I was thinking to myself siguro magandang trabaho pasukan yan ang maging customs inspector when I grow up. Hindi ko naintindihan noon yung paraan kung papaano magkaroon ng limpak limpak na salapi ay dayain pala ang gubyerno sa koleksyon. Even today people want to join customs for the same reason I did and this is to get rich. In fact, people will pay to be appointed as customs inspector. Alam nila kapag nakapasok na sila they can write their own ticket. It's like winning the frikking lotto!

This is so true. Karamihan ng mga corrupt sa gobyerno e ang alam nila wala silang ginagawang masama - kinagisnan na nila ang corruption. Kaya ang dapat i-firing squad yang mga yan isa-isa para malaman ulit nila kung ano ang tama at mali.

Arroyo and son linked to alleged smugglers

Sen. Jinggoy Estrada on Wednesday bared that presidential husband Jose 
Miguel Arroyo and his son, Pampanga Rep. Juan Miguel, have links to suspected 
big-time smugglers in the country.

Aside from the Arroyos, the senator named a certain "MD" who 
has close connections to smuggling. He said MD is a favored member of 
President Arroyo's Cabinet.

Estrada revealed the information during the Senate budget hearing for 
the Bureau of Customs on Wednesday.

He also named a certain "Sammy Lee" as a close associate of 
Mr. Arroyo.

Estrada's revelation came a day after senators questioned Customs Commissioner 
Napoleon Morales abot alleged smuggling activities tied to Lee. According 
to information, Lee is being protected by siblings Vicky and Thomas Toh.

Vicky Toh was identified as Mr. Arroyo's secretary. Sen. Panfilo Lacson, 
on the other hand, described her as the presidential husband's lover.

A recent report said the Tohs are protecting Lee's smuggling activities 
in exchange for millions of pesos in bribes.

During Wednesday's hearing, Estrada also named another smuggler, a certain 
Tina Vidal who is an alleged close associate of the President's son.

He also named a certain "David Tan," a known smuggler and friend 
of Cabinet member MD.

According to Estrada, Cabinet member MD is related to Sen. Miriam Defensor 
Santiago.

Aside from the names mentioned, Estrada revealed two other names of alleged 
big-time smugglers. He identified them as Lucio Co and Jeffrey King.

Estrada's revelation prompted Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile to identify two 
other names in the racket.

He identified them as Johnny Trajano and Basilio Tan. He said Tan is 
an owner of a used-garments store (ukay-ukay) in Divisoria, which the 
senator said is being used for the importation of shabu.

Following their revelation, Estrada and Enrile questioned Morales and 
other Customs officials present if they were familiar with the names mentioned.

The Customs officials failed to answer the questions and as a result, 
the hearing for the bureau's budget was temporarily suspended.

The senators said the budget would only be approved if the Customs officials 
can come up with more concrete answers regarding alleged smuggling activities 
of the people mentioned during the hearing.

Broadband Network still not the solution but it will lessen the corruption in other sense. As long as employee in the customs will not change their attitude in doing the work in customs i guess it wont change anything even you change it to computerized.Only the solution is to be dedicated on their job to have a descent living rather than making it in a illegal and corruptive manner they can. Imagine no matter how big they will be corrupt it wont still enough even they are the most greedy employee cause they are making the economy of our country to be worsen the resul is that alot of Filipino need to suffer and their family too cause once it comes to their point that the service of the government specially when there will be tragic on their part and they will have a great difficulty not always they can be rich. Wealth acquired to greediness in the future it will be still nothing and in return it will be much bigger.

You know it is true but sometimes politician used this as to make them good to the public. Unlike, if they will just do their job and with any political issue they will still be as vigillant to fight corruption rather than just now that they are showing all the wrong doing which they can do that before ahead of time to make it much better without thinking of poilical motivated. So sad that they already know this thing before hand and they just being quite which makes it worsen for the country.

Having NBN is definitely helpful, but this is just a component of a whole. It will speed up processing that’s true but it all boils down to the personnel behind the keyboards.

Let make the process of the custom computerized and all the process should be in clear and specific. Time table of each transaction to finish so only the vital role will be on inspection.If inspection not properly inspected of course there is only one responsible which is the one who inspect it basically. Now there is a process but the time table to make it done is not posted to make for the processor of the document be corrupt. Imagine sa custom sa atin bago umandar bawat step dapat may naka ipit na 20 to go to other process or next step. But if we have time table to make the process done it will be easy for the applicant to follow the transaction easily. So, if in between there is wrong he/she can complain immediately why his/her paper did not yet come out to that step. Diba it simple but they dont want to implement cause they new it will be a big lost for them.But actually in reality it affect everybody for being corrupt and greedy. What if one day ma fireout sila and because of what they did before ngayon hirap na sila pati pamily nila kasi the reason why everything going up now is because of the result they did before being so greedy and corrupt.
