Sarah Geronimo, the Other Side

Everything's set for the major concert of Sarah Geronimo at the
Araneta Coliseum on Sept. 30, Friday. The show was supposed to have
been Sarah's birthday concert last July 23, but because of her
concerts in the US, she didn't have enough time to prepare for the
Araneta gig.

The concert, Sarah Geronimo, the Other Side (One Night Only), will
have as guest performers Mark Bautista and Piolo Pascual. Japoy
Lizardo, who is being linked to Sarah, will make a special
appearance.

Sarah is excited about her show in the Big Dome. "I've waited so
long for this chance to perform solo at the Araneta. I've performed
there but always with a group, so I'm also a little nervous."

Viva's big boss Vic del Rosario is confident Sarah is ripe for a
solo concert at the Araneta. "She's ready. I know she can pack the
coliseum full. Matagal na dapat ito," says Del Rosario.

He doesn't want to say what other projects he has lined up for
Sarah. But her fans in Cebu will be glad to know that on Oct. 15,
they can catch Sarah at the Waterfront Hotel.

Tickets sa concert ni Sarah malapit nang ma-sold out

NGAYON pa lang ay nakaaamoy na ng panibagong tagumpay si Viva Group
of Companies big boss Vic del Rosario dahil sa ulat na this early ay
halos sold out na ang tikets sa first major solo concert ng alagang
si Sarah Geronimo.

Sa September 30 pa gaganapin sa Araneta Coliseum ang matagal nang
pinapangarap na big concert ng dating Star for a Night champion, pero
kung matuluy-tuloy ang positibong projection ng mga nangangalaga sa
kanyang career, malamang na pag-usapan na nila ang tungkol sa
napipintong repeat nito.
Maging ang presscon na ginanap sa Marina resto kahapon ay blockbuster
din sa rami ng writers at editors na nag-attend.

Kasabay ng anunsyo tungkol sa The Other Side concert ng dalagita ay
pinarangalan din siya ng Viva Records executive na si Eugene Villaluz
ng double platinum record award para sa kanyang bagong CD album na

Sixteen.

Natural, tuwang-tuwa ang young singer-actress sa bagong achievement
na ito sa kanyang career dahil sa panahon ng pamimirata, hirap nang
maka-gold man lang ang album ng ibang kapwa recording artist.

Samantala, exciting ang line-up ng special guests sa The Other Side
ni Sarah. Kabilang dito sina Piolo Pascual, Mark Bautista at ang
sinasabing latest crush ng singer na si taekwondo star Japoy Lizardo.

Of course, maaari bang mawala ang biggest idol ng dalaga sa showbiz
na si Regine Velasquez?

May special participation din sa concert ang host ng SFAN kahit pa
sabihing may kasabay din siyang performance sa gabing iyon.

Ang gagawin daw nito'y tatapusin muna ang sariling show bago tatakbo
sa Big Dome para bigyan ng suporta si Sarah sa pinaka-importanteng
gabi ng kanyang career.

Ngayon pa lang ay mixed emotions na ang nararamdaman ng dalaga nina
Mommy Divine at Daddy Delfin. Magkahalong excitement at kaba ang
naglalaro sa kanyang dibdib dala na rin ng pangyayaring napakalaki ng
expectations ng lahat sa kanya.

'Pag napuno niya ang 17,000-seater Big Dome, wala nang dudang made na
nga si Sarah sa edad niyang 17.

Siyanga pala, dapat sana'y birthday concert itong The Other Side
dahil nga nag-celebrate ang singer ng kanyang birthday only last July
25.

Pero dahil sa kanyang napaka-busy na schedule, gagahulin sila sa
preparasyon kapag ipinagpilitang idaos ang concert in time for her
birthday.

Anyway, habang papalapit ang performance date ay tumitindi raw ang
kaba ni Sarah. "Beginner pa lang po kasi ako, 'di kagaya ni Ms. Reg
(her pet name for Regine) na talagang hasa na sa pagpe-perform sa
malalaking venue gaya ng Araneta.

"Pero gagawin ko po talaga ang lahat para masiyahan ang mga manonood
ng show at susulitin namin ang ibabayad nila sa ticket," dugtong pa
nito.

Incidentally, si GB Sampedro, dating assistant director ng multi-
awarded na si Louie Ignacio, ang magha-handle ng The Other Side.

Para sa mga gustong humabol ng tickets, punta lang kayo sa SM
Ticketnet outlets o kaya'y sa Araneta Coliseum box-office. Ang ticket
prices are P1,500, P1,000, P500, P250 at
P150.

HUMARAP sa press kamakailan lang si Sarah Geronimo para pormal na i-
announce na tuloy na sa Sept. 30 ang kanyang first major solo concert
na gaganapin sa Araneta Coliseum.

Walang kaiporkritahang inamin sa amin ni Sarah na kabado siya at
hindi siya sigurado kung mapupuno niya ang Araneta Coliseum sa Sept.
30. Masyado raw kasing malaki 'yung venue at hindi siya katulad nina
Sharon Cuneta, Regine Velasquez at iba pang singers na sanay nang mag-
concert sa ganu'n kalaking lugar.

Para hindi kabahan, mas dini-devote na lang ni Sarah ang kanyang
concentration at isip sa paghahanda para sa naturang concert. Panay
ang rehearse at aral ni Sarah ng mga repertoire na gagamitin niya for
the show. Ayaw raw kasi niyang mapahiya sa tao. Gusto niyang masulit
ang ibabayad ng mga manonood

Si Sarah ang nag-isip ng concept ng show na pinamagatang The Other
Side. Lahat ng mga kanta sa concert ay mga paborito niya. Pati 'yung
mga dance number na ga-gamitin sa show, siya rin ang ang-suggest.

Magiging very special din ang pagtatanghal dahil panauhin niya si
Regine Velas-quez, ang na-li-link sa kanyang si Japoy Lizardo, Mark
Bautista at ang crush niyang si Piolo Pascual.

Hindi na-pigilan ni Sarah ang kiligin nang tanungin namin siya kung
sino ang crush niya sa showbiz ngayon. Sad to say, pero idinenay
niya 'yung tungkol sa kanila ni Japoy. Si Mark naman ay
nananatiling "kuya" niya hanggang ngayon. Si Piolo raw ang talagang
crush niya.

Anyway, may nagba-lita sa amin na regarding Sarah's concert na
almost sold out na raw ang tic-kets dito. It means, hindi na dapat
kabahan si Sarah dahil tiyak na maraming manonood ng kanyang concert.

Ang dapat na lang si-gurong problemahin nga-yon ni Sarah at ng
production staff ng concert ay 'yung magiging performance nito on the
night of the concert. Dapat ay bongga ito kesa sa mga naunang concert
niya kasama ng Champion. Kasi kung parang ordinaryo rin lang ang
gagawin niya sa concert, mahihirapan siyang mag-mount ng susunod
pang concerts.

Well, wish namin na sana'y umapaw ang tao sa Araneta Coliseum on
Sept. 30. Huwag sanang bumagyo on that date at huwag din sanang
kalimutan nina Calvin Neria at Duds ang a-ming ti-ket -- para sa akin
at sa kasama ko at para sa nanay at kapatid ko na gusto ring
mapanood si Sarah sa kanyang first major solo concert.

Seventeen-year-old teen star Sarah Geronimo, not only has lungs of steel but
the ability to make wise decisions in her flourishing career. It is only
now, after garnering three multiplatinum albums to her name, that she is
embarking on her first solo concert at the artist's major arena, the Araneta
Coliseum.

The concert, titled The Other Side, will showcase "the other side" of Sarah,
who is an inspiration and role model for other young individuals who dare to
dream big. Her guests include fellow talent-search star Mark Bautista and
the actor Piolo Pascual.

Although Sarah has performed at the Araneta Coliseum on several occasions,
this is the first time the spotlight will be entirely hers.

"Matagal ko na rin po kasing pinapangarap na magka-solo concert doon [I've
dreamt of having a solo concert at the Araneta for a long time]," says
Sarah. "Feeling ko kasi, doon ko lang matatawag ang sarili ko na isang tunay
na concert artist, kapag nakapag-solo na ako sa Araneta [I felt the only
time I can call myself a real concert artist is when I can hold my own at
the Araneta]."

Admitting that she is intimidated by the thought of doing a solo concert in
the country's biggest indoor venue, she says is more than ready to stand up
to the challenge. Her achievements speak for themselves: A triple platinum
award for the Star For A Night album; a quintuple platinum award for a debut
solo recording titled Popstar; and a double platinum for her latest release,
Sweet Sixteen, which features her latest single, the revival of "I Wanna
Know What Love Is."

She also has several number one singles to her credit, including "To Love
You More," "Forever's Not Enough," "Sa Iyo," "How Could You Say You Love
Me," and "Can This Be Love."

Sarah also copped four impressive nominations in the MTV Pilipinas 2004
awards and another four in the recently concluded 17th Awit Awards. She won
for Best Performance by a New Female Recording Artist and Best Dance
Recording for Sa Iyo.

Tickets to the September 30 concert are available at SM Ticketnet outlets
and at the Araneta Coliseum box-office. A second show is scheduled on
October 15, 8 p.m. at the Waterfront Hotel Lahug in Cebu City.

Dalawang malaking regalo ang natanggap ni Sarah Geronimo kaugnay sa
katatapos na birthday niya noong Hulyo 25.

Ang una ay ang first major concert niya na gagawin sa Setyembre 30 sa

Ang ikalawa ay ang pagtanggap niya ng double platinum award para sa
album niyang Sweet 16.

Nagpasalamat ang Pop Princess sa mga press sa pamamagitan ng mga
tsokolateng ipinamigay ng kanyang Daddy at Mommy.

Excited si Sarah sa kanyang concert kahit kabado siya.

"First ko po ito. Syempre, marami pong mag-e-expect sa magiging
performance ko at `yung magiging resulta ng concert.

"Basta, ibibigay ko na lang po `yung best ko. At least, kahit paano,
sa pag-awit ko na lang po kung hindi man ito suportahan ng mas
marami," sey niya.

Kinumpirma ni Sarah na pumayag nang mag-guest sa concert niya ang
idolo niyang si Regine Velasquez.

Nagpasabi na raw itong hahabol matapos ang commitment sa araw na iyon.

Ang iba pang guests ni Sarah ay sina Mark Bautista, Juna Lumbero,
Japoy Lizardo at Piolo Pascual.

Dadalhin ang concert na ito ni Sarah sa Waterfront Lahug, Cebu City
sa Oktubre 15.

IT'S not surprising for Sarah Geronimo to feel tense these days. Her
first solo concert, "The Other Side," is scheduled at the Araneta
Coliseum on September 30 and she's full of anticipation. Is she ready
to go solo in a big venue like the Araneta?

"I've performed there with other young singers but this is the first
time that I alone will carry the whole concert. As of now, I'm really
preparing for it, mentally and physically. I want to be in top form
on the night of the show. My past two years singing here and abroad
have given much confidence in performing in front of the crowd, so
palagay ko naman po, kaya ko na."

Does she think she can fill up the Big Dome? "I'm hoping I can, even
if I'm not a Regine Velasquez na hasa in doing shows

there," she says. "I'm praying na sana, people will come to watch me
and I promise them I'll give them a very good show."

Regine will be one of her guests. "May show rin po si Ate Regine that
night but as soon as she's finished with it, she'll rush to Araneta
to perform with me. My other guests are Piolo Pascual, Mark Bautista
and Japoy Lizardo."

Taekwondo champ Japoy is rumored to be her latest crush. Are they
really playing beautiful music together? "We're very good friends. We
met sa 'SCQ Reload.' Pero hindi pa po ako ready magpaligaw. I just
turned 17 on July 25 and my parents feel I'm still too young to have
a boyfriend."

Sarah joined showbiz only two years ago but she has already won many
awards, including the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Award, Most Promising
Female Performer in the 2004 Aliw Awards, best performance by a
female recording artists in the Awit Awards, Most Promising Female
Singer at the 9th Tinig Awards of the National Press Club, and the
the Outstanding Female Youth Role Model in Singing in the 2004 KASAMA
(Kabataang Sama-Samang Naglilingkod) Awards. She also has a total of
five hit albums, including "Star for a Night" album (gold), "Sarah
Geronimo" Popstar"(quintuple platinum), "Sing Along with Sarah"
(platinum), "Can This Be Love" soundtrack (gold) and "Sweet Sixteen"
that contains her remake of "I Wanna Know What Love Is," now
dominating the airwaves as a most requested song.

How come she's no longer one of the host of "Star in a
Million"? "Talagang one season lang po ang contract ko roon. Also, I
didn't accept any other commitments except 'ASAP' as I want to devote
all my time preparing for the concert."

September 30.

Pinamagatang The Other Side, mahigit na 20 kanta ang babanatan dito
ni Sarah. Maraming solo pero, meron ding duet with her guests. Tulad
nina Piolo Pascual, Mark Bautista, Japoy Lizardo (hindi kanta kundi
sayaw ang pagsasamahan nila) at Regine Velasquez!

"Hindi makukumpleto ang concert ko kung wala siya. Siya ang idolo ko.
Masaya ako dahil kahit mayro'n din siyang concert on the same night,
nangako siyang darating," ani Sarah.

"Si Boss Vic (del Rosario) ang pumili ng mga guest ko. Gusto ko rin
sana na mag-guest si Nina dahil never pa kaming nagkasama pero,
nagkataong may concert din siya the day after kaya di pwede," anang
17 taong gulang na celebrity na umaming hanggang ngayon ay wala pang
nanliligaw sa kanya. "Baka kapag 21 na ako pwede na," pakonswelo
niya.

Sa presscon ng kanyang solo concert, ginawaran siya ng double
platinum award para sa kanyang album na "Sweet Sixteen". Kakantahin
niya ang mga hits dito sa Araneta plus ilang cover versions at
medleys.

Viva bosses compare Sarah to Sharon

Singing champ Sarah Geronimo faces her biggest challenge as Viva
Concerts, Inc. mounts her first solo concert at the Araneta Coliseum
on Sept. 30. An ambitious undertaking, one might say. Is Sarah ready
for it?

"Kinakabahan nga po ako dahil ang palagi nilang itinatanong ay kung
kaya ko ba raw punuin ang Araneta Coliseum. I wish I can answer that
at ayaw ko namang pa-pressure na kailangang mapuno ko ang Big Dome. I
can only pray to God na maging successful ang concert and I will give
my all to make it a memorable show," she says.

If you ask Boss Vic del Rosario, he is confident that all roads will
lead to Araneta on Sept. 30 to see Sarah for the concert titled "The
Other Side of Sarah."

Boss Vic's daughter Veronique affirms:

"She has built a strong fan following similar to Sharon Cuneta not
only here but even abroad. She has charisma and the text generation
look at Sarah as their role model. These are the crowds which will
not fail her at her Araneta concert."

Big production numbers are being conceived that will unveil the other
side of Sarah. She will do some dancing and even impersonate a known
singer.

Duets will definitely be a highlight and chances are, Sarah will
perform with her male guests which include Mark Bautista, Japoy
Lizardo and Piolo Pascual.

And the surprise (Is there any surprise to it at all now?--Ed.)
guest, as if you don't know, is none other than her idol, Regine
Velasquez.

Tickets to Sarah Geronimo's concert at the Araneta Coliseum on
September 30 are selling fast. Pakiramdam nga ni Boss Vic del Rosario
ngayon, bago pa man matapos ang buwan ng August, mauubos na ang
ticket ng first major concert ni Sarah, Sarah Geronimo: The Other
Side.

"I'm surprised at the ticket sales. Those who don't buy tickets now
may find themselves being left out, baka maubusan sila," says Boss
Vic. Birthday concert sana ito ni Sarah last July, pero sa eroplano
na siya inabutan ng birthday kaya ang staff na lang ng eroplano ang
bumati sa kanya.

"Ngayon pa lang po, nagpapasalamat na ako sa lahat ng bumili ng
ticket. Mas lalo po akong kinakabahan," sabi ni Sarah. * * *
