Zsa Zsa Padilla’s age-defying secret now out

    02/05/2008

If there is one celebrity who personifies that modern idiom that says 40 is the new 20, then it would have to be the Divine Diva Zsa Zsa Padilla. The woman seems to look younger each year!

Asked to reveal her biggest beauty secret, Zsa Zsa laughs out loud and agrees that yes, it is love. No doubt the celebrated performer and actress has all the love she desires, from her family to her loyal friends, but what strikes one after a short conversation with her is that the best way to give and receive love is to start by loving yourself.

For one thing, Zsa Zsa certainly knows how to take care of her looks — from her face to her skin to her body. This is something she puts importance on as she is constantly under the glare of kleig lights — on television, the movies and concert stage.

“I don’t sleep with makeup on,” Zsa Zsa shares. “I always clean my face well. From my forehead to my toes, I always moisturize. I’m confident enough to show my skin bare in public when I don’t need to wear makeup, because I take care of it. I’m vain in more ways than one. I’m lucky not to have many pimples or blemishes... thanks to good genes and a solid regimen.”

After endorsing last year the breakthrough whitening product, Belo Essentials, Zsa Zsa now promotes Belo’s Thermage, the only non-invasive treatment that ensures tighter skin, renewed facial contours and healthier collagen. The incision-free procedure is fast and easy and requires no downtime from normal activities. Unlike lasers, which require four or more sessions, Thermage can be performed only once on patients of all skin types.

“I’m always dying to go to Belo medical for my usual treatments — facial, my favorite Pan-G and now, Thermage,” Zsa Zsa ways. “What women have to go through just to make ourselves beautiful. But not just to please our man, let me be clear on that. We do it because we love to look and feel beautiful.”

Zsa Zsa’s face for Thermage dominates huge Belo billboards around town. Belo, incidentally, is also supporting Zsa Zsa’s 25th anniversary concert, Zeries @ 25, next month at Mandarin’s Captain’s Bar.

Other Filipino celebrities who have undergone Thermage with the Belo Medical Group include Albert Martinez, Lorna Tolentino and Margie Moran-Floirendo.

Immediately following a Thermage procedure, your skin should feel tighter, smoother and more youthful. Thermage employs a patented radio frequency (RF) technology called ThermaCool, which has been clinically proven to tighten and gently skin, and smooth-our wrinkles. The said device has been cleared by the US Food and Drug Association (FDA) for the non-invasive treatment of facial wrinkles.

Thermage can also be done for the eyes, hands and abdomen. The procedure causes immediate tightening of the collagen structure, with additional tightening over time. Thermage has an excellent safety record and is now available in over 70 countries. It is estimated that over 275,000 procedures have been performed with the ThermaCool device and Belo has contributed to many of those procedures in the past three years.

Last year, Belo finally merited an international recognition it rightfully deserves. Dr. Belo’s extensive experience in the medical field recently earned her the enviable citation from Thermage International for having performed the most number of Thermage procedures worldwide. She bested over 2,000 physicians from other countries, including the United States, Europe and Asia.

The award is both an honor and a dream come true for the Belo Medical Group, which is celebrating its 18th anniversary this year as it remains in the forefront of putting Philippine medical tourism on the map and turning the Philippines into “the beauty capital of Asia.”

The recognition also proves that Filipino doctors are now at par with other international medical practitioners when it comes to cosmetic dermatology, a specialized, world-class industry.

Certainly, being number one in Thermage worldwide will open bigger doctors for the Belo Medical Group. With the most experience, affordable price, excellent service and standards at par, if not better than, with the rest of the world, there is no better time to encourage non-surgical rejuvenation here in the Philippines.

The Belo Medical Group has clinics at the Medical Plaza in Makati, Podium in Ortigas, Tomas Morato and Trinoma in Quezon City, Rustan’s Makati, Greenhills, San Juan and Westgate in Alabang.

For inquiries, please call the Belo Medical Group’s help desk at 844-2939 or visit its Web site at www.belomed.com or e-mail infor@belomed.com.

Zsa Zsa: The soundtrack of her life
    FUNFARE By Ricardo F. Lo
    Thursday, February 7, 2008

Like Pops Fernandez and Martin Nievera, Zsa Zsa Padilla is celebrating her 25th year in showbiz not just with one concert but with a whole series, aptly titled Zeries@25, on Feb. 8 and 9, and 15 and 16, 9 p.m. at the Captain's Bar of the Mandarin Oriental Manila. (Ticket prices are P2,000 and P1,500; call the following numbers for inquiries: Mandarin at 750-8888, Ticketworld at 891-9999 and Music Museum at 721-6726.)

Funfare asked Zsa Zsa to make a list of her 20 Favorite Love Songs, this being not just her anniversary month but the month of love. Here they are:

    1. Hiram by George Canseco

I was lucky enough to have witnessed George compose it. Viva Films asked him to do a song for the movie Palimos ng Pag-ibig and I was chosen to interpret the song.

My favorite line in the song is the very familiar refrain which goes, Di ba ako ay tao lang na nadadarang at natutukso rin?

    2. Have I Told You Lately That I Love You? by Van Morrison, interpreted by Rod Stewart

Sometimes, we don't say the words "I love you" enough, so this song says it for me: You fill my heart with gladness, take away all my sadness. Ease my troubles, that's what you do.

    3. Through The Years by Kenny Rogers

I swear we've been through everything there is, can't imagine anything we've missed. Can't imagine anything the two of us can't do through the years...

    4. Superstar by The Carpenters

Your guitar, it sounds so sweet and clear but you're not really here, it's just the radio.

The music is the one that gets me. I once listened to this song over and over during the whole duration of a teleserye that I was doing. It never failed to make me cry. I love this line because it's about falling in love with, who else, but a superstar

    5. Piano in the Dark by Rusell Brenda

Just as I walk through the door, I can feel your emotion. It's pulling me back, back to love you.

This song helped me understand the emotions I was going through at a certain time in my life when I wanted to leave a relationship but couldn't. I'm glad I stayed.

    6. We Belong Together by Mariah Carey

It's another song about sticking it out with the one you love - Who's gonna talk to me on the phone till the sun comes up? Who's gonna take your place? There ain't nobody better. Oh baby, we belong together.

    7. You Are So Beautiful by Joe Cocker

Any woman would want to hear this song from the man she loves because, let's face it, women don't normally see what's beautiful about them - You are so beautiful to me, can't you see? You're everything I hoped for, you're everything I need. You are so beautiful to me.

    8. Kailangan Kita by Ogie Alcasid, interpreted by Piolo Pascual

I have so many favorite compositions of Ogie but this one is probably No. 1 on my list. I love the refrain which goes, Kailangan kita, ngayon at kailanman.

    9. Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw by Ogie Alcasid, interpreted by Regine Velasquez

    10. How Do I Live Without You interpreted by Lee Anne Rimes

If you ever leave, baby, you would take away everything good in my life. And tell me now, how do I live without you?

    11. Endless Love

I know it's every person's favorite song but I still love it and I love hearing the words: I want to share all my love with you, no one else will do. And your eyes, they tell me how much you care. Oh yes, you will always be my endless love. Purely romantic!

    12. We're All Alone by Boz Scaggs

Once a story's told, it can't help but grow old. Roses do, lovers too, so cast your seasons to the wind and hold me dear. I love the way the song talks about forgiving and forgetting.

    13. Come What May by David Baerwald, interpreted by Ewan Mc Gregor

I want to vanish inside your kiss. Everyday I love you more and more. Listen to my heart, can you hear it sing? Telling me to give you everything. Seasons may change, winter to spring, but I love you until the end of time, come what may.

    14. If I Ain't Got You by Alicia Keys

Some people think that the physical thing defines what's within. I've been there before that life's a bore, so full of the superficial.

It feels good that a singer/composer wrote something all singers could relate to -  the superficiality that comes with being in the business, but knowing what counts the most.

    15. Only Hope interpreted by Mandy Moore

It's one of my favorite charismatic songs - So I lay my head back down and I lift my hands and pray to be only yours. I know now, you're my only hope.

    16. The Way We Were by Barbra Streisand

I love the way the song starts...with a message  which comes across immediately: Memories, light the corners of my mind, misty water-colored memories of the way we were.

    17. With One More Look at You interpreted by Barbra Streisand.

I was in high school when I first discovered the many talents of Streisand. When I saw the telemovie (With One More Look at You), she immediately became my idol. I love the lines that go, With one more look at you, I could learn to change the stars and change our fortunes too. I'd have the constellation, paint your portrait, too, so all the world might share this wondrous sight. The world could end each night with one more look at you.

    18. Paano Kita Mapasasalamatan by George Canseco

Sapat na ba na ako ay mangako. Mananatili ka dito sa aking puso. Paano kita mapasasalamatan? Sapat na bang mahalin lang kita magpakailanpaman.

    19. Kahit Na by Baby Gil and Willy Cruz

Kaya't ligaya, habang kapiling mo'y isiping di magwawakas. Di kita pipigilan kailanman magbago ng isipan. Habang kapiling ka ligaya ay walang hanggan.

    20. Sana Maulit Muli by Gary Valenciano and his wife Angeli

Love is about taking chances and giving second chances. I love this song!

    And also:

    • Ikaw Lang ang Mamahalin by Louie Ocampo and Joey Albert

    • Your Song by Elton John

And you can tell everybody this is your song. It may be quite simple but now that it's done I hope you don't mind if I put down in words how wonderful life is now you're in the world. I think it's the most romantic thing in the world...to have someone write a song for you!

    Books: Zsa Zsa Padilla

    Philippine Daily Inquirer

MANILA, Philippines―I read the novel “A Thousand Splendid Suns” by Khaled Hosseini on the set of “Lastikman.” Just like his first bestseller, “The Kite Runner,” this book made me realize that there is so much more to the war in Afghanistan. The book chronicles three generations of Afghan history by focusing on two women, Marian and Laila, who are brought together by the brutality of one man they were both forced to marry. It’s a story of deception, survival, true love, sacrifice, forgiveness, retribution and hope.

    Choose your Valentine Show

    Philippine Daily Inquirer
    First Posted 00:04:00 02/10/2008

MANILA, Philippines - Every year, Inquirer Entertainment helps readers pick the best show for that special date, by asking the concert artists what they have in store for audiences. This is part six of the 2008 series.

    Zsa Zsa Padilla
    “Zeries@25,” Feb. 15 & 16, Captain’s Bar, Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Call 7508888 or 8919999.

When you’re not doing a concert, how do you mark Valentine’s?
Just like any normal couple would—dinner, watch a show then head home. Dolphy feels kinda lost when I don’t have a show. He’s used to seating in front row and being serenaded by me!

What’s your most romantic Valentine’s Day ever?
Whenever Dolphy takes me abroad, we’d dress up and he’d take me to the fanciest restaurant in town, then we’ll have cocktails on the uppermost lounge of whichever hotel we’re staying.

    What’s an ideal Valentine date?
Dolphy and I have been together for almost 20 years, so that means 20 valentine dates together. He’s not much of a beach person but I would say it would be an ideal Valentine’s date for us. A trip to any Aman resort, walking and holding hands on the beach.

    Who’s your fantasy date?
I still say it’s Brad Pitt.

What’s the most romantic love song?
“You Are So Beautiful” by Joe Cocker.

    Why should we watch you?
You’ve got to see this show because not only does it celebrate love but also my 25th anniversary in show business.

ZsaZsa at Regine nagtambal sa show

"Dati only Belo touches my skin, ngayon only Ogie touches me, hahaha" ani Regine.

Anu't anuman, kahit 80 years old, nananatili pa ring bata ang "Comedy King" kapag kaharap ang "Divine Diva."

    Re: Zsa Zsa Padilla (OT)

Zsa Zsa colors the night silver
    By Leah C. Salterio
    Friday, February 22, 2008

Zsa Zsa Padilla will always be regarded as a singer even if she has successfully crossed over to acting, with Best Actress trophies to boot. Hence, her 25 years in the music business was recently marked with a concert aptly titled Zeries @ 25, at the Captain's Bar of Mandarin Oriental Manila.

Zsa Zsa took great pains in planning out and mounting the said concert to highlight her silver anniversary as a singer. With Louie Ocampo as her musical director, backed up by five notable session musicians, Zsa Zsa helped line-up songs that became identified with her in the past 25 years - from her signature hits to the cover versions she popularized.

She looked every inch the Divine Diva that she is when she sauntered onstage in a glittering white gown by Rajo Laurel, as she opened up the show with a Louie Ocampo original which she recorded, Ikaw Lamang. Then she went on to dish out her hits - Point of No Return, Mambobola, which was given a brilliant bossa nova arrangement and We're All Alone, the cover of a Boz Scaggs tune which is arguably her biggest hit to date.

Zsa Zsa has undoubtedly one of the most recognizable and distinct voices in the local music scene, so that even if she is doing a cover version on radio, you know instantly it's her singing. In the concert, she rendered other familiar tunes - If I Ain't Got You and Don't Give Up On Us.

"What's the '80s without shades?," Zsa Zsa asked the amused audience as she turned retro complete with what else, shades, when she sang a Eurythmics medley of Sweet Dreams and Here Comes the Rain Again.

Her daughter Karylle, who's making waves as a young singer and actress in showbiz, did a duet with Zsa Zsa in two current hits, Rihanna's Umbrella and Mandy Moore's Only Hope. It was a delight to hear Zsa Zsa carry out those new songs which perhaps you'd think other young artists could only render. But Zsa Zsa is truly a versatile performer who's hardly relegated only to her signature hits, some standard tunes she's known for or selected pop ditties.

In contrast, her daughter Karylle was given a solo spot with the well-loved old tune, Someone To Watch Over Me, which perfectly suited her full, mellifluous voice. It would have been truly entertaining, too, if mother and daughter will team-up in a full-length concert that will highlight both their vocal prowess.

When Zsa Zsa reemerged onstage, she was even more scintillating in a red gown (also by Rajo) that flattered her enviable body by Belo. She rendered standards like Bette Davis Eyes and I've Got a Crush on You, reminiscent of her early days as a performer at Tavern on the Square.

The series had different guests every night. Zsa Zsa was joined by the likes of Kuh Ledesma, Regine Velasquez, Gary Valenciano and Pops Fernandez. That Friday, Zsa Zsa shared the stage with Basil Valdez, with memorable duets like Kailangan Ko, Kailangan Mo and Umagang Kay Ganda. Then Basil did his signature medley of George Canseco songs which he popularized - Hanggang sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan, Ngayon, Kastilyong Buhangin and Ngayon at Kailanman. Clearly enough, there is still no better voice than the original singer to croon those love songs.

Zsa Zsa's final outfit change that night was another Rajo creation, this time a shimmering gold gown with a kaftan-inspired frock that she used to introduce her Diana Ross medley - Theme from Mahogany, All of My Life, Touch Me in the Morning, Ain't No Mountain. Then she segued into another medley of soap opera tunes - Mula sa Puso, Sana'y Maghintay ang Walang Hanggan and Hiram.

Yet another emotive medley of Barbra Streisand hits - The Way We Were, Evergreen, With One More Look at You, A Piece of Sky - was one of Zsa Zsa's most applauded that night.

Captain's Bar is a venue close to Zsa Zsa's heart. She used to do solo shows there, although the last one, she realized, was seven years ago. The place was packed that Friday, despite a slew of other Valentine shows in different venues. And to think it was Zsa Zsa's third show already in the series. That night saw the presence of her significant other, comedy king Dolphy, who merely watched his lady love from the audience, with their daughter Zia.

Amazingly enough, even if she sang hits that were mostly two decades old, Zsa Zsa had given new interpretations for the songs. Her own hits, for instance, have not faded into oblivion and have remained constant favorites.

Three more tunes - Through the Years, Kahit Na and the beautiful love song, Ever Since - capped Zsa Zsa's Captain's Bar performance. While the repertoire focused mostly on her hits as a solo performer, the show did not, in any way, traced Zsa Zsa's humble beginnings as the lead singer of the Hotdog Band. It would have been entertaining to hear her dish out some of the music she used to sing in the early years of her career before she made a name for herself.

Zeries@25 can spawn into a major concert in a big venue like the Araneta Coliseum that can trace a more extensive 25 years of Zsa Zsa Padilla. When Martin Nievera did his own 25th anniversary concert at the Big Dome early this month, the show briefly touched even on his forgettable films.

Zsa Zsa, aside from starring in comedy flicks (Mga Anak ni Facifica Falayfay, Starzan, ZsaZsa Zaturnnah), delivered memorable performances in critically acclaimed films like Pahiram ng Isang Umaga, Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin, Madrasta, Batang PX and Ako Legal Wife. That can be one of the highlights to look forward to in her concert, with video footage of her acting as she rendered the themes of the said films. But then, that's another concert

    Manila Bulletin Online

Top singers record Nescafé’s latest jingle

Having the right song spells all the difference in the world.

Just ask Nescafe, which has hired some of the country’s major singing stars to record its venerable jingle, "One World of Nescafé." Major talents like ZsaZsa Padilla, Parokya ni Edgar and Hale, among others have beeen associated with the coffee brand.

For its 70th year, Nescafé once again gives Filipinos a jingle that is as unforgettable as the moments shared over a cup of coffee. Aptly titled "Kwento," it captures a whole generation’s love for good music, warm conversation and delectable coffee. This time, all these great performers get to sing the latest tune from this coffee brand.

"It’s such an honor to record a Nescafé song," Zsa Zsa says, whose soulful rendition of the original Nescafé jingle still resonates in the public’s consciousness to this day. "Additional treat for me, of course, is that I’m in such great company. I’ve always wanted to work with these guys, so I’m grateful that I’ve been given this chance."

This is a sentiment shared by all the artists who are part of the campaign. Parokya ni Edgar frontman, Chito Miranda, says, "The kind of music that we do is important to us. Kaya talagang pinipili..sinasala naming yung songs na gagawin namin. It has to appeal di lang sa ‘min but to our audience as well."

Champ, vocalist for the band Hale, shares, "It’s such a pleasure to do this because we get to work with colleagues in the music industry. What made it even better is that the music was so catchy."

Barbie, on the other hand, has been looking forward to singing another Nescafé jingle ever since she and her group did "Good Day."

"I got really excited when I was told about this project. The first time was really wonderful because it helped my music reach a wider audience because the song was after all my kind of music. I got really excited when I was told about this project because it was an experience that I’d like to have again," she says.

With its wistful lyrics and easy rhythm, "Tuloy ang Kwentuhan" is destined to join the ranks of other Nescafé songs which have become as memorable as "One World of Nescafé," "Good Day" by Barbie and "Sunshine" by Bamboo.

"Cool talaga ‘tong kantang ‘to," Chito says. "I really like the way it was written. Very now. Very easy to relate to. Perfect ‘tong theme song ng mga barkada."

All four acts have their own versions of "Kwento," each of which is used in a particular version of the Nescafé anniversary TV commercial.

    MST HOME

    Classic commercial jingles

“Let’s sit and talk a while, in the one world of Nescafé.”

The line comes from a jingle of a Nescafé campaign back in 1983 and watching the commercials again brought back memories of a very romantic time with the country’s favorite coffee. Back then Nescafé was associated with images of gondola rides in Venice and mornings in a gazebo overlooking the Eiffel Tower and one almost forgets how foreign the brand seemed back then.

The song, however, is unforgettable. Until now, everyone remembers that classic Nescafé song, “One World of Nescafé.” It was actually sung by Zsa Zsa Padilla, who was only 18 years old at the time. It launched her career and led to her venturing into TV hosting and acting. More importantly, it was the beginning of a beautiful relationship between the brand and Filipino musicians. It’s been 25 years and to this day Nescafé is one of those brands that remained dedicated to one of our country’s greatest resources—Original Pinoy Music.

Five years after “One World of Nescafé” was released, Jose Mari Chan composed the jingle for Nescafé’s 50th anniversary, entitled “Nescafé’s 50 Golden Years.” It was recorded by Eric Antonio of the legendary all-male singing group, The Tux. At the same time, to provide a female angle, Mara Sequera, Bing Benin and Elaine Carriedo were chosen to be the three Nescafé ladies of 1988. They recorded their own version of “One World of Nescafé,” with each one singing different paragraphs of the song. The lyrics were slightly altered this time around, but it still ended with the classic line.

As time progressed, Nescafé became more and more local in flavor. In the mid-’90s pop rock group True Faith took on the mantle as Nescafé artist, coming up with the first Nescafé song in Filipino. The song was called “Sumasarap Ang Gising” and it gave the brand a more easygoing, modern and casual feel. In it, Medwin Marfil sings, “Ganito ang umaga, di ipagpapalit sa iba, basta’t ikaw ang kapiling, sumasarap ang gising,” a sentiment that fits perfectly with a Filipino morning. The music video, an MTV-Pilipinas award-winner by Robert Quebral, also showcased the best aspects of a Filipino morning—people getting together in a carinderia, reading the papers, arguing good-naturedly, playing games and being sweet. Because of “Sumasarap Ang Gising,” Nescafé hit closer to home and became the coffee that not only couples, but the whole community could enjoy together.

In 2004, Nescafé launched their “One Good Day Coming Up!” campaign with none other than alt-rock diva Barbie Almalbis who, with her lovely voice, wide-eyed glee and awe-inspiring cuteness, was the perfect person to represent today’s mobile, optimistic youth.

The music video was the first project of one of today’s hottest directors, Adrian Calumpang, and was directed brilliantly. I mean, to put Barbie in pajamas acting all cute around an elevator? Genius. I know it’s very obvious by now that I’m Barbie’s biggest fan, but I don’t care. The whole campaign certainly added a new dimension to the brand and allowed Nescafé to reinvent itself with a look and feel that continues to this day.

The year after, Nescafé signed on a band that was fast on the rise yet not tried and tested. That band was Bamboo, and back then they were only on the heels of their debut album, As The Music Plays. Today Bamboo is the biggest band in the nation with every album they’ve released reaching platinum (at the least). They’ve won oodles of awards, ranging from Awit to MTV-Pilipinas and have numerous endorsements. Nevertheless, it was Nescafé that took a chance on them first. Their song “Sunshine,” a bright and upbeat track, was accompanied by an impressive one-shot Gondryesque commercial directed by Cholo Laurel. The commercial was released at the cusp of Bamboo’s rise to fame, and set up Nescafé’s reputation as a tastemaker and zeitgeist-spotter.

This was further solidified in 2006, when they commissioned the very young and hip band Hale to do their own interpretation of the “One Moment, One Nescafé” song. Considering that the band was composed mostly of kids in their early 20s who people had never heard of prior to their self-titled debut album the year before, Hale seemed to comfortably fit among the canon of great artists to sing a Nescafé tune. A big help was the commercial, directed by Sid Maderazo and photographed by JA Tadena. The spot is actually considered by many as the band’s best music video—giving them a casual, elegant and warm dimension that the fans were craving for. Even today it’s a big YouTube hit.

Nescafé’s most recent hit comes from Parokya Ni Edgar, another bold move considering that Parokya Ni Edgar is known mostly for their crazy antics and their irreverent, kenkoy song parodies. Parokya’s image is a far cry from that of the artists who preceded them, but trust Nescafé to recognize talent, no matter what form it takes. Yes, Parokya may be known for hits like “Don’t Touch My Birdie,” “Inuman Na” and “Mr. Suave,” but vocalist Chito Miranda and team have also done songs about old-fashioned romance (“Harana”), self-realization (“Halaga”) and maturity (“Para Sa ’Yo”). It is this innate talent of Parokya to understand the idiosyncracies of youth that brought about the spirited jingle for Nescafé 3-in-1. For their commercial, Sid Maderazo returns to show a more laid-back and relaxed side to the band with one of the most visually stunning spots of the year. In it, Parokya hands out coffee mugs to people who are having their coffee moments and the new Nescafé 3-in-1 makes everyone’s world go topsy-turvy. In this instance, Nescafé not only redefined Parokya Ni Edgar, they also redefined the coffee experience.

The brand’s relationship with music doesn’t end there. Nescafé has also done a reggae summer project with Artstrong, probably their sexiest commercial to date. Also, MYMP’s Juris Fernandez and Chin Alcantara recorded their own version of “One Moment, One Nescafé” which went the radio station rounds. Nescafé also has their eye toward the future with Soundskool, an inter-school band competition that already has a reputation for discovering talent in their less than four years of existence. The first Soundskool had Kalayaan College’s Hilera as the winners. Two years later, Hilera is selling thousands of copies of their self-titled debut album under EMI records, winning Best New Artist at the NU 107 Rock Awards.

Time passes. Trends come and go. Even Nescafé changes as the years go by. This year it’s time to sit and reminisce a while as Parokya Ni Edgar, Hale, Barbie and Zsa Zsa come back with a tune to celebrate Nescafé’s 70th anniversary. Who knows what great music the future will bring? But one thing’s for sure, as Nescafé and Original Pinoy Music will still be going hand in hand into the future, the music is definitely going to be as stimulating as that morning cup of coffee!

The many faces of Nescafé’s through the years

    Quark Henares

Let’s sit and talk a while, in the one world of NESCAFÉ.

While reading the sentence above, I bet you anything that it was accompanied in your head by a melody.

The line comes from a jingle of a NESCAFÉ campaign back in 1983 and seeing the commercials again brought back memories of a very romantic time with the country’s favorite coffee. Back then NESCAFÉ was associated with images of gondola rides in Venice and mornings in a gazebo overlooking the Eiffel Tower and one almost forgets how foreign the brand seemed back then.

The song, however, is unforgettable. Until now, that classic NESCAFÉ song, "One World of NESCAFÉ," is recalled nostalgically by friends, business partners and lovers alike over morning cups of coffee. The big surprise was that it was actually sung by Zsa Zsa Padilla, who was only 18 years old at the time. It launched her career and led to her venturing into TV hosting and acting. More importantly, it was the beginning of a beautiful relationship between the brand and Filipino musicians. It’s been 25 years and to this day NESCAFÉ is one of those brands that has remained dedicated to one of our country’s greatest resources--Original Pinoy Music.

    Hiwalayan, kuryente lang!
    (REY PUMALOY)

    Unforgettable summer

Summertime and the living is easy. Hormones are jumping and the pranksters are high. We’ve all had our share of summer flings and mischief just as these celebs share here. Do you remember your summer somewhere out there?

Zsa Zsa Padilla: “Back in the late ’80s, I rode the bus to Baguio and no one recognized me. I needed to clear my thoughts so I left for a couple of days. I went back to Manila the same way. It was quite an adventure.”
