Ang cuts ay Find that Child Hiding in You (duet with Zsa Zsa Padilla), Angel in Disguise (na isinulat para kay Sharon), title track na Hands of Time, Ganda Mong Tunay, Let this One Go, Walang Kupas, Sakali Man, Keeping the Memories Alive at Sama-Sama, kung saan guests sina Francis Magalona at Rannie Raymundo.

“Sabi ni Sharon, she’ll find ways and means to produce me an album dahil hindi pa raw panahon for me to do inspirationals,” pagbabalik-tanaw ni Gino, na nagpasikat sa kantang Let the Love Begin at mas naging popular sa isang Pepsi commercial with Tina Turner.

Gino, like his music, is timeless

GINO Padilla was first noticed by the Filipino audience during the 1986 Pepsi commercial where he sang a duet with a famous rock legend, Tina Turner that was shot in Hollywood.

He then recorded cherished songs like, “Let The Love Begin,” “I Believe In You”, “Gusto Kita” and his famous hit, Close-Up jingle, “Closer You and I”. His album went gold and platinum and he won two Awit Awards for Closer You and I (Best in Ballad Recording and Song of the Year).

These songs have been revived by big name recording artists until the present, not to mention two hit songs made into two great movies – Let The Love Begin and I Believe In You. Of course, cousin Zsa Zsa Padilla was also instrumental in getting Gino to enter the music industry. The rest is history.

2007 ushers in an all-new album entitled, Hands of Time, which Megastar Sharon Cuneta-Pangilinan produced for her Mega Production outfit.

Songs from Hands of Time: “Find That Child Hiding In You (duet with Zsa Zsa Padilla); “Angel In Disguise” (written for Sharon); “Sama-Sama”, a barkadahan song (with Francis Magalona and Rannie Raymundo; rap lyrics by Francis M.); “Hands Of Time”; “Ganda Mong Tunay”; Let Things One Go”; Walang Kupas,” “Sakali Man,” Betcha By Golly Wow”, (revival) a solo version of “Find That Child Hiding In You”, and the current single “Keeping The Memories Alive,” which incidentally is enjoying its share of airplay in Metro Manila radio stations.

Gino’s dream is always to share music and his God-given talent to music lovers everywhere, to all those who supported him especially in the past and still behind him at present and  the record label who was behind the many hits he recorded, Universal Records.

    SHARON PRODUCES GINO’S NEW ALBUM

WE’RE glad that Gino Padilla is active again as a recording artist and guess who’s helping him out this time as executive producer of his album? Why, it’s Sharon Cuneta no less, who produced it for her own Mega Productions. “More than three years ago, I guested in her TV show to promote an inspirational compilation album where I did one song, ‘Power of Love’,” he says. “She asked me if I’m doing new pop songs, I said no. She got my number and later called me to say she’ll produce an album for me. Two weeks later, she called again to say we have to postpone as she got pregnant. So, she gave birth, returned to TV and now, finally, my album is being released, ‘Hands of Time’.”

Gino first gained fame when he did a Pepsi TV commercial with Tina Turner shot in Hollywood. He then came up with one hit after another: “Let the Love Begin” (which became the title song of the hit Richard Gutierrez-Angel Locsin movie), “I Believe in You”, “Gusto Kita” and “Closer You and I” (revived by Piolo Pascual.) His first album went gold and platinum and he won two Awit awards as best ballad and song of the year for “Closer You and I”.

He got married in 1991 to Chit Concepcion and they have two kids: Joshua, 14, and Beatriz, 12. He enjoyed being an ordinary citizen helping out in their family business, a security agency called Gengrican. “Now that I’m making a comeback, I feel nervous and excited. Parang nagsisimula uli. I just hope the public will give my songs another chance. Universal Records is distributing my album but it’s my wife and sister in law, Ellen, who’re helping me promote it. The album will be launched officially at ‘SOP’ on March 4 then we’ll have a radio and mall tour.”

We were surprised when Gino told us he’s already 42. He looks so much younger, with him being slim and fit, with no lines of aging on his face. His album’s first single, “Keeping the Memories Alive”, is a beautiful love song now enjoying good airplay in various radio stations. The other original cuts are “Angel in Disguise” (which he himself wrote), “Hands of Time”, “FInd that CHild Hiding in You” (duet with cousin Zsa Zsa P), “Sama-Sama” (with Francis Magalona and Rannie Raymundo), “Ganda Mong Tunay”, “Let This One Go”, “Walang Kupas”, and ”Sakali Man”. The only revival is his own knockout version of “Betcha By Golly Wow”.

    Gino, pinabalik ni Mega!
    SABGA-SANGANDILA Ni Veronica R. Samio

Pinamagatang "Hands Of Time", madalas nang mapakinggan sa radyo ang current single nitong "Keeping the Memories Alive".

May duet sila sa loob ng kanyang pinsang si Zsazsa Padilla, ang "Find That Child Hiding In You", "Sama-Sama", isang kanta ng barkadahan na kung saan ay kasama niya sina Francis My. at Rannie Raymundo, "_Angel In Disguise", (written for Sharon), "Gand_a Mong Tu_nay", "Let This One Go", "Walang Kupas", ang revival ng "Betcha By Golly Wow" at isang solo version ng "Find that Child Hiding In You", Ang "Hands of Time" ay ipa_pamahagi ng Universal Records.

"Give me your number. I’ll find ways and means," pangako ni Sharon.

Labing-isang kanta ang nakapaloob sa album, kabilang ang Find That Child Hiding In You (ka-duet ang pinsan na si Zsa Zsa Padilla), Angel In Disguise (sinulat para kay Sharon), Sama-Sama (barkadahan song with Francis Magalona and Rannie Raymundo), Betcha By Golly Wow (revival) at Keeping The Memories Alive (first single).

    Sharon saves Gino

GINO PADILLA was happily content living life his own sweet way, away from show business, when along came an offer from no less than Sharon Cuneta for him to do records again.

A chance encounter on the megastar’s Sunday TV show wherein Gino made a rare appearance led to a record deal. Sharon expressed interest in producing an album for the inactive singer, who in his prime brought to the public big hits like ‘Let The Love Begin,’ ‘Closer You and I,’ ‘I Believe In You,’ among others.

Turned out Sharon was more than serious about the offer. In record time, Gino went back to the studio and out came ‘Hands of Time,’ the album, produced by Sharon’s own Mega Music Production.

Gino’s hesitant to call his new album a sign of a showbiz comeback. ‘It would be great to perform again occasionally, but I have no great expectations at this point,’ he says over lunch of fried chicken and bangus last week. He’s aware a whole new generation of young singers have mushroomed on the scene, and singers of his age and calibre can find contentment in additional blessings such as his new album.

    * * *

‘I WAS HAPPY with my life as a private citizen,’ Gino says. He worked in the family business, a security agency founded by his father-in-law, who was a retired general.

with my life as a private citizen,’ Gino says. He worked in the family business, a security agency founded by his father-in-law, who was a retired general.

Now and then, people still came up to him in restaurants and other public places. ‘It felt good, but I know I have a new role to play now. I’m no longer the active singer of my generation.’

Gino found inspiration, however, in the examples of fellow 80s singers Randy Santiago and Raymond Lauchengco, who have successfully re-launched themselves as recording artists and performers.

This time around, Gino is going the way of spiritual, inspirational songs. ‘Hands of Time’ is a compendium of quite moving songs, some of whose titles include ‘Find That Child Hiding in You’ (a duet with his cousin, Zsa Zsa Padilla), ‘Angel in Disguise’ ( a song written for Sharon), ‘Ganda Mong Tunay,’ ‘Let This One Go.’

Gino also renders a mean revival of ‘Betcha By Golly Wow.’ The first single off the album, ‘Keeping the Memories Alive,’ is at present hitting it off with its share of airplay. By the way, whose memories are they, anyway?

Timeless Gino promotes his comeback album
    GUIL FRANCO (Correspondent)

    2 March 2007

GINO PADILLA— who, like his music, is timeless –goes active again as a recording artist. And it's Sharon Cuneta, with her own Mega Productions, who's helping him out this time as executive producer of his album.

Gino was first noticed by the Filipino audience during the 1986 softdrink commercial where he sang a duet with a famous rock legend, Tina Turner, that was shot in Hollywood.

His dream is always to share music and his God-given talent to music-lovers everywhere, to all those who supported him especially in the past and still behind him at present.

Gino, after first gaining fame when he did a TV ad with Miss Turner, came up with one hit after another: "Let the Love Begin" (which became the title song of the hit Richard Gutierrez-Angel Locsin movie); "I Believe in You;" "Gusto Kita;" and "Closer You and I" (revived by Piolo Pascual.) Gino Padilla: Reborn in ‘The Hands of Time’

    By Walden Sadiri

In showbiz, a short hiatus from the limelight would likely spell trouble for any artist’s career so what more when the absence has been years?

Gino Padilla, one of country’s top pop icons in the 80’s, knows this for a fact when he bade goodbye to his recording career in the mid-90’s. And the consequence of his decision then has held him from staging a comeback as a singer.

Luckily for him though, the music industry has megastar Sharon Cuneta as a patroness of sort. It was Ms. Sharon Cuneta who convinced Gino to make a comeback and record an album once more.

"I was promoting ‘Power of Your Love’ under Universal Records in Sharon Cuneta’s TV show a few years ago. She asked me if I also have pop songs other than inspirational ones. When I said no, she told me that I should go back to doing pop songs," related Gino.

Though the singer didn’t say it, his conversation with the megastar seemed peculiar since it was the second opportunity he had received after being mistaken to be the half-brother of Robin Padilla who was reported murdered some years back. The first offer came from the late Bella Tan of Universal Records who turned Gino’s mishap into something positive – the recording and release of the praise song "Power of Your Love" which led to the set of Sharon Cuneta’s TV show!

"Everything that happened was a blessing. My recording another album after a long time was actually born out of prayers…We’re just praying that somebody would help us with these songs of ours," he said.

The "rebirth" of Gino Padilla though in the realm of music he once lorded over, wasn’t easy and immediate. After hearing from Sharon that she would definitely produce his album three years ago, the project was shelved temporarily because she found out she was pregnant. After giving birth, she had to do movies. Then on his third year of waiting, the project was given the green light.

"We were asking ourselves why it was taking so long. But I’ve always prayed that it would be in God’s time…so on the third year, I called Sharon and told her that the production of the album was already finished and we were just waiting if she would continue the project. And she said yes," exclaimed Gino.

The album, which is entitled "Hands of Time," contains 10 Original Pilipino Music (OPM) and one revival in "Betcha By Golly Wow." He also composed the song "Angel in Disguise" which was his thank you song for Sharon Cuneta for having mega-heart!

The rest of the songs in his album are, "Keeping the Memories Alive," "Hands of Time," "Find That Child Hiding in You," a duet with Zsa Zsa Padilla, "Sama-Sama" with Francis Magalona and Rannie Raymundo, "Ganda Mong Tunay,"

"Let This One Go," "Walang Kupas," "Sakali Man" and the solo version of "Find That Child in You."

"Blessing talaga itong album," he expressed. "I mean being up and against big companies, this is a statement…we just like to share this with people and hopefully we could create a bit of hit somewhere. If not, this is still a blessing!"

So how did he feel about his album’s released?

"I’m excited and nervous na nakabalik kasi new faces na ang haharapin ko. I’d be facing new people again and it’s back to starting time for me. Those who have supported me before probably have their own children right now. And I have to work hard for their children to also know who I am…this album too wouldn’t have been possible if not for my colleagues from the industry who lent their talents in the making of this album."

"I asked Sharon if she was helping me because it was for business. She surprised me with her answer that she was just giving back to other artists the help that she has received from her fans all these years. She said that it was just right for her to help her fellow artists because they also helped her.

According to Gino, he’s glad that the megastar was proud of his album and its production. He said she liked the album, she liked the production.

"For this album, we’re doing everything because Universal Records will only distribute it. We’re all hands-on in its making and we’re also in charge of its promotion," quipped Gino. His wife Chit and sister-in-law Ellen have helped him with the production of the album.

Having a number of possible hit songs up his sleeves like "Let The Love Begin," "Closer You and I," which was revived by Piolo Pascual, and "I Believe in You" which was re-recorded by Jen Madela, made it more challenging for Gino’s "Hands in Time" to make and if it makes just a dent in the music scenario presently dominated by bands and young alternative rock singers, it would already be an accomplishment for the comebacking song artist.

Gino Padilla’s recording career slowed down starting in 1995, when he had a few recordings under Universal Records. He finally stopped in the year 2000. What he did then endorsement jobs for PIA and DOH. He was campaigning for their services and activities for two and half-year. He also ran his family’s security agency in the year 2000.

Despite his absence from live performances, Gino’s "Hands of Time" showcased that the artist’s musicality and vocal stylings were still intact. He is the same energetic singer and balladeer that his fans have gotten to know and love decades ago. An added flavor as heard in his renditions of the songs in he album is the maturity and fullness of his singing. Picking up from where he left off was easier than Gino might have expected.

Gino is also the father of a 14-year-old boy named Joshua and a 12-year-old girl who answers to the name Beatriz.

Gino’s album "Hands of Time" is available in record stores in Metro Manila and around the nation.

    New album

Check out Gino Padilla’s new album “Hands of Time” (Mega Productions). It includes a duet with his cousin Zsa-Zsa (“Find That Child Hiding In You”), a rap song with Francis M. and Rannie Raymundo (“Sama-Sama”) and the radio favorite “Keeping The Memories Alive.” Gino is one underrated singer. He ought to be given more breaks. Enough of singers who just mouth the lyrics and have no “soul” in their singing. Let’s have more hits from Gino, like his signature songs “Closer You and I” and “Let the Love Begin.”

80s’ pop icons in one concert

The 80s gave us some of local music scene’s best and most enduring artists. Four of those artists will return to the concert scene via "Greatest Hits of the 80’s," a two-night show at the Music Museum on May 16 and 17).

Remember Gino Padilla? His voice gave life to the hit singles "Close You and I" - which was used in a toothpaste commercial back in the day — "I Believe In You" and "Let The Love Begin."

Gino’s most recent projects include an album produced by none other than the Megastar, Ms. Sharon Cuneta herself. The album, bannered by the first single "Keeping The Momories Alive," is titled "Hands Of Time" and is available at all leading record bars.

Louie Heredia also made his mark in the 1980’s - in 1985, to be precise - with songs like "Can’t Find No Reasons," "Iisang Damdamin," "Nag-iisang Ikaw" and "Una At Huling Mamahalin." Back in the day, he also hosted many TV shows like the phenomenal "Lunch Date."

Actor-singer Raymond Lauchengco also rose to prominence in the 1980’s, thanks largely in part to his role in the iconic 1980’s teen movie "Bagets." His hits include "In Need You Back," "Farewell," "Saan Darating Ang Umaga" and "So It’s You." After a brief career hiatus, during which he was sorely missed by the industry, Raymond went back to Viva Artists Agency — the same company that launched his career.

The title of Raymond’s latest album - a collection of songs from the 1980’s rearranged big-band style — Full Circle is very appropriate sinxe he came "full circle" when he returned to Viva.

Who can forget Randy Santiago and those shades of his? Randy may be a director now — he recently helmed the ABS-CBN sitcom "Aalog-alog" - but back in the day he was an in-demand singer and dancer. He appeared in several musical variety shows and released several hit singles of his own, including "Hindi Magbabago," "Para Sa ‘Yo," "Tuloy Pa Rin" and the ultimaten ladies’ man song "Babaero."

"Greatest Hits of the 80’s" is produced by Viva Concerts and Events.

    Pop goes the ’80s

A decade characterized by funny looking clothes and weird makeup – that’s what most people now think of the 1980s.

How quickly they forget that it was also the decade when some of the local music scene’s best and most enduring artists started their careers. In fact, four of those artists will return to the concert scene via Greatest Hits of the ’80s, a two-night show at the Music Museum on May 16 and 17.

One of those artists is Gino Padilla, whose vocals gave life to the fit singles “Closer You And I,” “I Believe In You” and “Let The Love Begin.” Gino’s most recent projects include an album produced by none other than the Megastar, Sharon Cuneta herself. The album, bannered by the first single Keeping The Memories Alive, is entitled Hands Of Time and is available at all leading record bars.

Louie Heredia also made his mark in the 1980s with songs like “Can’t Find No Reasons,” “Iisang Damdamin,” “Nag-iisang Ikaw” and “Una at Huling Mamahalin.” The many albums he released were met with critical and commercial success, which helped him earn many Gold and Platinum Record awards. Back in the day, he also hosted many TV shows like the phenomenal Lunch Date.

Actor-singer Raymond Lauchengco also rose to prominence in the 1980s, thanks largely in part to his role in the iconic 1980s teen movie Bagets. LONGEST concert ever ang Greatest Hits of the 80’s.

Parang napakalaking concert ang gagawin ng Viva Concert and Events na Greatest Hits of the 80’s. It has four big male singing stars of the eighties na sina Raymond Lauchengco, Gino Padilla, Louie Heredia and Randy Santiago na kahit sila lang sandamakmak ang collective hits.

Tapos two night concert pa ito, on May 16 and 17 sa Music Museum from the stage direction of Jun Jun Santiago.

We say big dahil nang nagpipilian na ng repertoire, personal hits pa lang nila, aabot na ng two hours.

Kaso they still have to sing a lot of songs from the 80’s  so when everything was compiled, baka raw umabot ito ng four to five hours.

Nang nag-decide sila to cut and trim here and there, tatlong oras pa rin ang ita-tagal ng concert so sabi nila hanggang doon na lang.

For tickets call Ticket World at 891 9999.
