahil sa stint nya sa US malaking asset sya sa national team natin in the future....with the combination of talented home grown players natin and fil-ams dagdag mo pa si japeth malaki ang chance natin na makabalik sa Olympics at maibalik yung loss glory ng philippine basketball sa Asia...nakakalungkot nga lang na hindi tayo makalaro ngayon para mapatunayan natin na may ibubuga tayo kasi we are still suspended by FIBA(international basketball federation) dahil sa mga gahid na politioko na namumuno sa philippine sports...wala tuloy tayo basketball team sa Asian Games this Dec. sa Qatar

Re: Japeth Aguilar takes first step to NBA
i played with japeth dito sa chicago with my fil-am team for naba and of course kasama ko ang tatay as officials.i bet he is much more complete player na ngayon, and i heard he won a slum dunk contest sa school nila. sikat na siya dito at puro positive support ang natatanggap niya even from fellow ball players, yun lang may ibang pinoy na naiinggit pa rin... I wish the philippine national team should play against the best of fil-ams dito sa us and canada----magandang promotion iyon...

magandang promotion yan...baka makadiscover pa ng na magagaling na fil-ams na pwede makalaro sa National team pero sa ngayon siguro di pa maayos yan kasi on going and PBA season maybe sa off season at kasi ito yung time na naghahanda ang National Team natin....kailangan lang may mga sponsors na willing mag promote na mga laro....our National Team is still having practices atleast twice a week despite the ban para di mawala ang cohesiveness ng team...meron tayong pool of players na pinagpipilian 3 pool sila Team A,B,C...this pool is compose mostly of PBA players and collegiate standout....next year kapag naayos na ang gusot sa pagitan ng mga official natin na namamahala sa basketball at nalift na ang ban our team is planning to play top national teams sa europe as part of their preparation for the FIBA Asia Continental Championship ito yung qualifying tournament for the Olympics and since China will be the host of the next Olympiad automatic na sila na kasali so we only need to place second para makapasok sa Olympics....
